In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Beware Of Jeanne from MASS

I agree that Jeanne should offer a FULL refund to Brian. However, since there was no live arrival guarantee stated anywhere in any instance in this case, she is not REQUIRED to do so(except ethically and morally).
Also, at least from what I read, Jeanne said that UPS told her the gecko would arrive by 1:30 pm. Well, if you subtract the 3 hour time difference, that is 10:30 am is it not? Not trying to back Jeanne or say she is in the right, but if that was the case, it seems to me that maybe she did use the right kind of shipping.
And of course the BOTH of you are NUTS to have an animal shipped to Vegas in the heat of summer!!! Even with a cool pack the risk of overheating is big. I am not shipping right now due to the excessive heat here in Atlanta(mid 90s), and I would HATE to think how bad it is in Vegas right now. I think you both lost your cabbage on that issue.

she told me that she would ship next day air. which guarantees delivery by 10:30am. she used ups next day saver. when i called ups about delivery being rescheduled to the next day they told me it would be delivered that day but saver only guarantees next day by 70pm delivery. instaed of going out with the next day packages it gfoes out in the trucks with the ground shipments. If she had used next day air as she had promised the gecko would most likely have survived. My 3 girls were shipped this way with no cold pack and arrived by 90am and are doing fine. she choose the cheaper shipping. the gecko did arrive at 1:30pm.

I ment a cool pack! I have no idea why I keep doing that.
Thanks
Justyn

Rob...Sorry, buddy...but, I have to disagree with you on that point....in this industry (where you're dealing in LIVE animals)....there is the presumption that your animal will make it to you alive....it's an "unwritten" guarantee! ONLY if the seller states that there is NO live arrival guarantee....can you say that....if the live arrival guarantee is NOT written....it is ASSUMED!! It's ridiculous to believe that anyone would buy an animal with no expected live guarantee! It's like an unwritten LAW in the herp business that a person is paying for a LIVE animal....and expects to receive it alive....if not....go to the taxidermist!!
As far as shipping goes....if you KNOW how to package an animal, and know what a styrofoam-lined box looks like, and what a cool pack is (AND how to "install" them), and know what shipping method to use...there should be no reason whatsoever that any animal should die in transit....no matter where it's going, no matter what time of year it is! My parents live in Vegas, and I have friends that also live there who buy reptiles from me....I have never had a death due to heat exhaution....if it weren't for some people's "greed" to be able to make an extra $10 that was supposed to go for shipping....very few people would have a problem with DOA's! If you're in this business....know the product, know the temps around the country at different times of the year, and know how to pack an animal like you're going to receive it yourself! Use cool packs...use heat packs...use styrofoam...use newspaper, towelling, whatever it takes to ensure live delivery to your customer....
If you do it right the FIRST time...you'll never have to do it again!! ....Neil

BTW....Jeanne...you STILL owe him a full refund! This was YOUR mistake...NOT his!

I agree with Neil, it is all in the way you package your animals. I think anyone who does not offer at least a guarantee for live arrival, is hiding something, because why else would you not stand behind the health and quality of your animals? You have to have some kind of customer service.
Jeanne you still need to riemburse him.

Too bad You can't make her listen. i tried and she blocked my email. I'm hoping paypal will see things my way when they review this. Thanks for the support. I didn't think i was wrong in this.

Brian Bladow

Neil, I hope you didn't take my post to mean that Jeanne SHOULDN'T give Brian a refund. I fully think she needs to, for EVERYTHING. Gecko AND shipping charges. I was only stating that from a LEGAL standpoint, if it is not stated, unwritten laws are only as good as the paper they are written on.

As far as shipping in the heat, I know how to properly package my animals for safe shipment and have only had one DOA. However, UPS does not ALWAYS read the labels and warnings on the box. Packages sit in trucks, get left on loading docks, etc. Hell, I even know a guy that lost several grand in geckos because they were left on the TARMAC at the airport. Proper packing cannot prevent human error. If temperatures are milder I have no problem shipping because if the box gets left somewhere, it is not such a big deal because they probably won't cook.

Jeanne
I hope your reading this. Since you say you have blocked my email i will post this. The Body was sent back July 31 Priority Mail which should take 3 days. when will i recieve my refund in full. As i told you a partial refund is not acceptable. If this is what is given the i will continue with my complaints to my credit card and paypal. If paypal refunds my money they will charge you a fee so it will end up costing you more. I hope reading replies to "your side of the story has helped you realize you are in the wrong here.

I have dealt with UPS regaurding DOA's before, And they have always refunded my money. (Me being the shipper). UPS automatically includes $100 insurance in every shipment. Since you did not claim the package damaged when you recieved it, You can claim consealed damage, This means the contents were damaged on the inside. This should have been taken care of by jeanne. Since the body was shipped back to her it is probly too late. So I guess this post is for future reference.

Dude, I suggest you quit while you are ahead (figuratively speaking). She has refunded the purchase price + the return shipping costs. Considering the history between you two, you should consider yourself lucky. Chock it up as a bad experience and move on. I realize the principal behind this, but it is time to move on. In your situation, most people don't see a dime back. So drop it and go elsewhere with your business. P!ss, moan, and b!tch about it too long, and it could end up backfiring on you.

Good luck, take care, and have a nice day.

I agree that she did more to slander herself than Brian did. I would not buy from anyone who did not guarantee live arrival of their animals. Jeanne, you should have taken responsability for making sure the animal arrived safely. People send money for live animals, not dead ones. You should have known what the weather was like in Vegas, because it is patently obvious. Vegas is in the desert. It's hot. Would you have shipped the gecko to Maine in the dead of winter with no heat packs? And yet you sent a live animal cheap next day air with no morning delivery and nothing to keep it cool. Admit you screwed up and give him all his money back, or your tarnished reputation will cost you far more in the future.

Just as a point of reference, I recently ordered an item off ebay, and it was sent in the wrong color. I emailed the vendor, and got a reply the very next day offering to send a replacement for free, without having to send the other one back, along with some other similar items to make up for the mixup. That vendor made me glad I bought from him. You, on the other hand, have made your customer unhappy, are warning others by your actions not to buy from you in the future, and last but certainly not least killed one of your own animals through your own negligence.

If You use paypal don't expect help if you receive a dead animal. They only care if the animal was shipped not what condition it was shipped in. Or arrives in.

This was paypals reply.

Jeanne Leary....Not a bad Person at all!!!!

I just had to reply to this post although I know it is older...But I ordered 3 Albinos from her and never had a problem. Her geckos were both beautiful and healthy.I found her to be one of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with.I also had mine shipped in the middle of the summer and they were fine. You(Brian) were NOT entitled to a refund of the shipping costs. You were Lucky that she was nice enough to refund what you paid for the gecko. With all the "lovely" things you have said about this poor woman.Had it been me you would have gotten nothing.I had to reply to this because I just don't believe Jeanne desrves any of the disrespect and name slandering she has recieved because of you!!!.
Jeanne if you ever need a refernce I would be more than happy to give it to you.
Robin

oops

It was the Tangerine I bought from Jeanne not the albinos and I had no problems with shipping or any other problems She was a joy to deal with.I do not believe she desrves any of the problems that you have caused her.
