ethics? where did they go?
I agree that this guys ethics are really "outta whack" to misrepresent and sell animals to a minor. It really tells you alot about a persons' ethics when they bring animals that are obviously sick to a show where they know people who have knowledge about herps are present and they still try to pass the animals off just to make a buck. He was waiting for that one person who didnt know better to sell them to. How could you not be ashamed of yourself presenting sick animals at a show? Thats what kills me about ALOT of people who sell animals (not just herps), they loose interest in the well-being of animals and just care about money. Phil said he got these at the end of the day, obviously everyone passed them up because of the condition they were in!! And most of us have gone through that "savior mode" where we purchase animals just so we can help them. I've done that numerous times.
So, my advice to you Phil is: Be more selective with your purchases, learn how to recognize sick herps, and if a buyer gives you ANY indication that there are ANY problems, DONT BUY IT!! I know we all like to think "I can help it, I can do better than they were doing" but the truth is, do you want to expose these animals to your other herps? In some cases they are too far gone by the time illness is really evident.
Phil, I wish you well, you seem to have a good heart and you meant well. I hop ethis guy comes through and you get your snake back (hopefully in good health)
