In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hi all,
I just aquired a 7 year old female black pine snake. Not only is she the most beautiful thing you have ever seen, but she is the sweetest also. She loves to be held. She had been used to teach kids about snakes, so has been out and about a lot.
I've raised ball pythons for years, but this is my first Pit.
The lady I got her from is older, and is retiring from snakes. She was good about telling me her set up, what she eats, etc. but forgot to ask everything. I would love to find a site that can really let me know the ins and outs of these snakes.
These are a few questions I still have.
1. Size of habitat - she is almost 6 feet long. Right now I have her in a 4 x 2 x 2 cage.
2. Feeding habits. Do they strike and constrict?
The rest I can pretty much figure out from all the websites I have visited.
I have noticed they are a LOT more active than a ball python.
I would appreciate any help.
I am totally in love with this snake.

Congratulations! Pits are much more active and alert than many species. A 4x2x2 is a great size for her. Being as active as these animals are, the bigger the better. Pits are usually aggressive feeders and typically strike and constrict if presented with prey items dangled from forceps. I have had no issues with feeding frozen/thawed rats of appropriate size over the years. I would recommend 2 small or medium rats rather than a single large one. Pits are prone to regurgitating overly large meals. They can also get an attitude for no apparent reason but typically calm down when outside their enclosure.

Enjoy your amazing new companion.
