In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy Beware of Zach ashwood ( bad news )

Wow - I'm not familiar with boas, but I am pretty good at identifying snakes by pattern. I beleive that this is the same snake.

I really hope someone with bigtime boa experience is willing to post and give us their educated perspective on this.

Before all you guys jump on this guys ship you should make sure he's telling you the facts. That picture...was taken two days ago, after he had the boa for 5 days. I DID NOT SHIP HIM LOOKING LIKE THAT. When I shipped him he had wrinkling on his neck and tail, if any of you know anything about boas you know baby boas can get wrinkly when they're going into shed.

And to the guy with 4 posts...stay out of the thread if you're going to make ignorant remarks. Some boas will eat while in shed...but it's not reccomended to try and feed them during shed. They stress when they're shedding and sticking food in front of their face is not always the brightest idea.

Again...for the third time. I sent Mike a healthy, eating boa that needed to shed. It's obvious he didn't take care of helping him shed. That's poor husbandry and how can I be responsible for him not taking care of his boa?

Trulyrare-You need to check yourself and get your facts straight before you go trying to tell me what's what. You weren't here...you weren't on the phone so you couldn't possibly know. HE DID NOT CALL ME THAT DAY AND TELL ME HE WAS UPSET. He emailed me and asked me why he was wrinkly, never once did he say he was "so wrinkly it's scary" Nothing even close to that. He never once complained until yesterday. He just kept asking me and I said he needed to shed. When I sold him, he was going into shed so I knew he would have some wrinkles. He had just eaten for me, and gets fresh water every two days. I sent a healthy snake. If he neglected to care properly that's not my deal.

Briscoe-It's the same snake. I had one 09 sunglow and that was him.

My biggest thing is this people. I cannot and won't take a snake back after a week with someone like Mike who obviously is a sub-par snake owner. I can't do that in good faith.

It's still kind of hard to believe that the snake could seemingly lose enough body mass to look like that within only 5 days of being shipped out perfectly healthy.

Mike do not lie to these people and make up stuff. YOU DID NOT COMPLAIN UNTIL YESTERDAY. All you asked me was why is he wrinkly, I told you he was going to shed. That's all I knew because you didn't want to take a picture. Don't come on here and try to get people on your side by lying to them about the details of our transaction. You need to do the right thing. The right thing for me is to not take a snake back after you have failed to care for him properly.

I've told everyone exactly how he was shipped. He had slight and I mean slight wrinkling on his tail and some on his neck, and he was eating. That's what I know. I would not ship a boa if I was concerned with his/her health. But I was not concerned. If you've never seen a wrinkly boa needing to shed...you haven't been around boas long enough.

Zach I took the pics on your request I told you on day 1 he was crazy wrinkly you are the one telling lies just do the rite thing and refund my money all these people know a snake dosent go from looking like the pics you sent me to looking like the ones I took in 4 days I filed a complaint with kingsnake, com the advised me to file with the internet fraud division of the FBI and asked me to send my complaint info back to them they are going to follow up on my complaint My credit card company has also filed a dispute against you send back my money via paypal and i will send you your snake back simple as that !!!!!!!

.

I don't know where this came from, I never said to feed while in shed. However I have never seen a boa lose this much body weight in 5 days. It's too bad that you take this attitude is really shows you are really not willing to work the buyer and yes you sent a snake in poor condition. Just face it.......

heres a few of Mr ashwoods emails so how could it be a suprise to him I was concerned with the snakes health ??

I told you man he's wrinkly because he's getting read to shed. Small boas can get very wrinkly looking before they shed. Older and larger boas don't but younger boas can look like that when they're going to shed. I'm glad he got there ok though.
As long as you mist him and the humidity stays around 50-60% he'll shed fine. If all of his shedding doesn't come off put him in a bath with luke warm water for 10-15 minutes and it should come right off. It's been a very long time though since I've had a boa not shed all the way. I mean it's probably been a year or so. I use a rack system and the humidity is always around 60% and higher when I mist. I know what you mean about looking so wrinkly but every boa is different. He's just being a punk and doesn't want to shed is all. Once he does he'll look like his normal self.

