• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

So yeah, got a new toy to play with. Got to keep my mind and body occupied with something. Actually this all started when I had a problem with the septic tank in the old reptile building. Flushing started acting funny, so I had a plumber come out to look at it. Prognosis was that the outflow of the septic tank, meaning the drain field, was clogged with roots. Well for what it would cost to have someone rebuild the drainfield, that got me to thinking I could likely do it myself with the help of my friend Rickey, as he has done this before. Sounded like a good excuse to buy a mini excavator. And afterwards, I would still have the excavator to play with. But Murphy's Law stepped in. Rickey died back in August. I got a mini excavator, but in reality it was TOO mini. Would shake me to death just driving it from one spot to another, and I never could get over the feeling that one wrong move and that sucker would tip over. And there was the issue of me taking video of my inspection of the mini-excavator and pointing out things I wasn't really crazy about and the dealer taking exception to me airing that sort of dirty laundry. So when he offered to buy it back, well sure, come and get it. That gave me the opportunity to look for a slightly bigger machine. So I found this 3 ton unit. Actually is around 5600 lbs, but still a much sturdier and confidence building machine. Besides my tractor seemed to be getting lonely sitting under the car port all alone and needed a buddy.

Saturday I opened up the crates that came with the excavator so I could put away the attachments that I got with it. Many were rather heavy, and I didn't want my back to start yelping, so I enlisted the aid of my tractor to pull them up and out of the crate, then lay them on the floor in my garage.

Took the new excavator out to my test area the other day to get some more hands-on experience with the controls. Dug a test hole then covered it back over. Yeah, I am definitely way down at the bottom of that learning curve.
