To think that it would be a good idea to lock this thread is unrealistic. I can say with some certainty that if this thread were locked, every time a new thread was started about Bill, some of this information would spill into the new thread. If everytime a thread got crazy, and out of line, and locked, a new one would be started when "new evidence" or whatever was brought in. If each thread was allowed to run its course for even a week before locking it down for going off track, the first page of the BOI would be nothing but threads entitled "Bill Leverton/Liar".You can't start a new thread everytime someone is caught in a lie, or tells someone something in private that they feel should be public. It just doesn't make sense. Maybe it is a good idea to be able to start new threads so that stuff you have to say doesn't get lost in the mess, but keeping this one open allows for a "catch all" where information that isn't really new thread worthy can be dropped. A new thread couldn't be started every time Bill lied. Anyone want to count the number of threads that would be?
Also, it is not admins job to regulate what the user reads. The information is here. If you don't want to read 3000 posts, then you have to live with the decision you make to buy or not. I don't think anyone needs to read more than a few pages of this thread to make up their mind whether or not Bill is someone they want to do any business with, but to have all of the information here (no matter how many posts it ends up with) is nice.
If you don't want to read thousands of pages, don't. It really is simple. You can lead a horse to water , but you can't make him drink. We are being shown every angle of the water. If we don't want to take it in, that is not admins fault, nor should they be coaxed into shortening the thread.
To me it is worth it to read a thread before making a multi hundred, or thousand dollar purchase. Who's fault is it if I decide to buy after page one and something goes wrong?
If this thread were going back and forth about whether Bill was good or bad, I could see why someone would have to read the whole thing. Bill is bad. What he did is wrong, and nothing anyone can say, no matter how sweetly they say it, or how many personal comparisons they use in it can argue against that. My opinion is leave the thread open, that way when something comes up it can be added here. I would hate to see a lie not brought up because someone didn't want to start a new thread.
