    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bill, we did want the truth. All you have posted is a pile of fecal material, used your friendship with Wendy to make it smell less foul, and double talked. Want to prove me wrong? All I want is the name of the prosecuting ADA and that of the defendant. But since they don't exist you'll post more accusations here instead of clearing it up.

Jim,You can go on thinking what you like,I never used Wendy and she knows that and all rest is just that Crap.It just seems everybody made their points and kept right on going on and on ...I admitted taking the snake and paid for it and returned the money Lee borrowed, In the real world that is Called Restitution on here its what ever you want to call it. So IMHO this show is over move on nothing more to see here other the the chest thumping on Y'alls part :)
 
Why not post the police report? It would prove at least some of your story. At least give Jim the information he needs to verify your contention that the animal was stolen by UPS. Why would you tell anyone that this happened if you were not willing to prove it?
You appear to be enjoying all of the attention you are getting because you could easily make it all stop.

Let's have a show of hands on this one: how many people have given an explanation of their innocence which involves a vet report, a police report, a receipt, a tracking number, etc. etc. etc.? How many of those have refused to post that proof? How many of THOSE have refused to post the proof because they claim that suddenly it doesn't matter what anyone thinks and it will be just torn apart?

Now, how many of those in the last category turned out to be vindicated of the original wrongdoing? I can think of none.

Again, Bill is practicing doublespeak.

So he admits he stole the animal, then goes right back to his story that he has proof that the ORIGINAL thief (because he still stole the animal, whether or not the FedEx driver stole it first) story is true, but no one here deserves to see it.

I wonder if he's seen fit to share the proof of FedEX-gate with Wendy, or Lucille, or some of the others that have had their faith in friendship shaken over this entire incident. Anybody want to give me odds on that happening?

You still don't get it, Bill. Your attitude of "he's got his money, so I'm vindicated" is so incredibly insufficient in its scope of comprehension it astounds me. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that someone who can give up his ethics for $200 doesn't see that. Your morals didn't just have a price, Bill, they were on the bargain basement table with a big blue light flashing above them.
 
When I was in college I did a lot of tutoring. One of my students came 50 miles to be tutored, but I began to get suspicious that he was having me help him on a take-home test. I was uncomfortable with that and told him I probably couldn't tutor him anymore. The next time I heard from him he admitted those were tests and if I would make the 50 mile journey to his university he would pay me $250 to take a test for him. I spoke with my department head about this event but he recommended against alerting the department head at the other school about this person, since relations between the two schools were quite frosty. So I just turned it down and that was the end of that.

I tell this story to my students frequently. For the most part they can't quite understand how I could turn away $250 "That's good money, dude!" they would say. I would frequently tell them how my honor has a much higher price tag than that. It doesn't change what my students would do if offered the same deal, however it's food for thought. I hope that the day comes when those same students remember and realize the true meaning behind my story, perhaps valuing their own honor as high as I value my own.

Lee might have his money back, but we all have questions. It appears that Bill gave an email to several people that explained his actions and (if I remember right) included some promise of future proof. Without that proof, the story just adds to the bad-guy-ness of someone.

I'm saddened by this thread. Saddened by the actions that were taken to get to this thread. :(

You seem to forget that although you admitted to telling the truth about stealing the snake, you then turned around and lied again to the people you send that e-mail to. Returning the money did nothing for you. I told you that at the beginning of this thread and I'm telling you again.

"In the real world" you pay restitution and other penalties probation/jail.
"In the real world" the penalties are usually higher if you take it to trial and you loose.
"In the real world" you also would be guilty of perjury.

The attention I'm getting is from Y'all not myself, Members keep bumping to the top, Not me as far as I'm concerned Its done, over beaten to death and buried but Y'all can keep digging it up to show yourselves how wonderful you can type "I TOOK THE SNAKE AND PAID FOR IT CAN YOU READ THIS OR DO YOU NEED IT IN BRAILLE ??"

I believe Bill made some changes to his profile a few days ago. One of them apparently was a different email address that must not have been correct. When he did that, it changed his status on the site to one where avatars are not permitted, and neither are reputations. I am assuming this is the cause, since I haven't experimentally tested it myself. I fixed Bill's email address, and I assume it brought back those optional functions for his profile.

As a FYI, nothing was done by myself nor the mods to remove those functions.

Bill, yes you made restitution. That is the truth. However, you still stole the snake and lied to cover it. Your problem was that you were either so stupid that you thought that you could sell it online without it being noticed, or so consumed by hubris that you thought that even if caught no one would believe that you, the wonderful Bill Leverton, would or even could do such a thing. My initial vote was stupid. Then I thought hubris. Now I think both. In fact I am quite certain of it.

There's an old saying that goes something like "best to keep quiet and be thought an idiot than to speak up and remove all doubt". You have removed all doubt Bill.
