In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

So I normally wouldn't make a post unless it's bad but.... let me start off by saying I was a customer for years, and I did not have the best judgment by returning. With limited reptile stores in my area it's hard to find specific stuff.

Many years back, back when they still ran an online website called the frog depot I had bought a 3 pack of juvenile colorado river toads. All three had come very sick, and passed away within the matter of days. I eventually gave up and went elsewhere. I thought it was a fluke and atleast they had refunded me over it back then.

Eventually I came to find their revamped store called the reptile depot. I didn't see Pat so I thought it was under new ownership. Didn't look too much into it, as a polite fellow who worked there seemed to care about the animals. Eventually I bought a toad from there a different species, it went well, so I had added to my collection another species from there. The store had it's moment were sometimes everything smelled of death, I ignored it because I thought "well things happen and this guy did sell me toads that were in good health. I sometimes went to the store just to check things. Sometimes things looked clean, other times it looked horrible. The snakes they had and have are shoved into little shoe boxes with, basically the size of a large kritter keeper, the snakes looked fine and thought he possibly sells them fast. I saw he had turtles and moved past it. A lot of the times the turtle tanks were foul and I mean FOUL. He has them in this black tote that are sold for turtles, with a ramp that goes into a pile for substrate.

He's had some nice turtles in there, but he's also had some sick ones in there.
I had gotten 2 before that were ok.

Recently I saw that they had a razorback musk turtle. The tanks looked dirty. He mixed several species in there between central american wood turtles, razorback, I believe a sideneck, and in the other one he had baby sliders. His employee have mentioned before about turtles being sick but that the owner would let them recouperate before selling.

The musk turtle had these small white spots, I believed at the time that they were just about to shed. As soon as she starts to bask the same day I took her home, the spots became more apparent once dried under heat. Then I felt the shell, and felt some pitying in there. I had spoken to him about it under my friends fb account because I don't use social media much, and much less fb. He kept saying its not shell rot(it was shell rot) and kept swearing by it. I asked him if I could just return her or exchange her. He went up and down swearing that it wasn't sick. We wen't through explaining it several times. He said that unless I went to the vet and got proof he wouldn't allow me to return for refund. So I asked if he would pay back the vet bill and he said no. Him acting already sketchy I told him that I'd rather keep her at this point because it's clear he doesn't care. I didn't want to believe that someone out there would be horrible to their animals intentionally. I leave a review on their google page, they call me a liar and say I never bought from them. But they told me in messenger before that they saw me buying it that I was imspecting it. I have poor eyesight. I cannot see well. Their store is lit like a dungeon so it was hard to see. I took her to a vet and she's been getting better since.

My issue is how he handled things. I don't even want that refund anymore, because as it clicks that he doesn't care she might get sick again.

They went from the frog depot to being the reptile depot and their animals are always a hit or miss.

There's too many photos so I will just upload the ones showing attempts at lying.
P.s. they did not have that turtle for 2 years in the store because:
a) His employees have told me all adult turtles he gets are either special ordered or trades with friends or from his own collection at home.
b) I went to both of their stores and not once did I ever see that turtle in either of those stores.
c)The employee working that day specifically told me it had came in the other day from his own collection.
