• In the past two days I have gotten emails asking about being requested to provide credit card info in order to register and also to make a post in the classifieds forums. PLEASE NOTE: In no instance will this site ask you for this sort of information. The only time any request for payment is made is if you choose to opt-in for a higher membership level, and that is done SOLELY through PayPal. Anything else is coming from a source other than this site. My guess is that this is coming through Google Adsense, but when I can get someone to send me a screen shot of this sort of request, I will know more.

    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

So I bought a BP that was supposed to be a 2016. S/he is 30 inches and weighs 500+ grams. Is there any way to know, based on average size / growth rate of a ball python, how old it is or if it is even a 2016?

People can take a guess and, obviously, it is easy to tell apart a hatchling, from a full adult, but there is no accurate way to 100% determine a snake's age.

A Ball Python could just as easy be from this year, as it could be a two year old, at 500+ grams.
Depends, somewhat on genetics but ~mostly~ on whether, or not, the snake was power fed, "appropriately"/sensibly fed, or maintenance fed.

The most accurate way to determine the age of a Ball Python is the same way you determine the age of a tree.
Cut it in half and count the number of rings.

A 2016 weighing around 500 grams is credible. If she's a 2015 then she's either a very picky eater or was maintenance fed and she'd look pretty thin. Enjoy your pet.
