In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bill Corwin aka [email protected] ( BAD GUY)

Yep Brian, he can say whatever he wants to,,,

I am not trying to tug on any heart strings from anyone,,, I do care very much about all of my animals,,, If you had read some of my other posts like " has this happened to you" you would see i care about the animals,,, !
Mine or someone elses,,, After all why would i spend the time to keep these animals, if i did not care about them,,, I already have a career,,,, That is a full time Job.. this is not my career, and not how i make my money to live,, so what possible motives to i have..?

Joe,

Regardless if you had to go on a 300 mile trek for your job has nothing to do with why you did not take the animal to a Vet. immediately. As you stated
my fiancé takes care of the animals while I am gone
She could very well have taken the animal to the Vet for you and/ or you could have taken the animal to the Vet the next day. But waiting 8 days is and was your decision to do. Regardless if you wanted to return the animal and or get your money back if the animal needed medical attention it should have received it as soon after you received the animal and not 8 days later. Do not get me wrong, I am not trying to justify the shipping methods that were supposedly (I says supposedly because as of now there is no proof) employed by Mr. Corwin. If he truly did ship like that he needs to learn about shipping and that is most likely the cause of the URI but if you had let him know as soon as she arrived, and taken the animal to the Vet in the next day or so than he would have refunded your money or replaced the animal from what I gather by the e-mails.

Joe, sorry I may have come on a little strong there. I consider myself a seller advocate. I feel that the seller has rights as well as the buyer. And often on this (and I'm sure many other) forums the seller ends up getting trashed by a buyer that did everything wrong. In your case, it appears you did only one thing wrong. You waited to long to notify the seller.

You are in retail sales, so you know how this works. If someone buys a yacht, and the yacht comes with a 3 year guarantee, you're not going to fix it for free in the 5th year of onwership. Sure, you'll still try and make it right, but not for free. You bought a lizard with a 3 day gaurantee (we guess), you thought it was sick but waited until day 5 to send that email. Sorry man, these things are biological not mechanical they can "break" overnight, that's why sellers limit how long they give for a guarantee.

What did the vet give you for her? You should be seeing improvement by now. How hot is her basking spot? Let's fix the health problem and quit trying to send her back (an act that would probably do her in anyway). You'll find lots of help here if you need it.

Brian,,,
she is in a 4 ft x 2ft x 2ft quarantine glass front enclosure right now,,, the basking temp is 103-108 by the temp gun... she does have overhead 8.0 heat lamps and she is eating better,,, but still gasping ,,,, my vet did give me baytril to give her, but she is not really showing much sign of improvement except she is eating better( which sure make sme feel better) She is on sifted playsand, and she is eating crickets dusted with reptical and mealworms from a bowl...

Look everyone,,, I just want to see the dragon get better,,, She is a very pretty animal, and a very personable animal,,, I guess that is why it made me so mad guys,,,,, I hate to see an animal that loves to be fed out of your hand, and such a personality, in pain and having a hard time breathing,,,

If you have any info that i could use please feel free to email me or post it here,,,I will be more than greatful for any help...
Thanks all..

Joe, that's sounds good. Is the Baytril being given orally or IM? And what dosing/schedule is your vet recommending? I don't keep many lizards (mostly snakes) but I have found with the snakes 5mg/kg DAILY works best on snakes, I'm curious to see what your vet thinks. My vet and her literature recommends every other day and that never seemed to work well, so I got some other oppinions and decided to try a daily dose until I saw marked improvement in the condition at which time I drop it back to every 48 hours and continue for 3 doses past the total clearing of all symptoms.

The baytril I got is on a 24 hour schedule.... He also had a "new" treatment but he was unsure of it in reptiles,, but says it works wonder in warm blooded animals.... after a discusion He decided on the good old stand by baytril...
If she does not get markably better in a day or 2, i will get some of the "new stuff and try it" She is eating better so hopefully that is a good sign,,,

It seems as though there is some problems with sellers shipping boxes with heat packs and buyers recieving boxes without them. Apparently the heat pack fairies are working over time. Maybe documentation of the opening should become a standard. Video tape the whole thing from taking the tape off to each individual being examined. Have a copy of that days major newspaper right there in plain and legible sight. That would at least remove any doubt as to packing procedures.

