In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Beware of Derril Geller the Scammer!

Nope, as I stated, we prefer everything in one thread. From the 'Rules for posting on the BOI' shown below, if you have any questions or wish to continue discussion on this topic, let's move that to the Fauna Feedback Forum please so it doesn't become off topic here. http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8880:
"Please utilize the SEARCH function as much as possible before starting a new thread (topic line). In many instances, it is much better to continue an existing thread rather than starting a new one in order to preserve continuity in the information about a person or business. Most readers are much more inclined to read a single long thread, rather than dozens of smaller ones scattered all over the BOI. So don't let your message get lost in the clutter by ignoring this simple rule."

Are you going to name the source for the other statement you made?

Thank you for the clarifications. I will PM the other person who more than likely got taken advantage of by Derril Geller to see if they wish for me to quote them or allow them to reply.

I was recently scammed by this guy as well.

He posted a pair of 2012 Butter Pastels on Craigslist locally. I believe he posted them at $250 for the male and $350 for the female. $600 total. I offered him $500 and we setup a meet.
When I met him and looked at them, the male looked to be around 40grams, the female maybe 60grams. I asked him if they had any problems, mites, feed issues, etc. He said NO.

I took them out of the cups and immediately noticed mites. I showed this to him and he said, 'Oh that's nothing, that easy to fix'. I then noticed the male being emaciated, with spine showing and flaps of skin on either side. The female was very thin but didn't have skin folds. I showed disgust and asked what happened. He said he breeds rats but didn't have any rat pups to feed him in the past 2 weeks.

The condition of that snake did NOT happen in 2 weeks... and then why did the female not look the same?!

I proceeded to tell him I couldn't pay that for these animals, and kept going on about the condition and the mites, and he said, 'i'll just take them home and clean them up and post them on Kingsnake for full price'.

I didn't think it was right to let him go home with those animals so I offered him $400 and he quickly took it.

I had to keep them in my kitchen (far away from snake rooms) for 7 days to treat them extensively for mites. I offered them rat pups as soon as I could and neither one took them. This is what he was supposedly feeding them.

They've been eating rat hoppers, because they are soo thin, 2 at a time, and still haven't been showing weight gain. I have had to keep them in a seperate room and am planning to take them to my vet next week. Something doesn't seem right with them.

Another local friend mentioned someone in lehigh offered him a trade for an enchi he had and after discussing this with my friend it was the same guy. I told him to beware and what happened to me. After meeting him, my friend said he was offered sickly looking snakes with mites as well and he declined.

No bueno.

He still posts on SWFL Craigslist often and currently has a 264g butter pastel male for sale for $350 that is 'slamming baby rats and growing fast'. Maybe that is one of the healthy siblings to my snakes.. lol

I'm the guy joe is talking about. Yes I had heard from joe that he found a "great deal" on pastel butters in Lehigh and I was excited for him. Till I called a couple days later and found out how not so great it was. That was the same day I was supposed to meet derril. I went and met derril anyways and figured I would use my judgment and decide wether to make the deal or not. I check the snake over real good or as good as I could at 8:30 at night in the parking lot. I did notice a few mites. His size was accurate to what he said he would be. I kept him in a separate room and treated him for mites. " Thanks Joe for the advice". I guess I made out better than others but I know that its hard not to notice a couple hunderd mites on a very light colored animal. I emailed him and told him about the mites and he said thanks I didn't notice. I then emailed a few days later "after quarantine" and told him the snake ate and asked about the mite situation with his other snakes and he said he noticed a couple others and they are being treated. Now remember, this is after Joe told him and showed him his snakes were infested with mites. He's no dummy, just ignorant. That's worse than stupid in my opinion. I hope your snakes turn out ok Joe.

I am sorry to hear about how this guy has a trend of neglecting animals and exerting cruel behavior into them...I don't understand your decision of purchasing the snakes in this condition of your own free will.

That then becomes your decision and is inaccurate (in my opinion) of being scammed. It was an attempted scam that you enabled him to fulfill and he left with a positive experience (instead of what should have been a negative one) and will move on to the next victim...not that I have an ounce of confidence he would have restrained from doing so anyhow.

I am sorry to hear about your issues though and the fact he is still at large abusing and selling sick animals.

I'm so lost as to why you guys proceeded with the deal after knowing this guy is selling known mite infested snakes, some of which are malnurished. I would never contribute to the success of someone who abuses animals by not feeding, allowing mite infestations, misinforms potential buyers, etc...

Again, your business but I am just in awe of why you guys would conclude a deal with some one who is a proven liar, animal abuser, and deplorable to our hobby/industry. There are plenty of proven 1st class breeders that back their snakes. There are other issues the snake could have that don't surface until months later that could wipe out your entire collection...why is it worth it to keep him going and risking your collections?

Justin

Also, it sounds like this guy does business on the road, evading his residence during these inhumane and unethical sales. I have his physical address, email address, telephone number, and detailed personal info if you guys need it...just PM me.
