I had a 7' Retic. (said dwarf 7 yrs old) i purchased from a Sara and Michael Clark. They had auctions running on Retile Auction. A friend asked me to just check out the site. I had been looking for weeks off and on for another Retic.

I had emailed the seller after a few pictures and some info. was sent to me about the snake, and i wanted to purchase it.

I paid Fedex! After which Sara wrote me and said they wanted a gas charge at Fedex and she was sending the snake UPS. I said not UPS they run late here. If this snake came Fedex as i paid for the delivery would have been at 10:30am. I recieved an email AFTER the snake was at the UPS drop, under her private business name. This snake arrived after she dropped it off at UPS btw and then emailed me after the fact and insured me in an email not to worry they always use UPS for her Pure Romance business to ship snakes, that he would be fine.

I asked in an email for cool packs we are running in the 90's in Fl. And to please mark the box Perishable etc.

UPS always arrives usually at 6:00pm at my home. They dropped off the snake at 5:55pm.

Does not matter much i guess, i took the box which was very very warm to the feel, and my roomate and i opened it quickly, the snake was packed in a SMALL box, inside a childs (appeared to be) pillow case, inside a plastic bag tied shutwith no air!!!!

I am here to tell my story and show emails. I took pictures of the snake dead within minutes and sent them to her. Dead Retic. box, (she claims her box was white) and a thick plastic bag!

I contacted animal services the next day and they came out to take pictures, and the body along with a report. I have a simple copy of the pick-up of the dead snake from Animal Services.

Sara or her husband, not sure which has emailed me and said instead of running around why don't i just ask for a refund! I did!!!!!
I emailed them and asked them to call me. She did finally, she would not let me speak to her husband. She said UPS killed her snake. Wrong box she says (she claimed it was the wrong snake at first as well, it is not) and the police are going to be called, i tried to help her because she thought the drop off UPS had tampered with the package, i asked her to go in the drop off and see if there are cameras (maybe people are recorded on tape at these places i don't know) etc. and she asked if she should contact police, i said what ever you think happened, do it. She emailed me saying the police will contact me or my police Dept. Nothing!

Now they refuse my emails and one last call i made to their home.

I gave them every proof they needed. I told them i was very sad this has happened to the snake and me as i am Retic. keeper and lover very much, many people know this.

Still Paypal today said all they have to do (Sara or Mike) is click a button and i get my refund, they also suggested going to my cc company which i have with all the emails, and animal Services was kind enough to fax a report to my bank, while i wrote up a report about what has happened.

This is first a sad story. Second i am not here to be slammed. I am here to let others know this has happened. Sara tells me they sell reptiles weekly and they seem to be on Reptile Auctions as that is where i seen more reptiles sold and for sale by them.

I am stunned, sad and livid. If she has a problem with UPS, i should have been refunded by now. This was no wrong doing on my part. The snake has suffocated!

I have pretty graphic pictures of a dead snake imo. And countless emails with them saying it's ok. The snake will arrive fine.

Here is one email. I had already paid for Fedex delivery, and shipping cost. Then she decided to go to UPS. Sara and Michael deny wrong doing. UPS said the box was fine all through the trip. No mishap.

UPS runs late, period, it's FAR too hot to run in a truck until 6:00pm for a reptile without cool packs. I never once said anyone was stupid, i don't like that word. I do want my money back, yes of course! I bought a dead snake. Sara and i agreed on this last night, the snake has arrived DOA.

Think about this. Please. You say you ship UPS before and never had a problem. I talked with UPS today, they are not going to kill an animal, every move made in the facilities is recorded via camera feed.

The box would have had a stamp UPS if they had to put anything on it to make it more sturdy. There is not one stamp from UPS. And they would have contacted the dealer if a problem came about, which it did not. Did you call them too?

This is not an argument. This is reality. I lived it. The horror of opening your animal and it's dead. Me, never living this nightmare before... i am shocked. I spent over $1,000 including the animal to have it set up when my AP cage arrives.

Sure i want a refund, or even another animal if you can't do a refund, i'm willing to work with this somehow, (but it has to be an animal that is worth the Retic. and fits in my collection) that would have cool packs and be shipped Fedex, with proper breathing.

