• In case most of you have not noticed, I made changes to the donation amounts as well as the durations for all of the paid membership levels. Things are winding down here, and this seems to be the most prudent way to deal with the "end of life" period of this site.

    Contributor level members - $10 per 30 days
    Sponsors - Eliminated
    Benefactor level members - $25 per 30 days
    Endowment level members - $50 per 30 days

    On July 1, 2027, all paid memberships will be closed.

    On August 1, 2027, FaunaClassifieds will be terminated.

    Only change I expect that might take place is when I can get around to figuring out when the amount of money I would have to refund for the yearly paid memberships becomes less than the monthly expense of leasing my server, THAT date might be the termination date for the site.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Anyone know how to make a good humidifier for a chameleon? I have a system right now, but would like to upgrade the cage, and it wouldnt work with the humidifier I have. Not looking to buy a system, looking to make one

I have found that the ultrasonic humidifiers carried at home good stores work great. You can modify the mist outlet to allow for PVC to be attached and then you can plumb it into the cage however you want.

I'm planning on making my own humidifier. I have a c-pap breathing machine that was remaining when my father in law passed a year or so ago. I am simply going to open it up and bypassed the controls so that it can be wired to a timer or preferably a humidistat. It even has the hose that comes off of it that would go to the face mask. I'm simply going to run the hose to a large plastic nipple I will attach to the side of the cage and place a sensor in the cage for the humidistat. Should work out nicely. I can get pics of the machine for anyone who hasn't heard of a c-pap machine. It wouldn't be cost effective to purchase one for reptile use, but if you could get a used one or if one is left to you, they should work great. You have to use distilled water in it though, but I'm not sure why, probably hard mineral buildup inside it.

I just rounded the output on an ultrasonic humidifier with a dremmel and attached a piece of PVC. The terrarium is a 75gal, the humidifier is plumbed up the side and around to the front. Takes about 15 min to completely fog the tank. It runs four times a day, and uses about 1 gallon of deionized water every two weeks.
