    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I do a lot of public education at events like fairs and pet expo's.
I like to set up cageless situations like this. These are a few of my pits which I think make impressive display animals. They are very calm and pretty much can be relied on to actually stay up there and behave themselves all day with minimal supervision. They dont move around much once they get settled and most people think they are fake. I think they dont move around much because they dont seem comfortable up in the air and after they get anchored to the branches they hang on for dear life.
I also display several adult American Ratsnakes-those that were formerly subspecies of Elaphe obsoleta, the same way but they are much more animated and comfortable in the air and have done some pretty surprising acrobatics like launching themselves onto nearby spectators and nearly inducing heart attacks, which isn't desirable. I was wondering if Blue Beautys would be good subjects to be exhibited this way, but just one at a time.

My blue beauties, as well as the other few species of asian ratsnakes I have kept, were all highly active. They're very adept climbers and are very comfortable off the ground. When they were outside the cage they rarely stopped moving.
That being the case, I probably wouldn't consider them very good candidates for that sort of display method.

They only way they might remain in one area would be on an isolated tree, one out of reach of anything else, and no branches close to the ground. They might be content to just move around the high branches without coming down. I have never put one in that situation though, so that's merely speculation.
They are in my experience though, more active, and interested in their surroundings than North American ratsnakes. The inquisitive nature, coupled with what I consider above average "intelligence" as far as snakes go, make them inclined to explore.

:iagree: Even the best behaved animals I have had still tend to randomly act like their last few feet are made of springs and the possibility they could launch and be gone before you are likely to notice it. That usually doesn't go over well in an expo environment. :(