As far as notification, whether the seller is out of town or not, You really MUST make some sort of notification as soon as a problem becomes evident. Had that been done here, a simple email in a timely fashion, I seriously doubt we'd be three pages into this problem. Worst case scenerios must also be actually spoken of or emailed about. IE, what if my animal comes in wheezing or drooling, with green runny feces or dead? For how long will you replace 100%? How long 50%? If I have to take it to the vet will you help cover costs? Once you ask these you know absolutely where you stand. Then if there's a question you can go write to the previous conversation and point it out to one and all.

Since there are no standard warrenties or guarentees in this industry, each case must be handled on it's own, one by one by one. Anyone who is offended by a buyer asking the aove questions has probably had problems in the past. Any buyer who has problems with what a seller tells him he is willing to do can go somewhere else and avoid any problems that may have ensued.

Trust is fine if you know the person personally. Otherwise it is safer to prepare for complications by asking about them ahead of time instead of ASSUMING that someone with a good reputation will take care of things later, when later to you may well be very different than it is to them, 3 days vs. 5 days in this case.

As far as warrenty and guarentee information I think it's better to have it and not need it that it is to need it and not have it.

I first want to THANK every one that emailed me to let me know that Joe Regan was trying to bash me and wanting me to respond to his false claims.

Let me say. when dealing with animals, all kinds of things can happen, i.e. sudden deaths, sickness, etc. I deal with animals and have been working with them in home and in Zoos for over 35 years and this is the first time I ever had a complaint. Like Joe Regan said, he bought from me because I had a great reputation on the fauna "board of inquiry". With my years of experience in husbandry, I have had no health problems with any of my animals I deal with except for an afew natural causes.

As for the dealing with Joe Regan. He bought a pair of bearded dragons from me and when they left here were totally healthy. I told him i was going out of town on saturday the 19th and I could either send them out Thurs for friday, or wait til the 28th when I return. I didnt care when he wanted them shipped because there wasnt a problem with either of them. I give a 72 hour quarantee which is more than a lot of sellers out there. All he had to do if he saw a problem with one of them was to email me within the 3 days of recieving them. He said he didnt write me because I was out of town but he received the pair on Friday the 18th and I didnt leave for my trip until the next day Sat. the 19th so we could have talked if he called. He didn't write me for the first time until six days later (knowing I was out of town, he could have done that sooner) Only Joe knows what happen to the pair of bearded dragons from the time of arrive til he emailed me 6 days later!
If something truely did happen to the female dragon I am sorry for Joe Regan but i assure you it didnt come from my end.

Joe,

I know you're ticked off, but here are a few things to consider that may sway your opinion about what has transpired here.

1. Bill offered to ship the animals to you at a time after his vacation (or whatever it was that he was leaving town to do). If this is the case, and you both said it was, then it only makes sense that he did not notice either of the animals to be in poor health. If he did, he would have wanted to ship them immediately, not wait a week so they could be shipped in an even worse condition.

2. Bill has a 72 hour window for addressing health issues on his animals. Maybe that's too long, maybe it's not long enough . . .the point is that this is HIS policy, and you purchased from him under those conditions. The fact that you did not know those were his conditions is really your fault, in part, because, as the buyer, it is your responsibility to know what windows of recourse you have.

3. You admittedly first contacted Bill after his 72 hr. guarantee was over. Yes, he was out of town and would not read that email until days later. However, you also could have emailed him before that deadline and had a leg to stand on now. As it is, you don't. You task was to provide notification in 72 hrs., not make certain the email was read within that period.

Joe, I sincerly hope that you get that dragon up and around very soon. Since her feeding has picked up, it sounds as though she is doing better. However, regardless of what happens next, I cannot see how Bill owes you any money at all on this. Maybe this can serve as a lesson learned for us all about making certain everyone knows the terms thoroughly before we agree to a sale, on which ever side of the transaction we might find ourselves.

Hey, Joe Tectracycline works great on lizards with upper reps. I have used it alot on sick animals and it works great some things they use on warmblooded animals does not work as well. Sorry to hear about your deal gone bad work on saving the lizard and have fun in this hobby some time you lose and some time you win. Take the bad and make it Good!!! Don,t let it put you off of keeping lizards. :) :)

Just a quick note...

