• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

At this point I have decided to post this information on the BOI to warn all others to avoid dealing with this person. I posted about this in the General Business section. Here is a brief summary of what transpired:

I was looking at an auction on Reptibid for 2 burms. It was plainly marked as a "NO RESERVE" auction, with an opening bid of $10. So, I placed the opening bid (with around 10 or 12 days remaining until the end of the auction). I was outbid the next day by someone ($12 bid). So, a day goes by, and I see that the current high bidder has pulled their bid, and I am once agian the high bidder.

I go to the "ask seller a guestion" section, and the seller has stated that "the burms have been sold". The burms where sold AFTER there were bids placed on a NO RESERVE auction!! Would this bother anyone else? I can understand that they may have wanted to sell them for a higher amount than the current bid, but they:

1. did not let the auction run it's course to completion, so there is no telling how high the bids would have gotten.

2. posted these burms for auction with no reserve

Does anyone else think it is outright dishonest to do this? The TOS clearly state that once bids are placed, you are entering into a binding contract with the bidder to sell the items to them, providing that the bid is over the reserve amount (no reserve). Do you think that it is wrong to place animals up for auction, then to sell them elsewhere before the auction has ended?

To anyone that is interested, I have saved both the main auction page with all information, as well as the "ask seller a question" page to show what was said by both myself and the seller. I don't know how to do those "screen captures", so I copied the whole page and saved it in an email. If someone knows how to post a copy of that here, I will gladly forward the pages to you.

By the way, this auction that I described is still an active auction!

Now, some of you are aware of this from reading this thread:
http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23774

This persons email is [email protected]

Here is a link to the auction that is still active:
http://www.reptibid.com/cgi-bin/auction/auction.pl?category=d_tortoise_sulcatas&item=1061437683
You can see that is clearly states that this is a NO RESERVE auction.

Here is a link to the "ask seller a question" page.
http://www.reptibid.com/cgi-bin/auc...&category=d_tortoise_sulcatas&item=1061437683

This auction will end in a few days, so I have saved these pages in their entirety for all to see. Just give me your email address and I will forward them to you (don't know how to post the whole page here.

I have emailed this person several times, but never recieve a email back. She has posted in the auction cussing at me. I said exactly what I think about the situation in the auction (ask seller a question section) since that is the only way this person would respond. In my opinion she is a scammer. Please read all the comments (she says she had them sold before she ever put them up for auction!!!)

Sorry this is so long, but with this growing trend of using auction sites as just another form of classified advertising, I feel that others should know who to avoid.

By the way, I did notify reptibid of this when it first happened, (several times) and I have yet to recieve a response from them. They apparently don't care if people break the TOS over there, and let scammers openly use their auction site. I doubt I will be buying anything else from that site unless it is from someone I know personally.

Jason,
The seller apparently, as I see it, has two auctions with these same snakes listed. Just change the last number to a four instead of a 3 and you can view that one. I believe it is a currently running auction and the snakes have a bid of $41.00 or at least did when I last looked. I sent off an email to RepriBid to explain that I found this unethical and asked that they take some corrective action. Hopefully if they get enough email, they will do something about this seller.

Best regards,
Glenn B

Jason,

ReptiBid got back in touch with me pretty quickly to let me know that the user in question and her ads were deleted from their system. See the quoted email below:

Glenn,

The user along with the two items listed by that user have been deleted from the ReptiBid auction system. This users account should have already been deleted but I guess we overlooked it. Thank you for taking the time to sending me your email so that we might keep our system clean of people like this.

Thanks,

I guess they took action based on your emails to them after all.

This is the first and only email I have recieved from this person. I now know her name is Tanya Salas. She is apparently mad about being banned from Reptibid. The subject of the email was "dumdass", which I am guessing is suppossed to mean dumbass. I just recieved this email today after I posted on the BOI (which I told her I would do if she did not respond to me, and which I have provided her a link to).

I just wanted to add her actual name to this thread in case anyone ever does a search for information on this seller.
