In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi.
Just inquiring bout big apple pet supply. I would really like to start a breeding project with some adult red eyes. I understand these frogs are wild caught and would like to know about the health and quality i should expect. Otherwise if any one can suggest a better option it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
kristy:)

Hi, I never bought a frog from Big Apple Herps but I have bought many supplies and death's head roaches. The first shipment of roaches came without heat packs and were all froze. I emailed them and within a hour they wrote me back telling me they were very sorry and I had a new shipment going out tomorrow..I got the new ones with heat packs and and in perfect health. All supplies I bought were perfect! I would recommend them to anyone. They stand behind their stuff!!! Good People!!!

Hope this helps you in your deccision!

Thanks,
Michael and Sara Clark

I would strongly suggest you start your breeding efforts with captive bred red eyes. even though you will more than likely have to start with small frogs the results will be much better. the mortality rate with wc frogs is very very high.

I cant comment on big apple as I have no experience with them.

Best of luck whatever you deceide!:)

thanks ed. can you elaborate on the wc versus cb issues so i can educate myself a bit;) everything i own is cb in this house and i want to ry and be successful the very first time. farm-raised is wc correct as that is what it says on their page. silly blonde question, i know. kristy:)

The mortality rate on WC frogs can be extremely high, sometimes as much as 80% or more. there are many variables that will play into that mortality rate.

I suggest you dont consider wc frogs without a deep reptile and amphibian medicine background/knowledge or have a very good amphibian vet.

WC and farmed are different if in fact the farmed are exactly that.

Just some persomal opinion on this, there are many thousands of captive bred red eyes available right now that will do incredibly well for you if you can provide their basic requirments.

Why risk the loss of time and money on anything else?

ed...suggestions on breeders?
i do know some lol
just not tree frogs.
i have atleast 100 darts probably not including my offspring. and i know about the CF treatment, i carry a wholeline of meds: baytril, flagyl, calc gluc, ssd ointment, neoploydex(steroidal cream for wounds) ivomectin, panacur paste and powder, chloremphenicol (though this is risky for humans so i would choose this as second option for a chytrid frog which i have tested my whole collection negative so havent needed it) and dr.frye is my herp vet. along with one from the mn zoo. i have my own compound microscope(binocular) oil immersion and stains, and fcalyzers with fecasol to strain and concentrate any parasitic ova. . i am almost done with my biology bachelors and will move on more to herpetology or veterinary medicine if i have more patience. so i do have some background but not with anyhting other than biologivcal research on rana pipiens and bullfrogs and all my darts and firebelly toads. just a little background.
didnt mean to come off as a smart A$$ either. because i am soooo uneducated in tree frogs or other forgs of the like and thats why i am asking for help. and appreciate it so much. any places of recommendation? clueless as i see all these kingsnake ads and petsmart and petco are not the naswer always IMO.

Kristy, I hope I did not insult you, certainly was not trying to.

It seems you know your soup. :)

The majority of cb red eyes are flying out of Florida. I wont recommend anyone with frogs.

LMAO i know a little and you didnt insult me:) in fact how could you know right? too funny on not recommending florida frogs coming in. I have a feeling who i wouldnt recommend. i promise no insults. in fact it is hard to insult me. when you have such a large collection, you start to obtain more and more meds because theres more risk. and since i study biology i can run my own fecals wich is kinda nice but spendy still. someday maybe it will pay off. when i am old and gray and my tweety birds have hung to the floor:eek:;) thanks for helping ed. i am always open to learning new things. and i try not to come off as close-minded and open to many suggestions....try....that was the key word as women are very difficult as it is. :yesnod:

Haha, it wil certainly pay off having the satisfaction of knowing you can treat most problems that should arise in your collection without outside help.

Tweety birds are always a good thing. ;)

retf

lol.. not when they are hanging to the floor though. ha ha
knew i'd make ya laugh. :yesnod: thanks for the advice. and i will try to be more professional and not keep my mind in Z gutter all the time :D have a good one. i'll keep a look out for cb more than likely;. too ad mn sux on the shows. i have to drive all the way to midwestfrogfest in oct. grrr.