Being out of town doesn't automatically mean there can be no communication with another individual, it simply means that communication is not always guaranteed...

Most mail systems have a way of logging in to check email from remote locations with any internet connection... Many people will at least check mail if not respond when vaccationing.

I have no idea if Bill might have done this or not, but the fact that he *might* not have gotten any emails until he got back still doesn't change the period of time the communication needed to be initiated in.

There is a bit of a question about seeing the vet too though... If Joe believed the animal was substandard from day one and had health issues and Joe believed he would be returning the animal for a refund, it's really not his place to see a vet without contacting the seller for approval first. In wanting to return it, he would be essentially refusing delivery (Although it's a lengthier refusal) and the animal would still belong to the seller... and without talking to the seller, he couldn't have been certain just what they would want done with the animal... They might have offered to pay the vet bills prior to the animal's return, they might have wanted it shipped back untreated, they might have offered something of a compromise where the vet costs are split...

None of that happened of course because his communication of the problem was delayed until it fell outside of the stated guarantee period, but Joe was still working under the impression that he would be returning the animal and as such, his hesitation on the vet is understandable, although personally if it were as bad as he's describing, I would have taken it anyway.

I apologize in advance for bringing this thread "back from the dead", but I wanted to take a minute to provide an update.

I am an unbiased chondro keeper that recently made a purchase through Bill Corwin (4.16.08). I happened to notice this thread and was admittedly worried about the claim and lengthy discussion!

Bill was sometimes slow to return email correspondence, but in the end still a top notch seller. The potentially gravid female aru chondro arrived ahead of schedule, packed perfectly, alert, perfect weight (no skin folds, kinks, etc) and immediately ready to feed. Tracking / airbill information was provided in advance for planning purposes on both ends. The pictures and description in the ad fully represented the animal.

Now that everything once published on the net is forever engraved, I felt a need to address and clarify the issue.

I would not hesitate to trade with Bill again.

All the best,

Joe Milmoe

Joe, I realize you don't frequent FC but instead of resurrecting an ancient "bad guy thread" about Bill your post would be better served with a new good guy thread;or if there is already one posting it there. Often all the posts will not be read in a long thread and some people may just search for the thread titles and not read anything at all. So many may not even know you had a good experience.

My name is Bill Corwin and I'm the one that Joe Regan is ranting and lying about from a deal way back in April of 2003.....He lied about everything to try and make me look bad.. Bottom line is, I sent him a beautiful healthy pair of bearded dragons, I asked him if he wanted them shipped before my week vacation or after(If I was a bad guy as Regan says and the dragon was sick I would wanted to ship right away before the animal got sicker) I was in no hurry to send them because they were fine. I never rushed him into sending me the money over night and he sent it regular mail so he lied about that. I send all my animals in insulated boxes and always with heat packs so he also lied about that....I called DHL and they said the receiver(Regan) wasn't even home so they put the box on the cold door step for who knows how long. (he didn't mention that) and everyone knows if you receive a sick animal, notify the sender immediately upon receiving it...NOW I only bring this whole thing BACK UP because one of my customers thought so highly of the quality of my animals shipping that he said he wanted to write it here thinking it would help me and I want to thank Joe Milmoe for giving positive feedback on me because I have done nothing but sell healthy quality reptiles to whom ever I sell them to and will stand by my all my animals...and by Joe Milmoe wanting to stand up for me I think was great but it brought this old thread back up to the front of this category from WAY BACK in 2003...dealers once in a while get someone like Regan who likes to cause trouble because they mishandled one of there new arrivals and want to blame it on the seller......I felt bad for the bearded dragon female but he did cause the sickness of that animal and I didn't feel I had to replace do to his neglect of proper care....After seeing that this brought back this old thread and realizing that no one would probably read the whole thing and just see the BAD GUY heading..My customer JOE MILMOE decided to open a new thread BILL CORWIN>>>NICE GUY.....thanks for your reading of this and understanding and its really ashame that someone can go on here and bash and lie about someone when its NOT TRUE....
