Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bobby Pruett "Possible Law Suit"

SUMMARY

This matter between Bobby Pruett and I is resolved.I only showed the pics because I promised everyone out there that I would and I am a man of my word.Bobby is going to continue the treatment on this animal and keep me posted.I will give results of the official vet report because I also promised everyone I would do that, although the snake needs further testing when he gets a little better. Thanks again to everyone that had a part in this matter.

Like I said in a previous post, I saw that animal at Bobby pruetts house several weeks prior. I never noticed any problems with it. If it is shying away from the light Randy, try putting it in a dim cage.

That snake looks awful!

Agreed
That snake looks horrible.
All that 'skinny' is from breeding...yeah right
the eyes look like pearls
Mike you say that snake looked fine several weeks prior
I guess the health was questionable then hunh???
Well the health is questionable now, this kind of makes me wonder what the other animals look like at ol bobby's house

Thanks for your reply but this matter is over. The snake is blind an does not shy away from light.I no longer own the animal. The snow boa is in transit to Bobby Pruett's place where he will be continuing it's rehabilitation.I sent all vet info and meds with the snake and Bobby will be taking him to his vet to further his care. Thanks again for your concern.

In MHO the animal does not only look skinny but severely dehydrated. Although Randy and Bobby want to resolve this matter at once, the stress of another shipment under these conditions might be too much for that boa to endure.

It's understandable that Bobby wants to send the snake to his vet, but at this point I wonder if it wouldn't be wiser to at least hydrate him prior to attempt shipping.

Best regards.

Well I guess my post was to late as it has already been shipped.

Regards.

HORRIBLE !

That animal looks half dead. Horrible !
I can't believe Bobby actually did that. Unreal. Even though he has rectified and gave you your animals back, I am amazed by the fact that it took so much for you to get out of this HORRIBLE deal. This trade was the epitomy of deception. Not only he knew what he was doing, but he tried to make you look bad in front of everybody, and he was not willing to listen to you. Only after he saw himself in a really bad situation and threatened by the fact that you had the snake evaluated by a vet (therefore, you had enough evidence to go ahead with a lawsuit), he then decided to rectify his mess.

Man, even though this deal actually ended up in a good way, to me Bobby is the kind of breeder you want to avoid at all costs. In my opinion, it doesn't get much worse and dishonest than that.

This snake looks terrible and not much like the snake on the website, anyone know how long between those pictures? Even the eyes are far different.

I would not classify the shape this guy is in to be just from breeding and I question how far he has gone downhill since shipped the first time?

I think Ritchie may have hit it and this snake is suffering from something far more serious... The snake on the website is thin, but healthy looking, this picture looks like one that is close to terminal..... When did it get so bad?

Could it be that the snake picture on the web site is not the picture of the same snake shipped?
Pictures can speak a thousand words, enhanced or misrepresented pictures, can con innocent buyers.
(Thought I would put my two cents in, ooops, I spent them already!)

Like I said before, I saw the snake several weeks before it was shipped. It looked like the snake on the website. I agree the pics Randy posted shows the snake severely dehydrated. I agree with Alvaro, it should have been Hydrated by a qualified Vet or an experienced breeder using injections prior to shipping back. Good luck Bobby, I hope you can bring him back. I have purchased several high end Boas from Boby Pruett and will post pics. I wish both bobby and randy the best.

Utterly disgusting!!! My God, that Snow Boa is emaciated! :(

I have seen quite a few people on here slammed for selling sick/bad animals. The thing is, alot of those 'sick/bad' animals were in better shape than that Snow Boa. The condition of that snake is deplorable.

Reimbursment of vet bills

Just out of pure curiousty, will you be reimbursted on the Vet bills you had on this animal now that it has been shipped back to Bobby? Or do you have to eat that cost? And speaking on out of pocket expenses, did you also have to pay for shipping the animal back also? I am only trying to see the whole picture on a deal gone bad. Will the seller have to take the full burden on a bad deal, or does the buyer take some responaibly? It is always a gamble to purchase animals site un-seen.

ALSO- I am wondering why there were pics of Mad tree boas posted on this tread???

I don't think the tree boas looked mad... Ok, bad joke.

I think they were posted in an attempt to show that Mike C has had positive dealings with Bobby Pruett. Might sort of be appropriate to the thread, though not directly.

Not entirely sure what to think of this thread. The snake's eyes were apparently not quite right, and they didn't look normal in the pics on the site. Bobby did make good based on that (not sure about details of shipping and vet costs, but Randy seems satisfied with the solution), but it seemed to take some effort. I'm still wondering why Randy took so long to remark on the apparent neurological symptoms. If the snake looked "iffy" at all when recieved, especially one that high value, I'd think the seller should be told immediately that there might be health issues that could break the deal, pending a vet check. Waiting two weeks, for whatever reason, doesn't seem to be a good idea.

I hope the snake gets back OK, and that Bobby can get it back to health.

