• Responding to email notices you receive.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

boaphile plastics is starting to piss me off....

Just a few questions... Did you use your MOTHER'S name in the e-mail/phone calls since the order was obvioulsy in her name... Do the two of you have the same last name?? Did you provide them with a copy of the e-mail that was "automatically" sent to your inbox from them? If you were calling and saying your name and that you had an order, they may have not been able to find it, and a buisness that size is sure to get people who are trying to scam them ("I placed an order 4 months ago.. I never got it... It should be free... etc, etc") and maybe the person who looked up your info thought you were another person doing just that. Not that I am saying you are a scammer... lets get that in the open, but if you were indeed calling with out your mother's name... it could have been a huge misunderstanding. By the way, our friends have a few cages and are more than satisfied with the product AND customer service, so I e-mailed them and told them about this thread. I figured it was the least someone could do since noone had for like 15 pages.

I ordered a rack last month from boaphile at the Chicago show. They have been great in answering all of my questions and have returned my emails within the day.

We use Boaphile racks and enclosures and couldn't be happier with them. Yes, they might take longer for them to get to us when we order more, but I believe them to be well worth the wait. We have Vision cages here, too, but they don't do as well as the Boaphiles.

Just my opinion ;)

poison ivy i did have my name in the e-mails but at the bottom i said that the order was under my moms name. And i seriously doubt they think i was trying to scam them because they returned one e-mail on the status of my order with no confusion.
And when i called i told them the name the order was under once again.

it does take a little while for them to construct the cages, but good things are worth the wait..

if they werent popular with people then they probably wouldnt have a problem trying to keep up with construction....

I haven't gone through the rest of the thread, but wanted to mention on the above quote.

The cages in his design take approximately 1 hour to build with proper equipment. Without any added equipment other then a hot air welder, and a saw can be constructed by a novice in under 2 hours, so no large amount of time is devoted per enclosure.

Also, you are dead on that if they weren't popular they wouldn't have the problem with keeping up. Over all good reputation is what is causing extremely slow delivery issues.

One does'nt keep a good reputation for very long, if they cannot supply their product.
Don't promise what can't be supplied. Especially when paid in full up front.

Just wondering. That could have been a problem. I have worked for a company and we weren't allowed to give the status of an order to anyone except the person who placed it... Not making up excuses, just wanted to point out a fact. :)

My $.02 worth on Boaphiles.
They fail to return emails, rarely answer the phone, and have lost sales from not only myself but many others because of it.
Until they get their act together with CS, they are going to continue to lose sales and tick off current customers.
Once they address the gaps in responding to emails and explain upfront that there may be a longer than usual lead time due to sales, they will continue to get negative threads started about them. It's a shame too since they have some very nice products but it's hard to place an order when no one will respond to you when you have a question about their product.

Sorry, pushed enter... Also, I'm thinking of ordering from boaphile and was wondering of the exact date you ordered yours (you never actually said the date, just "almost six weeks" and then one time "5 weeks before the show" was plenty of time and the show was that coming weekend") and the exact time it took/takes to get to you. If your 5 week mark is right, then it will have been about 7 weeks, right? I'm not trying to start something, I promise. I'm genuinely curious because after all these pages there never was a order date posted that I saw. I'm able to wait an extra week or 2 if I do order from there, but not like 4 or something. Thanks for your help! :)

5 weeks is nothing.
I had to wait 6 MONTHS for cages once and it took filing a complaint with the BBB, the FBI internet fraud department, and the states attorney general.

I have friends with boaphile cages and that's why I'm thinking of ordering one.Like I said, I'm ok with an extra week or 2 wait. Like you said Steve, they have really good cages.

I e-mailed them about this thread and they responded to me within a few hours, thanking me for giving them the heads up. (I think that was why he got the "apologetic phone call".) That was nice of them and I was impressed with the way they handled themselves here with the BOI, too. Just my $.02
;)

yeah, i'd really like a clarification on the 6 month thing, that's a little overboard.

btw, i love boaphiles, i use their cages along with a Nature's Spirit rack. Casey, Jeff, and Joel are all great guys in my experience, the Boaphile guys can be a little slow in correspondence, but i've never waited more than a day to hear back from any of them. and they've always been spot on in their delivery estimates. i can imagine some people may slip through the cracks for various reasons, but i believe that Boaphile products are worth any wait. that's my personal opinion. On a side note, Casey - If you're reading this, when are you going to produce a cage? i know there are a lot of us interested! i'd like to start a stack of those next to my boaphiles! i think they'd complement each other nicely. lol!

I had to wait 6 months for 3 36 inch slant front neos and the rack when Jeremy Bednarsh and his father launched Neodesha Cages again after Bush Herp shut down production. I was given SOOOO many shipping dates that never materialized and finally they stopped returning my calls and emails. They had a lot of my money and I had nothing. Finally after filing a complaint with the BBB, the FBI internet fraud department, and filing a complaint with the Florida States Attorney General, I got my cages. One cage was unuseable, one cage had no glass front, and the nuts and bolts for the rack were not included. I only got what I did when I pursued legal action against him. From what I hear now, he has since moved to California and owes a LOT of people money. Terrible experience buying cages online.
I like the Boaphile cages and racks but since the fiasco with Neodesha, I inquire about cages and want to CMA before any money gets sent out. The lack of responce from Boaphile is what caused me to look elsewhere for new racks and cages. I ended up buying a rack from Casey Hulse (excellent to deal with) and a few cages from Precision Caging (again, excellent to deal with).
I think with a bit more attention to CS, Boaphile could end up being bigger in the cage market than they are now.

There is probably a place in the market for all the manufacturers.
If they deliver the goods.
Just reading the posts here, there is a market, a rather large market for their product.
But they really do need to change the way they do business.
And in this respect...the consumers (us) are our own worst enemy.
I still feel paying in full is not an acceptable business practice.
But we are forced to play the game their way.
Way...because we need their product...and therefore we allow this business practice to continue.
Imagine if we all said..."NO! I will send you 20%...and the remainder when you are ready to ship.
And you better have a guaranteed shipping date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
No...we just open our wallets, then complain on the BOI.

well, you can also just read the BOI, and then decide whether you want to pay and wait, or go to someone else. thankfully we do live in a free market country, and there is a resource such as the BOI to help us in this. this issue is only about wait time, not about quality, so it's just a matter of how bad you want a certain product, which seems to me to be a fairly simple question, and maybe not deserving of a new 19 page thread every time someone forgets to get an eta for their order. this particular company has at least one other thread that the person could have added to, but a new thread was started again... and (at the risk of lengthening this thread and getting flamed...) doesn't that in itself violate the BOI's TOS? oh well.

in the end i believe it all comes down to (one of many) the old maxim:

to each his own.

best of luck to all in their caging choices.

sorry i took so long on the date ivy i thought that the thread had just about died i ordered the rack on October 11 i believe

I don't see the problem with a new thread...same problem but different time. Kind of communicates that some things just don't change. This thread was long, filled with a lot ranting and raving, but there were many good points made.

"Boidaddic14" if Boaphile shipped your rack on Friday, you should be getting it soon...I hope it was worth the wait.

Make sure to start a new thread once you get it! :eek2:
