In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Blood bank dragons inquiry

Dan,

Once again, you are the voice of reason. So you think it's a good thing to be selling a deformed snake for a premium price? OK. That proves to me what I only thought that I knew before.

Got me thinkin thats for sure.

Dan, did you totally miss this???? I am not passing judgement, just simply waiting to hear whats up by the seller.

Hey, Dan. remember this one?

Just to give Blood Bank Dragons the benefit of doubt - the contact name and phone in that ad do not match those for BBD. maybe they aren't involved with that snake.
we aren't condemning BBD (and they have been notified of this), but a good many of us have a problem with selling deformed animals...regardless of whether or not they come with a feeding chart. :hehe:

I think his feeding chart is pretty cool. Not exactly sure if it is 100% needed on his site but cool non the less.

This is going to be another good laugh.

People passing judgement without a clue or using common sense or hearing from the seller.

I needed a good laugh today. Thanks.

Passing judgement!

Not using common sense!

Do you preview your responses or just post them and let the crap fly?

No one is passing judgement against blood bank dragons. I, and probably others, are just wondering why their site is tied to the ad.
Personnally, I would not want to be associated with someone trying to make a buck off of an animal that should not be on the market in the first place.

As far as using common sense goes, how can you think selling this snake for an inflated price is sensible? Common sense would tell you to retire this animal to live its life as a pet for either free or at a greatly reduced price and ensure it is not put into a breeding program just in case this is a genetic defect like the one found in albino boas.

I have to admit, Steve, there was a time that i would have considered owning that snake. I was doing A LOT of educational stuff then, and there are any number of ways to have worked it in. I might even have paid some $ for it. certainly not the outrageous figure it is currently offered for, but that was me/then. the world is what it is, and so is the market. if somebody is looking for a "freak of nature" (kinda brings to mind all those trailers at the carnival ya can get into for just a buck), they might just shell out the cash. I certainly hope not, though. Seems to me that the snake should just be passed along to somebody willing/able to take care of it, as you said.

That would be the best use of this animal IMO. Give it to someone experienced who could work it into a program.

It could be used to educate people and be well taken care of.

Jim: I never said I thought it was OK to sell a deformed snake. Your misintrepretation of my words was just another example of your warped mistranslation methods to mislead and waste people's time, however entertaining you make it.

Mike: I never named you specifically for anything, and I think your statement was very fair and honest.

Harald: I too agree that perhaps its not the best thing to sell a deformed animal, however, I do not know any of the circumstances surrounding the sale.

Steve: Maybe I am wrong, but suggesting to not do business with a company based on an advertisement without a detailed inquiry is passing judgment. And common sense told me that they are new to the industry, and perhaps they are not aware this type of thing is frowned upon by other dealers. And the crap flies back into people faces especially when people cannot take back what they mistakenly said in earlier posts. Why don't you give them a courtesy telephone call and let them know of your concerns? And I never said that selling any snake for any price is sensible or not, you just said it, not me, and that statement is not a reflection of my thoughts on the matter. I think your suggestion to retire the animal is a wonderful proposal that perhaps should be recommended to the seller via a courtesy phone call. I mean, if your bold enough to comment about them not knowing the circumstances, perhaps you should be bolder to call them?

You are correct Dan.
BBD is NOT one I would shy away from.
The person who goes by Oregon Snakes is the one to keep an eye on. I was wondering why BBD was listed in the ad.

I think BBD should seriously reconsider who allows their name to be used which it appears is what they did.

The ad is no longer up (I wanted to reply to it) so maybe BBD realized that they don't want to be associated with the selling of an animal that is frowned upon for being in the market.

Steve: There were a few instances where I noticed an inflated price from a new seller and I emailed to informed that their price was high. Some people emailed back a "thank you" for the information, and some emailed back that their car was broke or their mother was ill. In either case, it did not matter to me, I just was trying to be helpful so they would not be frowned upon by perhaps their inexperience in the business. And yea, I have seen boas born with a complete skin covering over their eyes and they were given away. But I think who I gave them to ran down the block and sold them for double the price of a normal? lol.

I've done that too. I emailed someone to let them know what they had was not a proven morph and should be sold at a lower price.
He got very MAD for me sticking my nose into his business. I was polite. He got mad and then started posting ads with greatly inflated prices on all of his animals.
Other people emailed him as well and he got ticked at them as well.

Some people make honest mistakes, others just try to get as much $ as possible from unsuspecting buyers.

Maybe I'm too cynical.

He does at least deserve the right to be heard but I will still look at future ads with a bit of skepticism if there is no response here or if I get told where to go when I call him in the morning.

Maybe it makes sense to wait until someone from BBD joins Fauna and gets a chance to explain themselves before slaying them? Come on Jim...

I don't think Jim twisted your words at all Dan. He simply voiced his opinion in his own way. Saying he twisted them is a bit dramatic..........

Your right?

Mike:

What's your interest or motive in any of this to make a post?

I said "People passing judgement without a clue or using common sense or hearing from the seller." He read that, and intrepreted it as: "So you think it's a good thing to be selling a deformed snake for a premium price?"

Your right. He did not twist my words. How he came up with that interpetation can only be left to be determined by medical professionals.

If you figure it out, you can win the cookie.

David,
Oregon Snakes was listed as the seller in the main listing. The ad itself contained a link to BBD, and (when you clicked on "view ads") the other ads belonged to BBD.

My motive is I am/was/might be buying a dragon from BBD.

Perhaps he did??? I can't answer for him and I would hope either could you.

Honestly, do you really think his comment is of such nature only a DR. could figure it out?

BTW, I like peanut butter with the little fork marks in the top!!! :)

Not figured?

Mike:

Your interest to buy a dragon from them made you post that I was off on my assessment of Jim's statement/intrepretation?

Now that is perhaps more interesting than the initial thread here.

Well, the cookie is still here if you can figured it out.

And since you allude to have figured it out without an expert medical opinion, why not post your view here since you started it all? I have managed hospitals for almost 20 years and cannot figure it out.

I mean why start something without finishing it?

Cookies are not free you know. You gotta earn them.

Oh, and I will personally slap a layer of peanut butter on the cookie.

Fork marks included.

Ok Dan this is getting pointless and majorly off topic. I commented on your assesment of Jim because I personally thought you were not correct in your assesment. Thats my opinion, end of story.

You having managed a hospital for 20 years means what to this topic? Waiyt nevermind, don't answer. Even the answer would be off topic.

And as far as the cookie goes, forget it, I am eating a nutty buddy and there's enough peanut butter in that to keep me happy......

Have a good night Dan, Cya tomorrow

Mike:

OK, good night.

Sorry to have made you upset.

Heck, your right, the topic was perhaps dead from the beginning, so anything afterward is just clutter. Right?

Like your opinion of how I said something about hearing from the seller was interpreted to me liking to sell deformed snakes at high prices, and how you insist to still voice that it was a good assessment of the wording.

Hey, if you have a better assessment tomorrow, let me know, but don't loose any sleep over it.

Nutty buddie you have there? Well heck, I have not had one of those since I was a kid.
