Hi All!!

I was wondering what everyone uses for bowls for their hatchlings, whether you buy them from somewhre (If so post where) or, do you use makeshift bows, ex. caps- covers.

I am running out of things to use for bowls for my hatchlings and could use a few good ideas. I have een using the covers from my calcium and vitamin, but I ran out. Any ideas are welcome.

Thanks!

I use lids. I also use glass ashtrays (new & unused!!!) when I need to.
Also did you get the $$ for the crested? Can't wait to get her! :)

I use the lids from peanut butter, mayo for mealies (I make my whole family to keep them for me lol)and very small petri dishes for calcium.

I have also used medium petri dishes for mealies too, you can get them pretty cheap off ebay. The small ones I got 20 for $9 shipped but that is actually 40 because you use the lid and the base.

Excellent Idea.....Thats is just great...petri dishes...taht is just sooo perfect.i love that idea...Gonna have to get me some of those.

I just bought some petri dishes on Ebay. $11.50 for 20 I think. Thank you for the GREAT idea! You Rock!

They are cheap and easy to run threw the dishwasher lol The little ones I get are really tiny 9mm x 50mm but they are so perfect for calcium dishes they are rougly 3/8 x 2" if my conversion isn't off lol, I forget how big the medium ones are since I threw out the box they were in but I think they were 15X95 which is about 5/8 x 3.75 again if my conversion os right lol and great for mealies!

I use petri dishes, peanut butter lids, reg bowls you can buy at a petstore, condiment cups and any other lids I can get my hands on..lol.

I go to the craft store and buy the little stackable bead containers.

$0.44 a peice at walmart: Mini plant dishes. I think it's actually supposed to be like the plate that holds an upright planter, but it works great. Doesn't hold mealworms (not tall enough), but holds calcium and water nicely. They're about 2.5 inches in diameter and about 1/4-1/2 inch tall.

Here's a picture of a baby crested on one of them (this one has babyfood)... and on the second photo you can see them on the ground (in a 5.5 gal aquarium)

I use Petri dishes a lot as well film container lids for calcium. Just make sure to wash the film lids really good.

Cody, I know you sell petri dishes, would you sell me some film lids too?

As Scott already stated, I use the 1 1/4 inch orange lids from Gatorade. They work great for keeping calcium or vitamin powder. I most recently started using Propel lids also. They are easily replaceable (and the recycling helps) and it makes keeping track of the amounts put into each geckos container easier...just fill it up!

I use Play-doh lids. A local store sells these kid b-day packs of them, mini sizes, 10 for $3. I sterilize the lids and bowls. I use the lids in the hatchling bins, and the bowls in the juvi bins. They work awesome... and my friends get a kick out of the array of colors when they approach the racks.

That was my creative approach to the problem. I've been using them for 2 mo now.

Sorry I didn't see this thread earlier, but you can get 24 for $8.00 from Cody at ProGeckos. :)

I went to Walmart yesterday and bought a whole bunch of those plant bottoms. They are the perfect size for hatchlings, and the mealwormscan't escape, which is a battle I have been fighting for a while...LOL
