    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I saw that melhep uses a birdseed for the bedding (interesting idea) does it work better then the calcium sand, I know mine spread their birdseed everywhere but I was wondering if there was a problem when they use the bathroom or is it the same as the sand and cleans quickly. I just wanted to get a little info on it.

i love the bird seed. it's easy to clean up, it's really cheep and it doesn't smell. and if it gets wet or anthing it clumps for easy pick up. and they can eat it with no harm. the only thing is is that you have to make sure all your rocks and things are on the bottom of your cage.... other wise when it shifts then can get under it and crush themselves. not good.

I have always used bird seed for bedding. It works great. They can eat it (but mine rarely do). Freeze the seed for about 48 hours before putting it in the cage to kill any bugs or eggs that may be in it, then warm it up. You will love using it.

I keep a bowl of seed around at all times and Kiros does eat the seeds. Keeping them on birdseed is really common and simple to use, to reiterate Sarah, make sure the rocks and hides are set all the way to the bottom of the cage.

Yes bird seed is great, My big thing with sand is the dust, It drives me crazy when my beatiful uro's are all dusty and dull. They snack on the bird seed and dont get all dirty, personally I think its prettier in the cage to. Just make sure you dont get any with sunflower seed in it, they can be to big and your malis can choke or not be able to pass it... its also not that hard to clean.

I recently started using birdseed also. I love it! It looks nice, easy to clean, and cheap. My uro used to get alot of her sand in her food and I knew that wasnt good for her, so with the birdseed I dont have to worry about it. She can just eat it too. (she is really messy, lol) She loved digging in the sand so with the birdseed she can still dig too.
