• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Boaphile Plastics.....

lol thats right no conspiracy here, i mean common now i much rather be here praising boaphile for a job well done but as it seems i got jerked around plain and simple!

I sent an e-mail asking about the availability of a snake on 7-31-04, still no response as of today. I waited a bit, but ended spending the money I'd set aside on other projects.

I've e-mailed with questions a couple of times, and am on the mailing list for the Boaphile site, and have the impression that Jeff is a good guy and definately means well, but there is no way I'm dropping a large amount of money on a transaction with a company who cannot respond to an inquiry.

My main concern with the lack of communication is in making shipping arrangements. I absolutely have to be there to recieve the animals, and coordinate that around a full schedule, so I'm hesitant to deal with poor communicators.

I'm not saying I wouldn't deal with Boaphile, but I am saying I won't until they address the issue. It's quite probable they're going through growth pangs and don't yet have the staff to deal with the volume of business they have. Staffing up takes time, though, so it's an understandable if unfortunate situation. I'll try again next year if I see anything on his list that I like.

too bad we couldnt send him this thread.......not like hed ever read it or anything....

Well, he seems to me to be a pretty smart guy, so I think he's probably aware of the situation in regards to communication. We'll just have to see what he does about it.

This will be my last post here (going back to work soon)

Many companies out there, like the competition, have armies of people working for them. Some have their materials, equiptment, and/or cages built for them. In these cases, your darn right you should get an immediate response and usually do!

I call some of these people and get the same dedicated woman on the phone everytime!
I email them and get the same qualified herp guy responding to my emails everytime. They are never busy building their own cages or cleaning and feeding their own collection.

Jeff doesn't have a group of people working for him. He does it all himself. All day, all night. Cleaning and feeding is own collection, cleaning and feeding the rats he raises, and building everyones cages, by hand. Ever see the times he posts on his own site? Usually about 4-5am, because he is either still up from the night before, or up early to start the next day.

My opinion is that this dedication and lack of a 'team' enables him to keep more profits and dedicate it to professional research and development of new materials, methods and more. He is always hard at work at something or another, not sitting back while emails and calls pour in.

I don't think Joel works there either. Joel may help with the sales line or email, but Joel has his own life and family and collection too!

I understand many of your points, I really do. If it weren't for the quality at Boaphile, I wouldn't have even sent a second email!

I just feel there is nothing else that even compares, and I would be weary to do anything to jeopardize him not being able to continuously supply me with the best product out there - bar none.

Hope all goes well for you all - with Boaphile or elsewhere.

Take care, Joe Rollo - BciJoe

PS - My 30+ cages and racks came in one at a time and I had to wait just like everyone else... they weren't a $10,000 order or something like that..
Another thing, I don't get a thing for saying these things..lol.. I don't work for them or anything like that, just stating my feelings from experience.

As Joe has pointed out, Jeff is a very busy man. Does this mean he is above answering emails, NO. However things do slip through the cracks, emails are missed, ect.

Ive done alot of business with Jeff in the past, currently, and in the future. In my opinion his cages are THE BEST hands down. Im getting ready to order a half dozen more racks myself.

In fact I need the racks two weeks ago, but I know I will have to wait around a month to get them. But thats fine by me, I will wait. I emailed Jeff about the racks, and you know what, he never responded. But hopefully later this week when I have the cash on hand, I will be able to contact him by phone and place my order. I would suggest to anyone looking to purchase from Jeff to call him rather then email. If your truely interested in his item(s) you may want to call a few times. Once you get ahold of him you will be happy you did.

Also once you make a purchase, especially with live animals, Jeff WILL contact you and inform your tracking info.

As for the no return call or email on the missing part, I too will bring this to Jeffs attention. Im sure it will be taken care of, but that doesnt help right this minute Im aware.

