Hi guys new here and thought i would post my new cages and a review. in the empty looking cages are a hypo salmon female, a dh anery/snow kahl albino male, a dh coral sunglow female, and a common light phase columbian. all BCI's.
Boaphile review,
On Sept 9th I ordered my stack of Boaphiles, all 421d's with 1611 radiant heat panels and all with 1.5 flexwat heat tape, all cages also got lighting and the optional black hinges. I received my cages approx 6 weeks later due to some H1N1 flu issues and some baby boas that Jeff had been attending to. Also a last minute cage change was done. What I can say now is I am very happy with these cages and will and have already ordered my next one from Jeff. Jeff still provides great customer service and treats me well even after my "ranting" that I posted and then removed. Yes it was stupid of me and I still and always will say i'm sorry......Back to review. I have documented these tanks very closely as far as temperature and humidity and how they react to a 24 hour time frame and as to the room temperature changes. I have discussed this with Jeff also. So let here the numbers:
Room the cages are in had a average temperature change of over 11 degrees, The avg high was 79.5 and avg low was 68.7.
However the stack had a average temperature change of 4.4 degrees, average high was 86.1 and average low was 81.6. this is measure on the cool side of cage as warm side is constant 90 degrees as set on rancho. (also proven out by day to day temp readings)
Not bad for holding temp with a cool/colder room:
average humidity in the room was a whopping 31.5 (gotta love Colorado)
average humidity of cage was 66.1 with cat litter pan full of water only
A few other notes that I have found out is the lighting will give off some heat and this is part of the cage temp difference at night, snakes seem to digest food faster in these cages and seem to like the space to look around. After feeling the temp and humidity of these cage i now know i was not doing any good using my glass style cages. Again a big thumbs up to the Boaphile and his cages, I am so excited to see what happens with these snakes in the future and now their environment is the best I can possible provide for them.
Downside: For me the long wait time, for an impatient person like me, it got to me, It was all in good thoughts for the snakes and things just didn't go fast enough, the other is the lights, I had a bulb already go out and another one is dimming. The bulb itself is also not the easiest to find, took me 3 days and several stores to find a few. They are a 17 inch bulb and Lowes does carry them at select stores. Overall this is one of the best cages for the money. again Sorry and thanks to Jeff and I will be doing a lot more business with you.