(Note he states I know what you mean about him looking so wrinkly so this was no suprise to him he wants to get over why else would he attack all of you for supporing me )

and as far as me never shipping a snake before so you dont want to take it back ?? I will use the same exact box and shipping materials you sent it to me in .. except I actualy washed the pillow case you sent me !!!

just throwing this out there, my boa does the same thing, and it took him much longer then ANY of my other snakes to shed. After he finally shed he went back to normal. I don't think it's as much of an issue as you made it, a lot of time snakes have a bad shed and when shipped it's prolonged, a shed after shipping usually helps!

The picture of the snake "now" shows a severely emaciated snake that most likely has not had a meal in weeks.
Has the snake defecated since you received it?
This is not a "typical" shedding problem due to low humidity IMO.
A trip to a GOOD vet is recommended

ok i'd love, to retract my previous statement, that snake is def. emaciated! i only saw the first page didn't realize how many posts their were! i'm sorry i didn't mean to be an idiot! so i'm sorry! just saying i was wrong thanks everyone:shootfoot

It's about time someone who obviously has a clue chimes in. I even sent you pictures of another boa that was wrinkly and that shed and was totally fine (the boa I showed him was not mine). The fact is you're scared he's going to die...I understand that...but there is nothing wrong. As long as he has water to drink I would not even suggest dehydration. I'm willing to work with buyers but not ones who want a refund after a week and curse and call me names in the process of trying to get a refund. Not willing to help those kind of people. I tried to be calm and rational. Mike you do what you have to do. But making threats over the internet is not going to help you. From all that I've gathered you think I sold you a sick snake. Which is 100% false. That's why I'm not refunding your money. And just to let you know...if I were to issue a refund it would be AFTER I had the snake back in my possesion. Knowing what kind of person you are I would not trust you to send the snake back if I had given you the money back first.

Well nevermind I guess the guy I thought had an idea doesn't. For the record guys before you post it would be a good idea to read the entire thread. If you had Casey you would have seen that the snake was fed 5 days before I shipped. Meaning he ate 12 days ago. Somehow he became emaciated in 12 days??? Doesn't work like that. Lots of newborn boas don't eat for several months after being born and somehow this one is emaciated after 12 days?? I'm sorry but no. It seems like everyone has read Mikes posts and seen pictures and come up with an opinion without reading the other parties side (my side). Please don't form an opinion without reading both sides of the story.

zach face it you sent me an unhealty snake it didnt get that way in 6 days that i had it just do the rite thing and refund my payment I will even eat the shipping both ways im just trying to be fair why dont you do the same ?????

I did read where you claimed he ate 5 days prior to being shipped. If so he would have deficated shortly after he was received.
Lots of newborn boas don't eat for several months after being born
What do you consider "several months"
I would say 90% of my colombian boas ate within a day or 2 of their first shed, so within 2 weeks of being born. If they (newborn) go 1 month without eating there is a problem.

Casey, I agree. But it's pretty apparent that Zach doesn't believe anyone here has nearly as much experience with boas as he does and couldn't possibly know what we're talking about.

I had a burmese once that would wrinkle up before a shed. But to be honest, that boa really looks bad. If the wrinkles were caused from shedding, they would be mostly on the top of the animal from what I've seen. Just seeing that boas belly streched out like that is ashame, that animal looks as if it hasn't eaten in a month or 2. Zach, you should just refund the guy's money. And if the boa is as "healthy" as you say, you should have no problem reselling it.

thanks for the replies good people if he ate so well and so often how come my albino I bought localy that was born june 4 09 is 3 times his size and if he did eat why is he so ematiated ?? Zach is just trying to get over on selling me a bumb snake !!!

I believe that if you are a seller and someone is unhappy with what you sold them, you should give them a refund. Point blank. That's what good customer service is, even if you don't agree with it. Remember, the customer is always right
