In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was looking in to getting a baby blood, and I wanted some input. What do you think is the nicest looking blood as far as the most colorful. Also, is it possible to have a tame blood. Right now I have a albino boa and a very nice albino burmese both still young. The burmese I am looking to trade for a nice looking blood, even though the burm is the calmest snake I have, eventually size is going to be a problem.

That all depends on what you are looking for, and how much effort you are willing to expend to find it (not to mention how much you are willing to pay). VPI's albinos are simply incredible. You can find colorful specimens from any of the localities...but unfortunately, it can sometimes be difficult to tell what they will mature into when you are looking at babies/juvies. I have 2 Sumatrans that I held back last year that have changed considerably - one becoming very yellow.
As far as whether they can become tame - sure. I have a group of imported Bangkas that I can usually handle without problems (though I don't consider them tame). These were 2.5-3 ft when they came in, and nasty as all get out. The CH babies I bought last year (Sumatrans) all settled in fairly quickly, and I don't think twice about reaching into cages of the two I kept. Keep in mind, that I do not put a lot of time or effort into "taming" them...it just happened. Malasians have a reputation for being more aggressive, and staying that way...but I am considering picking up a couple of them as well

I got my blood about a year ago and hes my favorite snake, hes around 2 1/2 feet now eating a rat pup once a week. Hes very calm just loves to hang out on my lap whenever i take him out. They can be vocal but with my guy its just a bluff untill he knows its me coming to pick him up. Also they do get big but not as big as the burmese so an adequate sized tank for the blood as an adult is a consideration. I made a tank for mine that is 4'longx2'widex1.5'high. For the temperment it varies from snake to snake but your more likely to get a tame snake if you buy a captive bred snake from a reputable breeder than if you get a wild caught one. i love the colors of the red bloods but i think the borneo (exspecially the breits) are amazing http://www.monkeyfrog.com/ultrabreit_borneopythonpage.html.

Heres a picture of my guy about 3 months ago, sorry about the blurryness its from my camera phone.

Rat pups for 1+ year old 2 1/2 foot blood? Something is serious wrong. My hatchlings are taking rat pups.

From what I understand with the red blood pythons, most will color up and get redder as they get older.

I own a couple of short tail pythons (A "black blood" and a Sarawak, which is a different locality than a Borneo short tail). Both are very tame. They will hiss a bit at being touched, but it's more of a protest.

Both of my short tails are captive bred. I've had the Sarawak since he was two weeks old and he was a bit nippy as a baby, but he's calmed down beautifully.

My adult Sumantran Short tail (the black blood) is in a boaphile 421D.

Do you have any pics of your P.c.curtus in the boaphile? I can't decide between AP(animal plastics) & Boaphile enclosures for my Sumatrans (red blood & short tail). Does your Sumatran short tail have orange eyes (iris) Do the eyes "color up" over the years.

I got my Sumantran short tail as an adult, so I don't know if the eyes orange up more as they age.

I lightened up this picture a lot so you can see the inside better. The green pan is a kitty litter pan that's been turned into a water dish. The other container is a hide box.

This may also give you an idea of how much space she has. She's in shed right now, and I didn't want to disturb her for a length shot.

You might want to keep in mind that it may take up to 2 months to get your boaphile 421D's from the time you order them. I've never used AP caging, so I can't give you any ideas on that.

AP usually ships in about 2 weeks. The things to keep in mind about AP cages is that you have to assemble them (no big deal), and that they are much heavier than Boaphiles (and similar).

Thanks alot! She looks nice and plump! How do you get is humid in there? Spray it w/ a water bottle? Also how do you heat it? Flex-watt? Thanks again.

From the pic, she has a big water container (in a warm environment). Humidity can be somewhat adjusted by moving the water over(under), or away from the heat

Sorry. I missed this post a while back in a computer crash. The humidity is raised by the amount of water in the kitty litter pan, usually. It's heated with flex watt.

Yeah, I'm a little slow posting, but I took some pics a few months ago showing how evil and aggressive my bloods are...

I don't really handle them much and I didn't work to 'tame' them... the reds were nippy as babies, though.
