In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

after all what love doesn't hert here and there

My son has a 4 foot Mexican black king that bites constantly, pretty much every time I take him out of the cage. Usually not but if he gets a grip he tends to grind it in. I've been bitten a lot, mostly colubrids but one bite from an 8' rtb. That was tough, I was reaching in a open top cage and he nailed me on my inner forearm and did not release. Had quite a time with that and am very careful with him now. Lessons learned...

i want to join, no wait i did, thrice!

well ive been bit by my 8-9ft boa on my hand but she was fairly new at the time and yada yada no biggie. it hurt but she let go on her own with no broken teeth.

but at local pet store i was just standing around ans someone pulled a 12 ft or so burmese out of a box and just as i looked down at my shoe laces...BAM!!! i got hit right on my head.

i froze up cuz i didnt want broken teeth (already had one exp. that went ok and my uncle had broken some teeth off in his hand) but the jerk that was holding him literally ripped it off my head, breaking the skin more than necesary and i instantly began pulling teeth out. the docter spent like an hour digging for more teeth and now ive got some scarring from my temple to past my hair line. nothing too bad but you can see those holes.

i think about how my boa hit and let go while the python hung there like a pit bull sometimes.

also got bit by a gopher snake while out herping. my buddy chad got footage and beleive my there was plenty of cursing. hes been talking about posting it for a while but after some editing (language)

ive had some of my new born boas hit me but i doubt it counts.

Ok, I was bit twice now. My escaped varanus melinus (yellow monitor) bit me good when I recaptured him. It was the neck twist that got the blood going.

ahh just as i would expect it too. heard about a tegu that took a finger that way.

All my incidents have been pretty minor. The worst bite I've had was from my Retic & it was completely my fault. He only has one eye and I reached down and touched him on the blind side without letting him know I was there first. So I startled him. Normally he's an awesome guy with no handling prob's and I've never been bitten from him since then.

The other incidents were from my boa's and baby Blood Python. One bite had me digging teeth out for 3 weeks lol a tooth a week.

I've been bitten by four or five types of kings, and 2 types of baby boas. Nothing too bad, only lost a tiny bit of blood.

I've been nailed by my 4' iguana, which didn't bleed for more than about an hour. It did however feel like I got my finger shut in a car door twice. I also took a little tiny nibble from my 2' iggy that has since passed on. Also got redecorated by a hairless rat that is no longer with me. -Joe

I actually got rid of that rat a couple of hours ago. Before I got rid of her I checked to see if she would get along with my friends large furry rat. Well she liked him, but he didn't like her. He beat the sh*t out of her and I tried to break it up. Needless to say I got done up yet again. Same finger too. And my finger really is redecorated probably for life. Large rats hurt like a son of a b*tch but I'm sure you guys know where I'm coming from. -Joe

as far as rodents go my worst was from a hamster that was "hella sweet and wouldnt bite you at all" the second i put my hand in the cage it decided to completely bury its teeth into my finger. i wanted to feed it to snake but it was his girlfreinds.

We breed boas. I have been hit a bunch of times by boa hatchlings, a couple by a gtp hatchling, JCP hatchling, and once by a ball.
Our largest female boa has almost nailed me twice due to a stupid feeding errors. I couldn't find the long tongs to give her a rat. She passed up the rat for a warm hand, both times she grazed my hand.

Been bit lots in my life.

Mostly by wild caught colubrids while growing up in cali.
I think every coachwhip I ever caught tagged me at least once.
My albino Boa thought I was food for almost her first year. She tried many times and got me six times in 6 years. 5 the first year. LOL And once cuz I smelled like dove, and did little more than rinse my hands afterwards. DUH. She got a good bite on the web of my hand......Interesting fact here, when they bite, and they taste food, they clamp HARDER. HA HA
My 10 ft male burm tagged me once in the calf, but let go very quickly. I think I stepped on his tail in the night. He had the run of the back part of the house back then. That hurt pretty good, but not serious.
My worst was by C. c. cerastes. I crashed my dirt bike on top of him/her, and got tagged in the palm of my right hand. let me say this. Hemotoxic venom HURTS BAD. HA HA At least this lil guys did.

Though I have been bitten many times, in my defense, most were as a youth. I have handled hundred of Venomous snakes in my 30 years of being a herp lover, and have yet to be envenomated due to improper handling.

Cool thread, It's interesting hearing everyones input on this.

Feed the poor thing. It's obviously starving. LOL
So what is it? Looks sorta kingish to me.
Great pics BTW. what are you using?

 Wow! I would have freaked that it was clamped on to me but you actually took the time to take a picture!!!??!! Im impressed! heehee..

I have been bit a few times over the years by snakes and what not but nothing to really get freaked over..

HOWEVER...one of my Leopard Geckos got out Friday night (how? who knows)
we went walking across the living room floor and one of my Basset Hounds went to investigate..
I had no idea this was going on because I was pounding away at the computer, when all of a sudden I hear this poor dog screaming and howling at the top of his lungs, I turn my head to see this tang gecko flying across the room and this poor dog bleeding profusely from his nose! I am not talking about a little blood here either! I mean there was a pool on the floor! I never imagined that a leo could do that kind of damage!
Well my Basset learned a lesson huh..:D
I am glad to report that Basset and Gecko are fine now...no more Friday night fights...
So can my Basset join the "Bite Club"?

I'm always getting nailed by something. Usually smaller stuff. When it happens I try to find where I left the camera so I can take a picture or two.

Sure why not. Sounds like it's bite was worse then many already inducted. :)
