In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey, it's always impressive that they give it a shot. Let's just hope HE doesn't get bit before developing a serious fondness for the creatures!
I've got 3 grown boys (men); one that won't deal with them unless he HAS to...gets huffy if I ask him to clean the bins because he thinks I'm going to torture him by making him take the snakes out of it first. Told him I LOVE my snakes, I wouldn't be that mean to them! The other 2 are more reptile friendly, but they don't have any.

IT'S JUST NOT MY WEEK

Can you believe my luck? I get home from work this morning & am feeding my beardie and I GET BIT BY HER! I was just feeding her like I always do (in the morning when I come home & before I go to work in the evening) & as I reach in to her tank, she jumped up and bit the crap out of my finger!
DID SOMEONE STICK A "BITE ME" SIGN ON MY BACK?!

Yeah, I think it's gonna hurt more because it's on the tip of my finger...think I'm gonna avoid anything with teeth for a few days!

Thanks, Tracie! Now I KNOW I'm gloving up for sure--got a lot of cleaning to do this weekend--and found out for sure that 3 other bp's are gravid, and possibly 2 more besides those! yay for me...

I think it would be a shorter to list what I haven't been bitten by...The majority of the bites i've sustained were from animals that were being anethetized, so I really don't hold MOST of them accountable...as a veterinary nurse i'm quite good with restraint, but as we all know, (poop) happens. So far nothing venomous has tagged me, as the only thing i've ever handled were a couple of gila monsters, which was AWESOME btw...and no arachnids. ::shudders:: Bird bites don't tickle that much, especially aggressive, unsocialized macaws that have never seen daylight and literally CHARGE and attack you. I love those. Countless amounts of cat bites and infections, a few of them requiring IV antibiotics & stitches...one that required me to receive a rabies series.

The worst "bite" that I ever sustained was from a can opener. I went to remove the can of food and it sliced me right open... I ended up needing emergency surgery to repair the nerve damage in my fingers. So that's the only thing I try & avoid. :)

I'm so sorry

Maia, if the can opener was your worst bite, I regret to inform you that we will be moving your response to the "mechanical malfunctions / attacked by machinery" forums...
I think I'd rather be bit by a reptile than by a can opener--owie!

Troi, I guess that means you're not married then?
lol

Nasty bite there, didn't know those beardies could be so vicious, but then again they are from Australia where the Rivers are full of Crocs, the Beaches have the Great Whites and the Bush has all the venomous beasties...

How's it doing?

Like I said, you're one funny guy! Where are those rocks...
I did not know a beardie would hang on when it bit--she almost went flying across the room when I yanked my hand out of the tank. But it was my fault; I shouldn't have been trying to feed her by hand...
Doesn't hurt like I thought it would; probably could've used a stitch or 2 on the right side of the bite. I'm keeping it band-aided for another day or so to keep stuff out of it.
It was a difficult week, but I'm over it. Not planning on being a regular poster on THIS forum. :NoNo:
You'll have to make fun of me somewhere else! :yesnod:

HA! And people in chat make fun of me for using a pair of welding gloves to pick up my wife's beardie. He's completely unsocialized, as she lost interest after a few weeks. I would be gone for months at a time for work, so he pretty much sat in his cage for most of his life. He's really aggressive so when i DO have to move him, i use the gloves.

I will say this though. Since the hibiscus have been blooming and I started offering them to him, he seems to like me more... granted only when I have a flower or leaf in my hand. hahaha

Here's a vid to show you!

That is part of the problem with the one I have; I've only had her about 3 months & apparently the kid I got her from didn't spend much time with her. She is probably 20 months old now. I know I don't spend as much time with her as she needs, so I'm thinking about getting rid of her to someone that does have the time. I should've known better than to try and hand feed her while I was tired!

Richard, I was not awake when I read your response earlier, so I didn't realize it was a video you posted...I have to say, mine is nowhere near that bad! I can pick her up without gloves and she'll be still for a little bit, but I sure can't put her down & expect her to sit still; I'd be chasing her all over the house.

Well, Robbie the bastard got me today... I mixed up a salad for him and the iggy, and was putting it in there. Now normally, lately, he'll eat hibiscus flowers right out of my hand. I guess something got him riled up, because I offered him a flower petal, and he was puffed up. I should have taken his advice and left him alone, but figured once he saw the flower he'd calm right down.

Well, he didn't. lol He jumped up and aimed for my thumb instead of the petal, latching on. I almost wish I'd gotten video of me yanking my thumb out of the tank with him still attached... lol

Anyway, here's the fun fun... *whimper*

yeah, just about pulled that section off... waiting for the pain to subside a bit and i'll hafta clip it the rest of the way off. :(

Oh yeah. He bit me one time, while I was wearing the welding gloves. Left a bruise on my finger where he'd caught me. So yeah, crushing bug exoskeletons I guess worked out his jaws pretty good. lol
