I watched both bits and chuckled. They were actually funny. I think Jack Hanna is a goof and probably does not know much about reptiles. Bob looks very secondary on both bits, and definately more of a handler helping hannah. Really ---we are talking about a bit on the late show and another bit on some morning show. Do you really think this is going to have a huge negative effect on the herp community---there are much larger powers at work to shut us down then the people who watch letterman and fox news. You want first hand experiences??--I have bought animals a couple of times from Bob and never had a problem. I have sent Bob animals quite a few times open account and he has always paid in a timely fashion---there you go---my only first hand experiences.

No, the few opportunities that present themselves to us in the reptile industry to portray our animals, our husbandry skills and ethics are necessary to keep our rights.

Fox and Friends is the largest cable morning news show, with the most viewers. Fox news and CNN are turned on in the offices of nearly every public official and shumk with legislative power in the country. Nearly a million viewers. Letterman's been around for what 30 years, probably because he's got some viewers. Are these influential people who knows, but why give any ammo to those that want to destroy us.

Take the opportunities that present themselves and lets highlight our great hobby not belittle it with stupid antics.

The message is out and that was the point. The People in our community that missed the shows had a right to know.

I did not contact Bob first, before I posted my comments and I am sure most of you did not either.

SPJ, I am sorry you can't understand the difference about reporting history and facts from TV fiction. I am not going to get into another debate with you.

This is not the Pam and Kerry thread but I can understand you wanting to get the thread so Hyjacked people will stop reading it. Personally, I don't care.

You are all part of the same reptile community I am, you decide what is exceptable.

You decide what is a community standard.

We is all have to live by the results of what is a community standard.

Laws will be passsed by what becomes a community standard.

SPJ, you didn't like the way reported information on the history of a snake, so you voiced your opinion and set your standards. We didn't agree but, that was the point at where we set our standards.

Attacking us won't make what happen change, but hopefully community opinion will set a standard and public opinion of most.

Bob Clark should be honored for his work in the past, but I don't respect what was don't on national TV live....

I am sure everyone enjoyed my replys to the last view statements but, I bet everone would rather read a statement from Bob Clark.

I must agree Ben, we all know how they play on the fears people have of snakes. And both shows were showing how they did not have any control over the animal. It might not hurt us, but is not going to help us at all. There was nothing in those videos except something for the fearful to feed on. IMO, it was not one of Bob's best moves, or actions, and was not very well thought out.

True, but in your case it is a matter of the pot calling the kettle black. It might even be worse in your case, Bob did it twice, you do it all the time when anyone visits your website. Do you really think it is helping our hobby to have them there?

I am more than sure Bob is having second thoughts about his actions, but are you? Just food for thought.

In my opinion I think it is a valid question to ask if you gave Bob the same courtesy that was demanded of Steve when he viewed the pictures of having a negative reflection on the hobby. The same position you take with Bob. Why shouldn't you be held to the same standards as Bob?

I think live show on TV that is not related to the reptile industry is different. The play drama and fear acting was really sad. Our website reported the facts and history on the temple viper. People that view our site probably are not randomly searching, they went to a reptile website looking for information on reptiles.

The people that view the FOX and letterman shows are daily viewers and the majority of them may not have nothing to do or even want to have anything ever to do with reptiles. This show sure wouldn't help change any minds and is not friendly towards snakes at all.
