In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bill Cagle sold me IBD!!!

OMG, Lastnight was my first time finding out about this BOI, and damn, I bought a snake from Bill Cagle, what should I do?

ehh

For some reason I cant edit my own post, but I bought a snake from Bill Cagle about 3 weeks ago, I guess it was. Wonder if I'm going to have a Problem?

This thread is VERY old, and all the animals involved in it are long since out of Bills care I would GUESS.

I wouldnt be worried about this issue, however feel free to contact Bill and Im sure he would explain the situation to you.

Hope this helps put your mind at ease a bit

Thanks Tanith for that post on LIVE testing

I have told many person's that there is a test that can be done on a LIVE BOA for IBD by way of a liver Biopsy and such but was always met with a strong rebuttal of " Im dreaming - Im crazy-I need to read more about the IBD and find a new vet " and many more things lol.Well unfortunately my vet is now 3 hrs away from me now but will still bethe ONLY vet i will ever spend my $$$ with on my animals .I made the mistake of goingto a vet where i moved to who said they had VAST reptile experience. well after treating my prized male anery 66% het for snow 2 days later he was dead in his cage from a overdose of Amikacin that the vet had injected into the base of the snakes head.... i was later that week removed from her office by there local police department for lets say showing my bleep ... a knowledgeable vet is a commodity worth more then gold IMHO again thanks for reconfirming what i knew atleast i know i wasnt all those things i have been called for telling people that lol

OK, guys I'm really new to all this, What are some signs of IBD?

Sorry for bring up the pasted but I'm still scared about this topic, because it hits home.

I bought a Snake from bill and It seems to be eat like a horse.
The thing is small and very skinny, but again it's a baby.

Ok

FIrst if it were me, and I were that concerned, I would speak with Bill directly, either by phone or email. As I dont want to step on any toes, or make any false statements.

Now to signs of IBD. A easy quick test will be to see if you boa is able to right itslef when turned on its back. So set it on its back in its cage, or on a warm floor, and see if it can quickly turn right side up.

Next a boa with IBD if I am not mistaken will "star gaze" . Im not sure the best way to describe this, but it almost looks like the boa is constantly beinc "charmed" into looking upwards for long periods of times.

Now if you boa is unable to right itself, or stargazes, that doesnt mean you have diagnosed it with IBD, but you would definetly want that animal checked out to see whats happening.

I want to close with Im not a vet or an experet on the topic, so this is just my limited understanding of the situation.

I supported Bill on this thread when it first came up. It was proven that the animal in question just came through his collection and was not one of HIS snakes.
Your snake is fine!

Ok first let me state that while it was proven by a certified DVM that the snake that Bill sold was diagnosed by means of a full Necropsy to be IBD positive. I will agree with what Mickey said that it was some time agoe this happend if you check the dates in this thread. While i to say its highly unlikly that you animal has IBD from a result of what transpired upon the meat of this thread going on.But i would also like to point out that IBD is a HIGHLY contaigous disease that can be transmitted via mites , & airborne pathigeons(sp) and some speculate by contact. Now without thumbing through 23 topics of the IBD fiasco on this I do remember that Cagle said "he kept the snakes in the quarintine building where he keeps all his new animals ." or somthing VERY close to that. Now with that said and no offense to you Brian as i have respect for you but to say
It was proven that the animal in question just came through his collection and was not one of HIS snakes.
is unfair to say that without anyof us knowing that the snake was kept totally isolated from any snake he had . He him self stated that it was in his one & i think only place of quarintine for new snakes ??? Bill had even refused to let others that had bought snakes from him know that he had a case of a snake that had " passed through his doors that had died of IBD shortly after being sold to me that was totally unetical... but thats just MHO.... None the less i think its safe to say your snake is probably in good health and not have IBD from being in Bill care

Hey Bill, do you remeber a toungless suri that was once in your care, o say around this time. I do, and so do some of the other IDOTS on this board.

Alan,
I hear what you are saying. All I was trying to convey was that it was proven that the snake in question was not one of HIS snakes, meaning ot one of his breeders or offspring of his breeders.
I clearly understand your point!

Point taken!

bill sold me a boa back in Jan.. It ate 27 meals, about twice a week, and died in May. Still less than 18 in. long!

Can you give a little more info? What was the cause of death? Can you post the results of the necropsy? (and emails/proof your deal with Bill?)

April means email or other proof of the initial deal/purchase of the snake from Cagle, not necessarily emails since May (since he won't reply).

DELETED- Violation of Full Name rule
This is in no way defending Bill, but who feeds a boa 2 times a week? :shrug01: If I sold somebody an animal and I didn't hear from them from 6 months, then get a call from them saying " I was feeding my boa 2 times a week, now it's dead" I can't imagine what my response would be.