I cant blame anyone for not waiting it out with Jeff, but in my opinion its worth the wait. As to the lack of staff, thats a whole other can of worms (one that Im experienceing myself right now). Its hard to find qualified trustworthy help that you can afford. Adding cost generally does nothing but increase costs. I just spoke with Jeff the other day, and while we were talking I could hear him building something in the background. This was on a sunday before a holiday at 4 p.m. The guy NEVER stops. He made the comment that he has a ton of boas on hand, but you cant sell them if people dont know you have them. I get the feeling he is growing soo fast that hes just trying to keep his head above water. As such he may be not returning emails in order to not take new business he currently doesnt have the time to fullfill? Just a thought.

I was going to buy a snake from Jeff. So I emailed him. No response. I know he is busy so I kept trying. I pm'ed him on his forum as well.

He got back to me. My email had been dumped in the spam folder. He even gave me a screen shot to prove it. Unfortunately, I had to back out of the snake, and he was fine with it. I felt horrible, because I dont like doing that, but things happen.

DONT GIVE UP! Thats what I say :) Give him a chance. Think about it. Pretty much everyone loves his cages. Lots of ppl buy them. He is probably swamped every day by new orders. Pretty much everyone loves his snakes. Same thing. He's had tons of new babies born lately. Posts them on his forum. So with all the cages he has to make, all the snakes he is taking care of, he's busy.

I fully agree, he could be a little better about answering. I almost gave up and said forget it. I dont regret now that I didnt. Im glad I kept bugging him and got a response. Its worth it. I look forward to getting a male het from him next year.

I am currently doing a layaway on a rhino raxx rack. I have to saw that Joel is very good at what he does. I send ina money order and he will mail me to let me know that he has gotten it. Also my emails are answered within 24 hours of being sent by Joel. Now on the other hand I have sent emails about some snakes I was interested in and never got any type of response. So I went elsewhere and bought the snakes. I am sending the last payemnt for the rack tommorow and will let everyone know how it went and how long for shipping. Thanks and God Bless,
-Matt Graybeal

Mickey Hinkle was right, and brought up another good point just to show how busy he is..
I also spoke to him during the holiday weekend.. he was building more cages as usual, and mentioned how he thinks he will soon have time to POST LAST YEARS BABIES FOR SALE!
Last years!

Over a year behind on those puppies and i'm still waiting patiently to see them all!

Just got another 30 drawer baby rack in yesterday and it couldn't be better!

Had some miscommunications once or twice by email or voicemail, so I called ans spoke to him directly, as well as Joel. No more miscommunications!

Thanks and take care, Joe Rollo - BciJoe

good deal

I too had a good experience with boaphile plastics. The 15 RhinoRaxx rack that I bought took a long time to come, but boy, the quality was GREAT and well worth the wait.

Gregg

I just got off the phone with Jeff, and mentioned your situation to him.

Please contact him or Joel and I guarantee they will fix the problem. I wouldnt doubt if Jeff isnt calling you right now himself, but it wouldnt hurt to call them.

Well Jeff and Joel came through..... I got my thermostat just now..... I could not be more happy with the products...... That is one of the nicest looking thermostats I have seen..... It is a quality piece of equipment.....

I just want to say thank you to everyone that helped me through my fustration with this....

Mickey, Thanks for saying something
and thanks to boaphile for the awesome products..... Worth the wait in my mind......

Also, Joel left a message on my machine...... I will call him back tomorrow...... I also wanted to add that I will buy more racks from them in the near future and I would recommend them to everyone I know...... Thanks again.....

Glad to hear everything worked out ok. I'll be ordering more of their 421D's pretty soon and I may give their thermostat a try.
Has anyone ordered their 5' or 6' cages yet? If so, how did you like them?

The Plus and Minus Of Boaphile Plastics

I JUST ordered a Rhino rack from him. It came within the 2-3 weeks he says on his website and it was in emaculate condition and an amazing piece of work.

With that said:
I did find it somewhat difficult to get ahold of him, but WITH PATIENCE it is possible. He usually replied to either my calls or emails within a 4 day period, which isn't great, but it isn't like I was waiting for an organ transplant either.

I do agree, it isn't the best way to run a business, but for a side/weekend business (which it very well might be, I don't know) it's not bad.

I think they could GREATLY improve their customer base by just responding to their customers a bit faster, but they may have more important things (like family) to take care of.

How's that for constructive critisism?

Matt
