In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bob Clark

geez!

1st of all, this thread began over 6 months ago!

2nd, haven't seen any recent inquiry about Bob (within last 3 months)...just a bunch of garbage being slung around and deflected.

3rd, how about letting somebody who lives 150 miles away, has met Bob, been a guest in his facility, can call any time for advice and who has never actually purchased an animal from him to date answer a few of the assertions put forth here.

1. Like so many reptile breeders, Bob's business, as far as peak season keeping him busy, is somewhat seasonal. He does have times that are definitely busier than others. Give the guy a break because he can't always answer every e-mail or phone message on your schedule, but has to work with his.

2. Bob is still on the cutting edge of a lot of morphs...some of which you'll never be aware of until he's ready to let you in on his little secret. Only his family and assistants will know the full story.

3. He still has some of the finest quality animals available and, yes, you're possibly going to pay for that quality. That's not to say he's never had difficulties, because he has...just like all the rest of us.

4. Bob's seen a lot of folks come and go in this hobby/business and doesn't "warm-up" to everybody immediately...but he isn't rude either. He can just smell scat a ways off and has the years of experience to know it when it approaches him.

5. Bob understands and accepts personal responsibility...he also knows where his begins and ends as well as that of anyone making a purchase. When a 25 year old comes up and wants to puchase a beautiful yellow head retic, it's not his place to ask a lot of questions...it's the buyer's place to know what they're purchasing and be ready to accept the responsibility for the pet they buy. I have personally seen Bob turn away buyers who obviously weren't ready, or in his opinion, qualified to purchase a given snake. This responsibility also applies to the buyer knowing the applicable laws for the town/state in which they reside in regards to the animals he sells.

6. Bob is one of the small number of breeders across the country, and possibly around the world, who are considered experts in the field of breeding the animals they choose to keep. He will tell you, if he feels like it, that he has had difficult times, just like everyone else, at getting successful breedings on occassion. BUT, he is darned reliable in that he'll likely have a great number of offspring each and every year.

7. With the wealth of information available today concerning basic care and such, Bob doesn't waste valuable time trying to tell each and every person that comes along exactly how to keep their animals. It's just not reasonable.... And I just don't mean for Bob, but for everyone who is trying to make a living doing what he and so many others do year in and year out...breed and sell reptiles for a living.

Bob does not run your average neighborhood pet store, but rather a breeding facility for reptiles, namely snakes. Some of these are more common while a fair number are either high-end morphs or on the cutting edge of genetics. This requires a bit of effort and brain work. If you want to know suggested temps for keeping your ball python, consult countless websites with caresheets and go from there. If you're looking at breeding a couple of albino Jampea dwarf retics (or try combining other genetics in something new) and don't want to mess anything up in the breeding cycle or incubation, give the man a call. Your efforts alone will be respected enough that he'll give advice and be available later if needed.

Really, this may be just my $0.02 worth of information, but I'd bet that there are others that frequent the BOI who would concur.

Perhaps I rushed into judgement based on a few inqueries, and I apologize if the vibe I got was missinformed or narrowminded on my part in any way. I am sure that at this time of year the work load ramps up quite a bit and Im sure their are many people who ask questions that could easily be answered by some simple research. ( I try not to do this)

So if Ive offended anyone who has had good experiences that was not my intentions. Since I havent done more than send a few e-mails to the Clark facility, perhaps the next time I will call and speak to someone, its more personal and would show a certain amount of seriousness on my part.

Im saying all this because after reading double D Reptiles post I started feeling a bit unreasonable, guess I never realy thought of things that way. At least Im not too proud to adjust my thinking when it merts adjustment.
