In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

boaphile plastics is starting to piss me off....

A move and settling into a new location; that is perfectly understandable. Where was his communication and explanation?

:iagree:

And it doesn't have to be something that would take a huge amount of time. A note, the same note, to customers for the reason for delay, maybe even a discount at this point. Making cages seems to be time and labor intensive, and after all, one wants quality, but home relocation is not part of the process.

Some months ago, I bought a couple pairs of eyeglasses from EyeBuy Direct. It took them a few weeks until my glasses were ready and shipped, but at each stage I would get an email from them:
Checking the Rx, cutting and polishing the lenses, assembling the lenses onto the frames, and finally shipping (with a tracking number). They do that with everyone and I thought it was a neat idea, letting me know that they were going forward in the process.

Cages take longer than eyeglasses, but I could see that the same kind of ongoing communication would be helpful.

Personally, I won't go with anything else but Boaphile. The cages are light, stackable, and attractive. I also love the fact that they self extinguish.

That being said, Boaphile is not a company if you need a cage quickly. I own five 321Ds, and I have always gotten them 8 weeks after my order. If you need something quicker, I suggest someone who has pre-made or flat packed. I personally like the thought of something being made only after I have ordered it.

I will agree Jeff has some communication issues. My last three cages shipped without a shipping email, I was luckily home when they arrived. However, my two other orders from him came with a tracking email.

All in all, order if you have time, don't if you need it quicker. I personally will always be a customer.

If production is suspended because of a move, then taking in new orders should be suspended. I think it's really poor customer service to leave a customer hanging without updates. I don't even know why someone would even buy those cages. I had several of them, and I gave them away just so I didn't have to look at them. They are in my opinion, junk, but you get what you pay for.

just going to bring an opinion in... I've been out of the reptile biz for 5 years and haven't been on fauna for awhile.... this conversation was happening 5 years ago as well and is the reason i've never purchased any boaphile cages. If Jeff hasn't gotten it together after this many years of building caging and is still having these complaints time after time, expect to wait for your cages. If you're expecting anything but a long wait at this point you're nuts IMO.

To be fair, it's not just him, almost every cage maker is backed up for weeks if not months, especially for enclosures 48" and wider, and it's why all of my large enclosures have been purchased used locally (if you have cash and a truck you can score). It's at the point where I've considered making some for local sale since we have a machine shop in the garage.

I ordered a very expensive 5 tier townhouse in early Dec. Jeff was extremely helpful
and saved me money with great advise. He also said due to a heavy backlog of orders mine would be built in 5 weeks and then shipped. I'm excited its getting close.

Well John, there is usually a bit of truth to every joke. That is typically what makes it funny to those who get it. This one should not have needed any additional explanation, but at times some jokes are beyond the reach of one's intellectual capactiy. Have fun with the thread, it means everything to someone...or someone else's reputation? Fauna decides a lot about an individual's life. Except those who get "it."

I mean I guess, but I've ordered a lot of stuff from animal plastics and never waited more than a 3-4 weeks for my stuff to arrive. but this was years ago so I can't speak to anything recent. This is why I build all my caging/racks from here on :) I like to use my carpentry skills anyhow and melamine is CHEAP... Heck even home depot carries the same pvc sheets most of these cages are made out of these days.

For the AP T8 that they have in semi stock as a quick ship item, I am looking at a 2 week turnaround, I cannot comment on any other sizes.
However I am in full agreement on building your own
All materials purchased from Home Depot it cost me just $104 TOTAL (each) for everything to build my own 72x24x17 cages which I have now made 3 of, I just could not afford to but the 6 foot ones from anybody.

yup I just built two 4'x16x24 cages with acrylic windows and locks for $65 each. That's the way to do it and doing racks is even easier...

My 2 cents...

I've ordered from Boaphile many times... quickest I've ever received a product is about 6 weeks and the longest I've waited is about 11 weeks. I agree the wait time is insane, but it is what it is and not planning ahead isn't Jeff's fault.

On one occasion my shipment was going to be slightly delayed and Jeff sent out at email explaining what had happened. I was fine with the delay because I was kept in the loop. I understand that is a rarity though... people order and are left in the dark until two months later when boxes show up at their door.

On another occasion a cage showed up nearly destroyed, it was busted all to hell. Jeff sent a replacement no questions asked just 2 weeks later.

I think his customer service really is quite good when you talk to him on the phone... very friendly guy and ready to help you out and make things right if there is a problem. It's just the wait on his products and usual lack of updates that is a bit of an issue.

Animal Plastics

I have purchased a large number of racks for my Leopard Geckos from Animal Plastics and need to shout out that they are a great company with a awesome product. They tell you up front that it will be 8 - 12 weeks before they will ship your order. The most it has been has been 8 weeks. Great customer service and the racks are professionally built. I have order 6 racks and they all were without any defects.
