I have a very good friend who purchased a Gila from him and received it through Delta.
Since I eventually ended up with the animal I can say that it was very well represented and a beautiful animal indeed.

There has been many accusations in the past regarding Jeff Barringer's ties to Jason.
When Kingsnake closed down their Field Collecting forum, a great guy named Christian opened up a new forum at www.fieldherpers.com that has been very successful. There was some criticism of Kingsnake's heavy handed moderators and many of the regulars from the Kingsnake's Field Collecting forum drifted over to Fieldherpers.com (including Jason).
One night, Christian mentioned to Jason in the Fieldherpers.com chatroom that he planned to expand his herp forums and had come up with a good domain name. He unwisely (because he hadn't registered it yet) mentioned the domain name to Jason.
Jason immediately went out and registered the name himself(herphobbyist.com) but what's interesting is the new administrative contact for the name.

Since we are doing character studies so often of late let's ask Jason a couple of questions.

If you do where did you get it?

Why is jeff your administrative contact?

Why is jeff your technical contact?

Why did you register the name Christian had told you he planned to use?

Theres a few things that have been left out about that domain name. (herphobbyist.com) or what ever it was
1. it wasnt a domain name that they had intended use for the site at all. Its use was strictly for entertainment value. Who ever the guy is that runs the feild herpers site thought it would be funny to blackmail Jeff with. He also had a bunch of other ideas on how he was going to use the name all of which were intended to harrass Jeff. All I did was turn the joke on him and obviously he didnt like that very much with all the whinning he did about it.

2. He had another domain chosen which he intended to use for his site and his site only. herpforums.com or something to that effect. I dont rember anymore, all I rember is it had something to do with herps and forums in the domain. I am sure someone out there knows what it is because he did register it and link it to his site. Now I could have taken that one as well, but I didnt. He had good intentions for it to use with his site so I left that one alone.

3. whom ever the guy is that runs the site knows all this. He knows what his intended use of that name was however has never said anything to anyone. He intended to make a big joke out of it spoke of blackmailing jeff with it also had a bunch of other creative ways he intended to use it. He knows that so do I and so do the other two that were in the chat that night.

4. the reason the .com is in Jeffs name(if you do a search on it now youll see he owns it) is because I gave it to him,I had no use other then a good laugh which is what I got. They were simply pissed because instead of them laughing at Jeff I was laughing at them and their parinod stampede to by all the .coms they could think of jeffb.com etc etc etc. I think they even bought jasonsweigart.com. Watching to fallout of their joke gone sour was priceless!!!

Had my intentions been illwilled towards who ever it is that runs that site or the site itself I would have taken both .com names because I could have! There was no ill will towards him or his site, I just simply blew his joke up right in front of his face. Whatever his name is, is simply a sore loser, I beat him to the punch of the joke on that one and it pissed him off.

In this situation concerning the domain either both myself and the guy who runs fieldherpers are bad shady guys or neither of us. Either way you look at it his intentions were to use it as a joke against someone else mine were to use it as a joke against him. So you tell me who is wrong? either we are both wrong or we are both just part of a prank and one didnt like the end he got. Like I said I could have taken the other name that he did buy, but his intentions with it were good so I didnt.

I understand now that it is ok for you to be a jerk as long as someone else was going to do it first, at least according to what you have said. I read the fieldherper stuff when it happened and that was not what was said over there. Ok fine, you're the type of guy who will jump off a cliff as long as someone else goes first. Gotcha.

The plasma screen TV thing though, that one bugs me. It would seem that a man with nothing to hide would have no problems answering my questions without bringing adam into it or his bad dealings in the past. We can deal with adam another time, this time is about you. So how about answering my questions? You are really not making yourself look good here, not good at all.

His site was intended to offer another option to people who had become disillusioned with Kingsnake's forums. It was never intended to blackmail Jeff or be a Kingsnake joke site...that's a ridiculous lie.
Christian's site is still up and doing well almost a year later....not bad for a mean spirited joke, huh?

On February 20th, Gerry brought to my attention that FieldHerpers.com was not necessarily the best name to use if we wanted to include the whole herp keeping community.

That night, in the chat room, I did something THAT I WILL NEVER ****** DO AGAIN. I tried to ask people for opinions on available domain names that I had researched, that would be appropriate; and to also ask for deas of their own...

Apparently, when I was asking for opinions on available domain names, someone else in the forum, decided to take it upon themselves to STEAL MY ****** IDEAS, and register one of the names I was going to use.

I know that it is a public Chat room, and that I do not require people to register or post who they are..HOWEVER I DO EXPECT PEOPLE TO TREAT THAT CHATROOM LIKE IT IS A MEETING ROOM TO DISCUSS IDEAS! I CAN'T TELL ANYONE A ******* THING NOW BECAUSE I AM AFRAID IF I SHARE ANY IDEAS, THEY WILL BE STOLEN!

I was really hoping that this would be a community that stood up for each other, not one that STABBED EACH OTHER IN THE BACK.

I KNOW WHO WAS IN THE CHAT. I KNOW WHO ***STOLE*** MY IDEA. THAT PERSON SHOULD NOT EXPECT ANY FURTHER CORRESPONDENCE FROM ME ABOUT ANYTHING.

As a result, until further notice, all suggestions should be EMAILED to me, not posted in the Suggestion forum. This is the only way that I can insure that any ideas shared on this site remain here.

I also will be refraining from posting anything else in regards to contributing to the improvement of the site. Please if you feel it necessary, EMAIL me.

Right now I feel very violated that someone would take advantage of the openness of this group and abuse it in such a way.

I built this site because I trusted that the people here could create a open/honest community amongst themselves, and I still believe that. I only edited the obscenities as he was understandably upset when he wrote it. To be fair, Chrisitian isn't even aware that I posted any of this and I should have told him first (although I did send him a link). I was going to let it rest with my original post but I can't sit here while Jason makes Christian's efforts out to be nothing more than a mean spirited joke. He's built a great online community with some terrific people. It may have been started because of Kingsnake.com's policy changes but it's grown into a great site in it's own right.

This was indeed the name I intended to use as a website name, I only registered herpforums.com AFTER you registered the other name behind my back, while posing as an interested participant in my site. Herphobbyist.com was on my short list BEFORE anyone was told about it in the chat room. The joking part came up when someone thought it sounded like pethobbyist, which I flat out stated in the chat room that I hadnt even considered that when I added it to my list, and then the joking began. I had every intention of using that domain name to build a reputable site (which I have done under herpforums.com/fieldherpers.com anyhow) yet you chose to violate some basic trust issues that I felt I had with my members. Due to your actions, I could not trust anyone with any information or help in decisions with subsequent issues that I wanted input on.

Apparently you do not understand the line between fact and fancy. You stated we were JOKING. How does joking turn into blackmail in your mind? And you based this on only hearing PART of the conversation?

If you would like, I could post the transcripts of that particular chat for all to see. It is obvious that 10 you joined the conversation late, and had no idea what my intentions were, and 2) you took advantage of the open community aspect of my site by posing as someone who cared about its success, and then turned around and took advantage of it. I will agree that I should not have shared information with anyone on names I was registering, but with a site that is run by and for its members it seemed like a good idea at the time. Hindsight is 20/20

In my opinion, you are neither to be trusted in business nor relied on for anything resembling honesty. You have definitely not shown that you are a person of integrity or character.
