In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am getting tired of driving 20 minutes eachway for a box of 500 crickets. Does anyone have or has had real good experiences with quality and shipping as far as buying crickets online and having them mailed?

I use Ghann's as well. They're great! - - and they MORE than overcompensate to ensure live count. I've used Armstrong's before as well, but those crickets weren't quite as meaty as those I received from Ghann's. And not as plentiful in terms of extra stowaways, either :)

Ghanns is an excellent company, I use to use them all the time, but found a closer dealer in Fl that's cheaper, and also a very nice company called Lazy H Bait. Don't know of anyone further up north..

I've used Premium Crickets and been very pleased with them. Also, we are fostering some reptiles for someone who has been deployed. She has a regular shipment of crickets from Millbrook sent every two weeks for her beardies.. They are very good crickets, also.

Lazy H ships 1000 to me for $18, but I don't know if it would be more for you because the distance...and they don't have a site, it's call-in only.

Hungry lizard has been the lowest however the shipping and handling costs are more than what I'm paying now for a box of 500.looks like ill be stuck driving =( unless anyone knows of any businesses with low s and h

Hey Casey, how are you ? Long time since I've seen you and Darla in Michigan. We always got good crix through you back then at the Taylor show. Say hi to Darla....anyway, I have used Ghann's for quite a while now, with my last order I got a notification, as I did last year, that they are closed for the holidays. I don't remember if they closed THIS early last year, but it was for some amount of time. That's all I know...they will reopen [ I believe] on January 3rd.

Hi Angie, We are doing well (I guess, I have a "redo" right shoulder rotator cuff surgery tomorrow, that will limit me for a long while), The Taylor show has gotten a little slow since they moved IMO, but you should go in Feb. that is always the best show...
I heard the news from someone who should know, you may want to make some calls just in case. I believe Ghanns has been fighting with the virus since early summer, and it is a horrible virus that leaves no live crickets in its wake....Good luck!

Hi Casey...hope all goes well with your surgery. Darla will have to take care of you for a while now, feeding you along with all the other critters ! As far as the rumors about Ghann's, I've heard them as well....and no one really knows which company may go under next. I don't think any co. will announce beforehand until they are at the point where they can't supply the customer any longer. So...I think it's just a waiting game. And oh, I haven't been to the Taylor show in years. I don't venture out that way or to the Columbus show anymore, either.

I used to order from Ghanns religiously, and have never had any problems with them. However I now use coldbloods.com ..Great service and great prices.

I've been using LLLReptiles.com for several months now. I get 2000 at a time and they're only $.02 each, and that includes shipping. As long as I order by like Noon (don't quote me on that, but it's within an hour or so), they are delivered by 1030 the next morning.

We use GreatLakesHornworm.com and have used several others but these guys have the cleanest healthiest crickets we have ever received......seriously we had NO DEAD ONES. We have ordered from other places and get lots of dead ones and they seem to stink more......not sure why but these guys are great and the hornworms are top on the list of all of our lizards menu preferences......THEY LOVE THEM. Also, when you call there, Rob actually answers the phone....kind of nice to hear the person you are buying from answering the phone.....) Good luck.

I've used about a half a dozen companies in the past 15 years and I'll just say this. I've found them all to be about the same overall. When I look to purchase crickets I look for 4 things Quality (healthy crickets and consistent sizes, no spiders), Count, Price and Service. I'll put up with deficiencies in one or two if the others are superior but I have yet to find one that is consistently above all others in all categories. I have found that the best for quality and count has decent prices but poor service. The best in price has so so service and poor counts on some sizes. The best for service has poor counts and so so prices etc. etc.

Some people think the company they use is great but they have never used anyone else so they don't know how much better certain areas can be. I think all of the companies listed will get you crickets and overall you will be satisfied with most of them. I know this didn't really help you but I just wanted to say that i certainly don't think there is one BEST place to buy crickets. If you find something lacking in one provider don't be afraid to try someone else.

I know I will be looking at a few of the lesser known ones listed here.

when I had my lizards I found Ghanns and I have been 100% happy with their service. Back then they used FedEx to ship and I had my bugs before 10am. Now that they use UPS I wouldnt get my bugs till after 2pm so if I ever get back into insect eaters I will have to find another source.... but only because of the shipping method used.
