In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Is it legal to ship beardies through USPS? I've never had one shipped through them before but a person I'm buying from wants to ship to me through them. Any details would be appreciated. They were supposed to ship UPS, but it didn't work out. I need to let her know by tonight. I just want to know about experiences other have had with this before I OK it.

Reptiles are not allowed to be shipped through USPS. We went to the post office the other day to mail a box on the self mailing machine. The screen specifically said, "NO REPTILES".

If you do send/receive them through USPS, do not expect your animal to survive. I have seen and heard of people sending/receiving animals through USPS and rarely does anything go smoothly. USPS is VERY hard on the boxes they handle. Either the box is delayed, they lose the box, or the box could be thoroughly beaten up or crushed. PLEASE do not subject any animal to that.

UPS, FedEx and DHL all ship animals.

We've had animals shipped via UPS and no problems as of yet. No crushed boxes and all the animals were safe and not overheated.

Thanks for the info. I knew I'd read that snakes can't be shipped USPS. I figured it was the same for beardies but thought I'd check. I'll make sure they get sent UPS next week. :-D

It is NOT illegal to ship lizards through the USPS.

From the USPS website:

9.3.3 Small Cold-Blooded Animals
Small, harmless, cold-blooded animals (except snakes and turtles) that do not require food or water or attention during handling in the mail and that do not create sanitary problems or obnoxious odors are mailable (e.g., baby alligators and caimans not more than 20 inches long, bloodworms, earthworms, mealworms, salamanders, leeches, lizards, snails, and tadpoles).

However....due to the complete unreliability of the USPS when it comes to handling packages, I would NEVER recommend it.

I agree with cat, I purchased to babies they were shipped usps and I get my mail very late here 5 pm anyway I went thier told them I was expecting a package overnight and could I please pick it up thier. It was winter and they did not hold the package, I lost one of the babies and the other was so frozen I am amazed he made it.

Don't do it!!

Please do not accept (or ship) through USPS any reptiles. I had someone ship them to me thru USPS, was suppose to UPS but guess they decided to keep a few extra bucks for shipping costs. My box was mangled beyond recognition and arrived 2 days late! Thankfully both girls survived, somehow. They were adults which probably helped their chances. But they were packed in snake bags and had no extra reinforcement to prevent them from being crushed by the people mutilating my package along it's path. It's expensive to ship thru UPS especially for the winter now, but never once have I gotten a package with even a scratch on it from UPS. It's just not worth it to use USPS, might as well just hand the person your money and they keep the animals, at least they will survive and you'll be out just as much as you were before hand without having to open a mangled box to find bodies.
