In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

boaphile plastics is starting to piss me off....

:b :bleep: :throwup02 :toiletcla lowup: :detonate: :kill:

killing smileysis fun... im going to hell..... :D

An update: Joel sent us tracking information and our rack should be here tomorow according to fedex. all in all it took a little over 4 weeks for delivery.

While this thread id still up, I would like to ask a question of those of you who own Boaphile cages. I was considering buying a couple of his 4 foot boa cages, but I was told that the ones with built in belly heat can blow out(literally) because they don't ventilate the area the heat tape is in so it builds up heat and pressure and eventually blows out the back. This is NOT any shot at Boaphile, nor am I trying to start anything against them. I just heard this from another boa cage builder(I know it could very well be a bashing the competition thing) and I just wanted to check with those of you here I trust to be impartial for a real answer. Thanks!

I don't own any boaphiles but you were feed a load of bull. Heat tape does not need to be ventilated, period. It does need to be allowed to disipate the heat so not to cause a fire and plastic disipates heat very well. You do need to absolutely control it with atleast a dimmer and preferably a thermostat.

I have a stack of cages with heat tape installed inside with acrylic covering it. It has no ventilation and is controlled with a thermostat. It works very well and has not, "blown out."

Ventilating heat tape defeats the purpose of using it in the first place. By ventilating it, you lose the majority of the heat produced and require it to work harder to create the temp desired. Heat tape does not need to be ventilated, it needs to be controlled.

I figured. I had someone at the last HAvre De Grace show yell at my girlfriend for 20 minutes for building a rack with hit tape tacked down with aluminum tape and a reostat on each shelf. He screamed at her for 20 minutes about being all wrong and she was about to burn her house down, etc. I wasn't there so I don't know exactly what was said. She was also told by the guy selling the cages that she was asking questions about his racks about the "heat tape blow out" in the boaphile cages. I have also used heat tape for quite some time, with few problems. I just know you guys are alot more experienced than myself, why I asked. Thanks D!

I also have racks with heat tape held down by aluminum tape. It works well. The key is controlling the heat tape. As with any heating product, it can be hazardous if not controlled properly.

I have been waiting for my order from Jeff for SEVEN weeks.... I emailed him several times, and even warned him that if I didn't get a response yesterday, I would post on the BOI. So, here it is... I am very dissapointed with the service and how long it has been taking. I have been waiting A LONG TIME, which has put a lot of things in limbo. I was counting on my racks, and now I am about to give up. There is no reason for it to take this long at all.... My order was processed on September 17th. Its been too long. I deserve an explaination at least. I'm ready to get my money back.

Get your $$ back darling. I had the same thing happen and even had problems with the 421D's I received. Jeff's customer service is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,less than satisfactory at best. As always, this is in my opinion.

Try Animal Plastics...wait time is about the same, but their customer service is much better. Also, although it's not on the web, they have both heat cable or heat tape option available. The only down side is if you choose the heat tape option, you have to purchase the heat tape from a different company and assemble it yourself. Just giving you some options. Good luck.

Matt

We own 3 stacks of 421Ds, I can't say there were absolutely no problems, because that would be untrue. However everything came out just fine in the end. The 421Ds are beautiful, and functional pieces, that my animals couldn't do without. I must say every problem that came up, Jeff handled professionally. Can't beat the quality!!!!!!
And his Pastel albinos aren't half bad either, tried to get him to send 1 for my trouble, just didn't work.

Not a surprise that you are having trouble with Jeff's customer service. I ordered the breeding videos from him sometime ago, would you believe it took him 6 weeks to send them, I e-mailed him every week and even tried calling. I got to the point that I demanded my money or the videos. He still did not return calls or e-mails. the videos just showed up in the mail. He really need to get his act together.

I purchased cages from Precision Cages, they were on time and they answered every question and call I made. The only thing I could do without was the lighting, but hey, other than that they are working great.

It amazes me that there are so many folks on here that seem to have had problems with Jeff and Boaphile....I've always had wonderful luck with him. Yes, there's been pretty much a standard 5 week wait to get the cages, but I love his product, and if you plan ahead and don't wait until you have to have it to order it, the wait isn't that big of a deal, I find the quality worth the wait. I've even emailed him with just questions, and he's ALWAYS gotten back to me within a day or so with the answers I need. And I'm NOT a "big" customer, I think the most I've spent on one order is around $700...... *shrug*

I've got a new Rhino Raxx on order from him.....

