In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy BEWARE! Ken, the owner of Exotic Pets LLC is not a reputable dealer!

Bias has nothing to do with it. We live in the same town and he was nice enough to take the time to help me out. I would not hesitate to call him out if warranted. Now, Jenny and you have taken this to a whole 'nother level implying Ken could be possibly selling other people's snakes as his own? A huge reach bordering on the paranoid and a tangent that blurs the initial complaints.

Cruised right by my comments on having your buddy make Ken jump through hoops sexing a big order merely to exact a small measure of glee as some form of payback. Speaks volumes to me. Do some research and learn how to sex them yourself, it will benefit you greatly in the long-run.

I am going to go beyond the word "pettiness."

This is an unbelievably whining post!

Whinnnnne : He didn't put them in two separate bags after sexing them!! Whinnnnne because he didn't bag them separately, I had to pay a Vet to sex them (because I turned down his offer to return things for a do-over at my expense because I don't know how to sex, yet).

I think the breeder handled it professionally and I would do business with him if I were into Boas.

My husband bought 9 adult pacman frogs from ken last winter. I had a shipment of 5 and then a few weeks later a shipment of 4. It was less than 20 degrees when the frogs arrived with over a foot of snow on the ground.

Every frog lived and were warm in the box. I have never had a problem with kens packing or shipping. I know he doesn't drop ship. We buy from the same wholesalers so I would know.

If you have a problem with sexing the two rosy boas go on YouTube and type in snake probing. It will show you how by some of the top breeders. It's not hard at all. He may have thought you were experienced and put the snakes together. When you deal with wc and cb animals in the Same facility it is hard to keep mites away all the time. It does occur and its treatable.:D

You will need to figure out how to probe before you start producing babies because buyers are also going to want guaranteed sexes. So, the headache that Ken may have caused you can be looked at as a blessing in helping you down the road.

I'm not going to touch the "mites" incident. Unless the breeder admits the possibility, it's entirely possible that the mites came from the buyer's own collection.

I have paid for specific gendered snakes, received them in individually marked containers (bags, or delis), and found them to be wrong.
I have paid for a single, specific gendered snake, on multiple occasions, and found some to be wrong.
I have purchased multiple snakes of the same species, and some have come packaged singly, while others were packaged in groups.

In other words - if you care about the gender of the snake, always double check; and packing them together isn't the worst thing in the world.

I've purchased from Ken a couple of times; with varying levels of satisfaction with my purchases...though I will state that the one time there was a real problem, Ken made it right without hesitation. I honestly can't recall if any of the snakes I received from him had mites...and, while I won't go along with the statement that they are a typical part of buying snakes, I will agree that every new acquisition should be treated as if it had them.

In closing, I feel comfortable stating that you would be hard pressed to find any breeder/seller that would pay a vet fee for you to sex get your purchases probed. I'm not going to knock the fact that you haven't learned yet; but if you have breeding projects, it's time for you to learn.

I do not think Mites are ever acceptable, and would not consider complaining about getting mites whining. I ship my hatchlings in seperate containers, for a variety of reasons. Cannot think of one good reason to ship two snakes in one container, maybe lazy, maybe wanting to save money using one container and not two? If Ken admitted sending you mites, and brushed it off, I would say that is a good reason never to buy an animal from him.

You paid for a sexed pair of snakes and you got a sexed pair of snakes(the term doesn't mean the snakes will be labeled as which sex, it means that you recieve a male and a female, checked by the seller to be the correct sex). Unless you prove you did recieve a missexed snake, you have no case there at all.

All the emails seem fine to me. Nothing seems rude, insulting or degrading at all. The worst I see is his comment that he was unaware you could not sex. You must have a extremely thin skin to think those were insulting and demeaning.

Shipping in the same container would seem to me to be up to the shipper, although I prefer individual containers and most of my animals have arrived in individual containers.

However, mites are never acceptable. Not ever. I don't care if you have two snakes or two thousand snakes, CBB or imports. You should never ship out an animal infested with mites. RI is also treatable, and that's not acceptable, why should the fact that mites are treatable mean it's acceptable to receive an animal infested?

Please post your vet paperwork, or proof of the mites. You did say you have the new animals quarentined, but is there any other animals in quarantine also? Four days is a long time to not notice any mites.

harald nailed it, i dont care who i get snakes from, i ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS double check sex. whether the snake(s) are from bob clark or john smith, you should always double check. and probably learning how to yourself would be very beneficial

and the mites thing, it is not, nor should it ever, be a part of the hobby and buying an animals. if an animal has mites, you either take picture/video proof immediately and address the seller/breeder, or you suck it up and quarantine them (as you should anyway) and treat them yourself.

This is just my personal opinion, but I believe that EVERYONE should verify the sexes of the animals they receive immediately. Mistakes happen to everyone. No one is perfect. Even with a one in a thousand odds of making a mistake, that means that there will be one animal out of every one thousand that will be sexed incorrectly. That one animal could be one that YOU just got. Quite frankly, I would take anyone claiming that they NEVER make this sort of mistake with a LARGE grain of salt. It DOES happen to even the best of us.

Sex them now while the mistake could be easy to rectify. Waiting until they are breeding age a couple of years later to then find out that you have a mis-sexed snake is going to really put you behind the eightball, and not leave much room for the seller to do anything about it that would make you real happy. It would be highly unlikely that a seller would have an adult available for you to breed NOW, so you will really be in the lurch with your breeding plans if this happens to you.

Like Harold, I too have bought from Ken multiple times with varying degrees of satisfaction. I purchased a group of 5 adult bloods once and some adult gonyosomas as well as other things.

The OP is right. Very rarely does Ken mark the package or send them in separate containers. For both of my big orders, none of the animals were marked m vs f and I called Ken about it. He was pleasant, easy to speak with and apologized that they were not clearly marked. I popped them or probed them and placed them into the right enclosure based on sexing.

While I find Ken's packaging a little less than some other breeders, I will say that the animals are properly packaged for their health, which is more important to me.

The only time I ever had an issue with an animal I got from Ken, he IMMEDIATELY made it right for me.

I would not hesitate to buy from him again and have made multiple purchases from him and will continue when he has what I want.

Ken Foose

Ken and I have done business for 20 plus years without a problem. If Ken sexed the snakes their sexed correctly. As Webslave stated everyone makes mistakes so it's best to double check. I have received MANY mis-sexed snakes including one from a vet/breeder.

As far as the packaging goes I would be more concerned about the actual shipping box they were sent in. I received a pair of snakes once in a 1/8" cardboard "cell phone" box in the middle of winter with no heat pack. Personaly I seperate sexes and label the individual containers, but I have a very small number of animals I work with.

The mite issue needs documentation and if in fact they did have mites when shipped thats not good business and I'm sure Ken would either work with you to elimininate the mites or as he allready offered give you a full refund. As far as paying shipping both ways if you have proof of the mites he would most likey pay the extra shipping cost and you would be out nothing.

I got some green snakes from Ken in the spring of this year. Instead of just assuming he would, I specifically asked him to seperate the males and females and mark the containers. He was happy to do that for me.

Maybe if you wanted something a certain way, you should have requested it beforehand like I did. I'm sure he would have happily accomidated you.

Now if the mite thing is true, like others have said, that's different. But is there proof? Not so far...

Mites in my stock? NOT!!!

These mites are ONLY on te Roay's which are quaranteened in the basement, far away from the 2nd-level Snake Room LOL

I have decided to "suck it up" as you say and treat them myself. I have no choice now that he refuses to take them back with mites. He too is accusing me of giving the snakes mites out of my stock. The Vet showed me what to look for and I inspectd each and every animal. Just the Rosy Boas.

Even if I sent them back, I would have been out $40 with absolutely nothing to show for it, and Bad Guy Ken would have come out Scott Free!

Yes, I would have eventually learned how to probe. As I did this time....The Vet let me do it while she coached me. I had no plans in being forced to learn now. I had 3+ years to learn!!

And, DeborahBroadUs....this may seem petty to you, but it's not to me. The Vet bill increased te cost of the Roay Boas by over 10%, and me and the snakes have to battle mites (fun)!!!

I fought for YOU in Vietnam, and brought back a prosthetic, a prosthetic arm and no hearing in my right ear. I live on a FIXED income. Fourty dollars will feed me for a week! I could NOT afford $40 for a Vet bill when I had ALREADY PAID FOR THEM TO BE SEXED!!!!!

LadyReptile - Again, I know about the YouTube videos, and have watched my Vet to this many times. I just did not think it was in the best interest of the snakes for them to be my first attempt. I did give it a try by the way....it did not start easily and I was not going to force it.

Even a few of you on hear have agreed all shippments of animals are seperate.

Ken at Exotic Pets LLC made one error that caused all this, by packaging the animals together. Nobody else does this, nobody!

Preaching to the wrong choir, there - Deborah is deaf :shootfoot

As far as your service, it is appreciated; but what, exactly, does it have to do with this thread?

I found my Vet bill and it just says "Office Visit $40".
I will have my Vet produce a letter stating they have mites, so I can post it on here for all to see....but it will do no good.

Tad Fitzgerald -> Ken has already stated he will NOT pay return shipping, so I will be out the $57. Because of this, and that he won't pay my $40 Vet bill...I'd be $97 in the hole. For this reason I will go ahead and keep / treat the snakes and just hope they came from the Limburg bloodline as was promised. For some reason, I doubt his word there too :(

RainBoaMan - Yes I had a picture of each. I had no idea though 1 was over twice as big as the other. Even though the difference in size, and even though Ken supposedly sexed them himself, he could not tell me which was the big one and which was the smaller one.