The reason Mike posted pics of the mad tree boas was to show the quality of my animals. John Reese just has a personal problem with me. John Apple, my address is on my website stop by anytime and ill gladly let you take a look at all my animals here. The snake did not drink for the entire time Randy had him. The resp and other problems from shipping as Ritchie pointed out for everyone is the only reason the snow looks like it does. The pics on my website were taken 2 weeks before I traded it to Randy. Randy and I came to terms on this deal. I will be taking the snow to my vet tomorrow and I will keep the people here that has asked posted on the snow.

hey Art

It took so much for him to get his trade reversed???? A Vet exam is not much and should have been done the day he recieved the snake if he's saying it looked that bad. I think those pics were a low blow. The trade was already reversed. I highly doubt that snake looked that way when shipped to him. Waiting 18 days and how many matings later, to get it to a Vet is not fair to the animal or the breeder your shipping it back to. I posted those pics of the sanzinia, because I purchased those from Bobby Pruett and thought it fair to him to show them. Web master chose to delete. Anyway Randy and Bobby have worked it out and I wish them both the best.

You're not going to cut me any slack, are ya? I agree,I should have taken the snow to the vet immediately.I have learned a lot in this matter,we only improve by doing.Me and Bobby talked on the phone yesterday for over an hour on this matter and he is really a nice person.Like he said," I get a little snappy when I'm pushed"...I got a little of that in me too!!!!! The pics of him on Bobby's site looks good that s the reason I got him.But he needs some rehab to get him back there. It doesn't matter one way or another but I can arrure you Mike that the snow was in his OWN cage the entire time I have had him.In 105 days if I start advertising DH for SNOW boas then we can talk.I bred one snake this year and it was normal to normal.I am 80% sure she is gravid, and they courted for 4 months. It would be nice if you could borrow a snake for 2 weeks and make babies but I don't know of that happening.Believe me Mike,I had NO hidden agenda,ever...There are no hard feelings between Bobby and I and the hatchett has been buried.I commend Bobby Pruett for seeing this matter through to the end. Thanks Mike and everyone..

Posting the pics is in no way a low blow. It proves Randy wasn't making this up. And Mike come on! No way a Boa gets that skinny in 18 days! You're starting to look foolish in your attempts to vindicate Bobby at this point. Bobby did the right thing and agreed to trade back, leave it at that.

I can understand the concern about the time that Randy had the snake, but come on, you have to allow for some human nature here. He had just recieved a SNOW BOA! The last thing he wants to do is send it back. He was even warned that it was skinny so he's prepared himself to see a skinny snake. It probably took a few days for the reality of the situation to set in. And he did voice his concerns about the weight/condition of the snake, and it's unwillingness to feed easily.

Now, here's the part that kills me... How can anyone bring themselves to do a $10,000 trade w/o even having actually seen and held the animals in question??? It's 10k folks. Isn't that enough to spend another $300 on a plane ticket? Or maybe a few days driving? I get nervous spending $30 bucks on an animal I haven't seen. 10k and I'm gonna spend a few hours checking it out before I buy it. Heck, I'd probably bring my vet w/ me!

One more thing, someone stated earlier than albinism is a "defect." Albinism is simply the lack of pigment. Albinism does not effect the health of an organism which has the condition. If someone has evidence to the contary I'd love to read it. But I've never seen anything which says albinism is detremental to the health of an organism.

When it comes to Boas and albinism is seems there is some evidence that the albino gene and another gene, one that causes problems with the actual structure of the eye, may be linked. Linked genes are genes that are located on the same chromosome. We've all seen the albino boas w/ only one eye. And that trait does seem to show up more in the albinos, but it's not because they are albino that they only have one eye. If that were the case, then all albinos would only have one eye.

I have dozens of albinos individuals, none of which show ANY sensitivity to light.

Good job working this one out guys!

Brian

Randy,

I am not trying to run you down, I was defending myself when called a liar about seeing that snake several weeks before it was shipped. I'll be the first to admit, I'm no expert. I also have alot to learn. The snake honestly looked like the pics on the website. What happened between when i saw it and now is between You and Bobby. Brian I disagree with you and my Vet probably would to. It may have already had a low grade infection that really took ahold with the stress of shipping. I really don't know. But I know an animal can dehydrate very quickly and I doubt this one will make it. Also I'm not defending Bobby, i'm defending my previous post about seeing this snake personally. It was not in the condition that the pics Randy posted shows it in. Another breeder posted that he had also seen the snake ( TIM ). I guess we are both liars.

Mike Conley

I do not believe that reptiles are affected by albinism the same way that mammals are, but Brian Conley asked for information regarding albinism being harmful to the health of organisms. Here it is. The link provided is specifically about white dobermans, but I think it would be applicable to all mammals.

Check this out.

Not that I really have any place in this thread, but I disagree about taking an animal to a vet immediately after you get it. This animal is already stressed from shipping and now a new enclosure, the best thing to do is to get it feeling comfortable and acclimating to its new environment. I think we all can agree that stress is the #1 killer of reptiles--it can cause minor problems to kick in to a higher level, etc etc. Bringing the animal to a vet the next day is a whole other stressful ordeal that may cause more problems than offer solutions. Besides, by that point, you have not had enough time to monitor it to give the vet enough info to go on.
Just my 2 cents on that small matter.
Dana
