So I'm sure I don't have to get into some of the crap programs that are now shown on the television channel Animal Planet but just encase you been living under a rock the golden age of classic shows that were focused animals, nature, & education have been replaced with shock factor, fake reality, & lies.
Most of you are old enough to remember the shows with Steve Irwin. The guy some people may have considered a little crazy for his involvement with animals that could be dangerous & possibly lead to his early unfortunate death. The thing most people don't remember though are the messages he taught us.
He was one of the first for me but Steve Irwin wasn't the only person to open our eyes to the world while promoting conservation through a show that was exciting but I use him to as an example to prove it can be done right. The things I gained & learned from his passion in a few seasons went beyond just animal knowledge. I believe his love of family & standing up for what he believed even after the credits was an inspiration to more then just myself.
The times of kids going out side to discover the beauty & treasures mother nature has to offer seems to be fading as useless post on social media networks & television channels that show trash continue to grow. I find the title of Animal planet channel to be misleading. Generic wildlife experts now replace the subject of animals with stupidity & deceit. I must have missed the time when when did the animals alone stopped being amazing enough.
After watching a show where the fisherman didn't have to fish, a show about midgets & parolees who own pitbulls, a show about a redneck catching critters in a unsafe manner for apple pie, a show about killing critters for fun & money, & a show about turning a car into a fish tank decided to check out a few other channels. I made my way to a premium channel called Starz which is usually only good for a cheap thrill late night & seen a different kind of show called "Bindi's Boot Camp".
I called my son over to watch it with me & found it's a show where a few small teams of kids compete in activities at a zoo while learning about animals. The host of the show turns out to be the daughter of the late Steve Irwin I mentioned above. Between watching the show & my sons face glued to the television I had a question. Why is this show on this channel rather then animal planet? I have a few other question in regards to the subject after but it seems I have a few to few things & questions to answer first as I get dragged to the door. I forgot how amazing it is when a simple show can inspire a youngsters imagination & will to do stuff.