To not become enemies but work this out is very important to me.

I'm not the kind of person to name call or slam a person due to an accident. I only know i had the arrival the way i explained.

If we can reach an agreement this would be fine. My money back is important. But i honestly think there was a mistake with the shipping of this animal. I don't nor can i play games. This is my money, my snake, my life. It happened to me, what would you have done? Honestly. You can't do anything but contact the seller and let them know what has happened.
This i have done. I followed protocal here.

My email to you says not UPS... i did not pay for UPS, you told me it was going to be okay UPS. It was horrid. Fedex comes at 10:30am.

This being said, i am still very sad for the animal and me, for not getting to know it, and own it.

We have had some very strong storms this past week and it has knocked out power for ppl for a whole week...Fedex wanted 143.00 to ship to you today due to their backup!! So I shipped him through UPS under my business...So your retic says Pure Romance...lol...Sorry about that!! I still had to pay UPS 103.00 to get it to you tomorrow!! Yes, Pamela ... please post any pics you have. Of particular interest would be the dead snake, of course, the box, the box label and very important would be the plastic bag. The Animal Services report would be great, too.

I know if I received a dead snake in a plastic bag (inside a pillow case no less!), I wouldn't do one thing until I documented every last piece of photographic evidence to back me up in getting every penny back.

I did not want to come here because of the bunch of idiots who will post. But if i help others who do care about the reptile business i have done my job.

Pictures of the snake, their pillow case they will not deny. Their snake seconds after ripping open the plastic bag! SICK! Nothing but SICK!

7' (or as Sara said perhaps larger) in a small box like this to begin with makes me sick... then a plastic bag! Nothing but animal abuse.

I emailed Sara & Michael, at the address shown in Pamela's post, to advise them of this thread...hopefully they will respond.
 
Ok, i took pictures of the report as best i could without getting my full address in it.

Sorry but I don't believe anyone would ever pack a snake in a pillow case and then place it inside of a plastic bag to be shipped out.

And shock equals blurry pictures?

Did you take any pictures of the contents of the box before opening the bag?
And does that picture of the box represent how it arrived? Nothing inside except the plastic bag (no insulation, no padding/filler of any kind?

NO. The box was very very warm. All i wanted to do was get it opened. I did not even think about the knot in the plastic....i tore it open within seconds along with my roomate. To the tub running with the box and tearing to cool down an already dead snake. It was pretty pathetic.

The smell made ya want to vomit!

I asked for cool packs! No email saying ok. That should be a given, i told them we are running in the 90's down here. Sara said they are in the 60's on the phone the one time we talked.

No padding.

She said her box was white, has newspaper on the bottom and that childs pillowcase you see in the tub was how it was packaged.

The box i have is tan, no newspaper, no cool packs. Only her pillowcase, and a large plastic bag tied in a knot the same exact way the pillow case was!

She denied that was her snake as well. I will get a good shot of her label. and the report from animal control up. They came out very blurry.
But it's important to get them up. And i will.

Sara did not deny that was her label. She explained the color and way it was made up on the phone, that's the exact way the label is. It's her Pure Romance label.
 
Nonsense. You put a snake into a pillow case because you are conscious of two things. One the snake needs to be secured. And two the snake needs to breathe.

Why not put the snake inside a plastic bag and skip the pillow case if your that dumb and have no experience shipping animals?

This all looks staged by Pammy to place blame on the seller so she can get her refund.

Sure i think they should respond!!!! But not call on all the friends as happens to many people here, and the person who was wronged seems to always get slammed. I did not want to come here. But after many asking me to for their sake i did.

I came here once before due to wrong papers on a Boa. Ya know that was part of the deal....i expect exactly what i pay for, and nothing less, period.

I am sad, i am very upset. What a beautiful snake it was. They sent me a few pictures of it. I guess my mind can't understand how this could have happened. I love these animals, they are my passion. I'm not a breeder, these are my collection that i adore.

But i know i am putting up the proper info. and to me that is all that matters.

Well, if Sara & Mike come, maybe they will post the pics from the original ad so we can see if it is the same snake

I'm not denying that possibility, Chuck...just trying to be patient til all Sara and/or Mike get here to give their version
