In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i recently got a really good deal, that i couldn't pass up on a vision cage. Its 6ft by 3ft by 1.5ft. what monitor would fit this specific cage the best since its not really the tallest? thanks!

Nice pickup! I'd stay in the dwarf terrestrial range and get some ackies. That would be a great size for them. Anything else would be more exotic and pricey...

I have been looking into ackies, I'm just having a really hard time finding any for sale. Iv also been looking into other monitors such as peach throats and mangroves but I know they need more height. The peAch is my favorite.

there are no "good" vision cages for monitors period. You need deep substrate for them to dig and its not possible with 1.5 feet of height. A tegu is probably your best bet.

best monitor cage

I have to agree with SUZUKI4LIFE "vision cages" do not make good montor gages, they make great snake cages but fall very short when it come to monitors. My Water/black throat monitors have 29" of fill and they like to dig deep.

Ask not what your monitor can do for your cage...

...but what your cage can do for your monitor. :)

I agree with both Gary and Chris, although modifications can be made to a large Vision such as you described which may permit species recommended by Matt to do considerably well (as Ridge-taileds are captive-bred, yellow V. acanthurus are likely the better choice over a largely-imported species like a Timor).

Of course, when I speak of altering the enclosure I refer to majorly modifying several primary aspects for proper housing, not simple tweaking here and there. I'd be happy to get more in-depth via private messaging should this interest you. That Vision cage will never do well for a V. jobiensis, however, nor any other Indicus-complex type species.