If any business has a disclaimer stating what the maximum waiting period is going to be they should stick to it. “Allow approximately 4 weeks for delivery” (this is just a generic example) would not be acceptable for me. On the other hand the statement “Allow 4 weeks for delivery” is acceptable. At this point I don’t know if I would ever place an order with them based on most of the complaints I have read about. I’d rather wait for a show and walk away with my cage then. One things that concerns me with some businesses (and again I don’t know if this is representative of their business practices) is the promptness to reply and accept the money and the complete lack of communication once the item has been paid for. It seems as if they consider the time allotted to that particular person/deal has expired. It reminds me of the payphones when your time is up and you either insert another “coin” to or your conversation is interrupted.

I'd very much prefer to be able to just go to a show and walk away with what I want too....but again, with being in the middle of nowhere as I am, getting to ANY show large enough to do so requires either a whole day's drive, or waiting 6 months for the next one to roll around, lol.

I guess if I were in a hurry for an enclosure and needed it ASAP, I would perhaps look elsewhere than Boaphile, but so far, I've been lucky enough to predict my upcoming needs pretty acuurately, and can wait the time needed to allow them to build it. Maybe I'm just too patient. :)

We now build a total of 41 different size cages. Within these cages there are no fewer than 28 different options that can be chosen to be installed in your Boaphile Plastics cage set up to customize your cage exactly to your specifications. We also offer 25 different rack choices including our very own RhinoRaXX Reptile rack systems. Needless to say, there are quite literally thousands of possible combinations of cages or racks that can be ordered for your own special needs. Because of these many possibilities, Boaphile Plastics does not build cages and racks in advance of your paid order. This unfortunately is not possible due to the impossibility of predicting exactly what you will need in your very own specialized and custom set up. Orders can be shipped in 3-5 weeks after payment has been received and or cleared. We are building in "cycles" most of the time meaning the entire crew is working on building cages for several days or up to a week at a time and then we shift over to racks. This is the most efficient way to manufacture keeping our costs as low as possible and the therefore prices to you as low as we possibly can. Once started, your cage/rack will not take this long to build, but we must build and ship orders as much as possible in the order they are received. There are other mitigating factors such as material availability and efficiency of building similar cages are racks at the same time. Shipping to you will take an additional 1-5 days depending on how far you are from our shipping location. Please keep these things in mind as we work as hard and as fast as we can to build your special customized order as well as we can.

Here is what I meant in the previous post. Bear in mind the bolding is mine. It clearly states the orders “can” be shipped (but not necessarily “will” be) in that timeframe. If in the future I decided to order from them I know they won’t start to build them until they are ordered and paid for, and until they finish with that previous customer that’s still waiting. Thus I might be waiting more than I was originally willing to.

Regards.

I didn't have any problems with them. I emailed back and fourth a few times it did take a few days for them to write back each time but it was no big deal to me I was not in a hurry. When I decided on everything thing I called Jeff and he answered on the second ring I told him I knew what I wanted and was ready to order and he told me to do it on his website and said it would be four weeks. I paid online and in four weeks I had my Boaphile stack and I love them. When I need another one I will call him again. I also bought his Boa breeding video several years ago and I had no problems then either.

It seems that Jeff just picks and chooses who he want to have good customer service with, he just took way too long for videos and never returned my e-mails, he is now the last person I would consider buying from.

I WAS considering ordering a stack of 421's from boaphile, but this thread has made my final decision.
I am going to give Ed Lilley a try and maybe even Jungle Habitats.
It's really a shame that the customer service skills are so poor. I tried emailing boaphile plastics (several times) I never recieved a reply on a couple small questions. I also tried via telephone with never any call backs. Oh well.
I have seen the product first hand and the cages are nice, but i'd rather send my hard earned cash to someone who will answer a few simple questions.
I am sure they are very busy, but not to busy to take your money.
If its that busy around there perhaps a little hired help to answer the phone or a few emails?
