I was recently contacted by a lady who was up until recently was Bobby Varnyards neighbor. She told me that Bobby had left the place he kept his Tegu collection. She then told me that as of last count there are 27 Tegus that he left behind with some dead from malnutrition. I could only figure that they were in hibernation until recently. She also observed Tegus eating the remains of other Tegus. She is concerned for the future well being of the animals left. She said that she was able to contact Bobby and stated that he does not plan to return to the area. Animal control is going to collect a portion of them at the beginning of the week and then destroy after 5 days if a licensed animal rehabber does not turn up in the area. Then take care of the rest soon after. I will not post her phone number but if someone in the area knows of someone who can help let me know and I'll forward the information to her. I breed snakes and do not have the facilities to assist.
