In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

We had once a discussion on the "sold-out" topic. If the animals were never produced (and thus never sold), is it OK to post "sold-out" in the website? Some stated they were expecting to produce them and thus create awareness in potential future customers. We agreed that maybe a change in wording such as "check for availability in the months to come" would be a better approach.

If you have the time and are willing, please check the "availability" page of this new company that produces and sells ball pythons, bpsculptures (you can figure out the www "thingy", I'm not posting the link just to follow the rules). Carefully compare the pictures of males number 1 and 2 (picture of male number 3 is difficult to see as it is taken from the distance), and those of females labeled number 1 and 2. All four have different weights and are "for sale". I would like to hear other people's input on this matter. Again maybe my eyes are not that sharp any more.

Regards,

Dan

Is this it?

Looks to be the same animal to me....or animals. I'm guessing it's only one, I do find it interesting that the females right side is showing and the males left side is....

Have you tried emailing them about it, or to ask for individual pics of two of the animals?

Jennifer,

No I haven't. I don't want to create false expectations as I'm not interested (read $$!!) in buying albinos right now.

I never paid attention to the fact that the pictures of the male are from the left side and those of the female from the right. Even if they are male and female in MHO pictures of males 1 & 2 seem to be of the same animal as well as pictures of females 1 & 2. One thing is for sure, if you buy either male or females number 1 or 2 you will get the one in the picture ;)

They went through all the trouble of putting up a nice looking web page but...

By the way Cheryl, how do you do that thing of copying the whole screen an pasting it here?

Regards.

Unless, of course, the 01 and 02 mean two pictures of the same animal. But all four with different weights?

Kindly.

At the top of your key board~ right of the F12 key, there is a key that says "Print Scrn/sysRq" Push that button while on the page you want to capture the screen shot of. Then go to your photo program (I use image composer) right click your mouse and select Paste.

Pretty cool. I just learned it, and now I'm busy taking screen shots of everything! :D (Guess I'm easily amused)

They look like the same snake to me as well, but I can't see them well enough to be sure. I was in a hurry this morning. Later tonight I will try to enlarge the photo's and see if I can identify any "Fingerprints" in it.

I, along with many other breeders put "sold out" for snakes I intend to produce. I don't see anything wrong with that mainly because "check" would have me feilding 100 emails.

My reason has always been that I don't like a "collection" and a "for sale" then a "expected" page as well. "Sold out" has always been an easy way to say I own this and don't currently have any for sale.

I can see where in a day and age people sue McD's cause they're too dumb to check the temp on their drinks things like this come under a microscope but I've done this for $10 normal corns. Sort of hard to have a bad motive for that.

In MHO if someone produced the snake in question in the past (or has brokered them for that matter) and states "sold out" is OK. But I do not like when someone buys for the first time a pair of baby hetero for albino ball pythons with the intention of producing albinos in the future, and then advertises albinos as "sold out" in his/her web page. In MHO that is what I understand by deception. The same goes for the fact that in the case motive of this thread it seems as if the person has just a pair (maybe only one as someone suggested) of ball pythons and is duplicating the pictures to appear as having more stock. More stock of highly priced animals, would mean more investment. In some prospective customer's minds this might imply a better guarantee and piece of mind as they think they are dealing with a company with greater solvency and financial assets. One or two albinos plus a flashy web page do not offer that. A "sold out" statement of something one person never had for sale offers even less. Just an opinion

I finally decided to send an e-mail to inquire about the mojave, and if both albino females (# 01 and 02) were from the same clutch. Their reply is below.

I apologize for not getting your other emails. I will send photos of the mojave when I return home this evening. The albinos are siblings.

Cheers and more later

Frederick

It is clear that both pictures in their webpage belong to the same animal. But they are posted with different id# and weights. The purpose is more than likely to lead prospective customers into believing this company/individual has more assets. If someone buys a 100% hetero for piebald ball python with obvious intentions to produce them in the future, should he/she state “sold out” in the piebald tab of his webpage? Wouldn’t it be more adjusted to the truth to say “future project”? It would be very nice if I could produce and maybe even sell some ghost boas in the future. I own an 03 anery male and an 02 salmon female. If everything goes as planned I will have double hetero offspring in late 2005, and ghosts by 2008. Should I post ”ghosts boas are currently sold out” on my webpage?

Deceive:
1. To cause to believe what is not true; mislead.
2. To give a false impression: appearances can deceive.
Deceive is a general word applicable to any kind of misrepresentation affecting faith or life. To delude, primarily, is to make sport of, by deceiving, and is accomplished by playing upon one's imagination or credulity, as by exciting false hopes, causing him to undertake or expect what is impracticable, and making his failure ridiculous. It implies some infirmity of judgment in the victim, and intention to deceive in the deluder . But it is often used reflexively, indicating that a person's own weakness has made him the sport of others or of fortune; as, he deluded himself with a belief that luck would always favor him. To mislead is to lead, guide, or direct in a wrong way, either willfully or ignorantly.
In both examples (pictures of animals that do not exist, and statement of having sold animals that never existed) the reader is mislead in the wrong way willfully and not ignorantly. Selling animals as possible heterozygous when they are not is obviously wrong and also another form of deception. You are ”exciting false hopes, causing him to undertake or expect what is impracticable, and making his failure ridiculous”. You are not stating the animal has the genetics for that trait, you are only saying it’s possible. Technically you are not lying...or are you?

Kindly.

Maybe I am missing something here but I have to ask why you don’t simply post this person’s name or business name with a link to his/her particular site on the BOI? So it is likely the same snake in some of the pics that the ad indicates shows different snakes. I would think this makes the seller dishonest and therefor think as I have said this belongs on the BOI.

As to not posting the web address for this ad, is that what the new rule was about? I would have sworn that the rule was no links to the classified sections of other sites like kingsnake.com that would possibly take business from this site, and that it was not geared at preventing us from posting links to an individual's business web site. Maybe I am wrong about that, in which case I'll have to remove any reference to my own web site in any of my threads.

Best regards,
Glenn B

Glenn,

I'm not sure how to interpret the rule myself. But there is already a thread in the BOI under the topic "Senegal Sculptures". As for their name I don't have it. It is it is not posted on their webpage either. A person named Frederick was the one who answered my e-mails.

Kindly.

You know, I forgot to mention, I have a picture of some bridges I have for sale and while they may look the same that is because they were built byt he same guy...

Waste Of Time

Little "tricks" like putting sold out when you plan on producing them or "20 years experience" when you are only 25 (saw this on a website of a guy I talked to at a show, and it just struck me as hilarious) may fool some of the people on initial look, when you start conversing your lack of experience will show through. People that do this will take other "shortcuts" as well which will effect customer service and product/animal quality. Those that take the time to build experience before bragging/exagerating about it, produce what they say they have produced (or at least take the time to learn about what they are reselling) are the ones that will be in the industry for a longer period of time... the time that it takes to build a solid reputation based upon repeat dealings and things you have done not just things you plan on doing.

What is discouraging is that they started by putting together a nice webpage. That in itself probably took time and money (unless they did it themselves). Then they go by doing that childlish thing, trying to look bigger than they are. When someone is capable of doing that right "off the bat", who knows what they might try next.

Regards.
