In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Boa Racks

price

My whole goal here is to build a rack system that is more reasonably priced. theAPunit cost $875 tubs for it are around $50 each with shipping which makes it $1125 unit, I also seen a freedom breeder, 5 units for over a $1000.
I cant afford this stuff and I know most people cant and thats why I want my rack to be sold in individual pieces if you want. Buy one rack system and later you get more snakes buy two more rack systems and stack them and plug in the heat. I'm hoping to keep the price around $130-$150 preunit, so for a 5 piece unit with tubes from target price would be $730-$830 but you could also buy only a 3 piece unit to save money and buy the others later.

A little perspective: At 130-150 per unit, you will be over the cost of an ARS7010, which comes to about $115-120 per unit shipped (including tubs & heat). The Vision rack for the CB70 style boxes only comes to $63 shipped (but you need to buy the tubs). RBI's CB70 rack is about $87 per unit shipped (including heat and tubs, and slightly less if you buy 3 racks)).
Granted, you are talking about a larger box, but one that may or may not be readily accessible (now and in the future)...one of the bonuses of the CB70s is that that box has been available, unchanged, for years, and is not likely to disappear.

Don't take any of that the wrong way, I was just pointing out that choosing an offsize box as your platform - though desirable to some - could negatively impact your sales potential. And you really should consider the per unit price on the competion before you decide your own. As I said, I would seriously consider this type of rack with the Sterilite 74 qt tubs (though not necessarily for boas, lol)

What is the ARS7010 rack?? What Vision rack are you looking at because I'm on the Vision web site and the CB-70 rack is 11 tubes high no tube and they are smaller (8.5' perimeter) and cost $600 per unit not $63. You cant buy the CB-70 in a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, bin rack system it only come is 11 bins for $600. The RBI's CB70 is a 4 rack system at $260 but sill I'm trying to make something bigger. I do see your point on using tubes that are going to be available for a long time. But I really don't want to use $50 tubes.

Jason, take a peek at the link I posted for ARS caging..that's where you can find the ARS7010.

And I would assume when Harald says, "per unit", he means per individual housing. For example, if there are 10 tubs to a rack, each tub would count as one "unit", so it would be a 10 unit rack.

ARS

Well looks like somone beat me to the punch. ARS racks are pretty much what I am looking at building.

Whos Harald

And does he sell the units by themself (one at a time)

Story of my life, Jason....LOL.

But there is always a chance to make a "better version" if you put your mind to it. ;)

tubes

I guess it down to the tubes now. The sterilites I am looking at are 74qt (not 72qt) and I'm contacting Target right now to find out availability. Remember though if some can get these at Target easily that cuts out alot of cost in shipping. I could sell them with tubes too. The other option would be to use the Iris tube which is bigger but also taller which I didn't what (less tubes per rack) and these cost more.

Responding to the above, in no particular order.
- I am Harald, and I don't sell racks at all.
- the per unit prices I referenced above were the costs of the various racks broken down to individual housing units, since you said you were making yours available one unit at a time. (An attractive option in some ways, and perhaps justifying a higher per unit cost...IF you also offered "full" racks at a discounted price.)
- yes, the racks I posted all use the smaller CB70 box...I said that in my post
- I understand that you are seeking to fill a new niche by offering a larger box size (and even more so with the growing rack option - though technically, both ARS and Freedom Breeder do offer that, as well)
- I think the 74 qt Sterilite is a great tub, and one that should appeal to people if the rack is well thought out...its main detractor is the possibility that it will change slightly (and newer versions will not work in the rack) or be discontinued entirely
- Currently, yes, Target offers this model, but many people will not be able to conveniently purchase them (whether because there is not a Target locally, or because that Target does not stock them). Online purchases are possible, but that adds significantly to the tub price in most cases...though some tub sizes are available in packaged sets of 3-4 which would make it a little better.
