In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Break in at Texas Lizard Connection

That totally sicks me! Please drop me a email to me if you need to. I loved your Geckos and I am so sorry about your geckos and dog. That alot of geckos robbed> I am watching for it out,

FREAKIN IDIOTS!

Its only a matter of time! These low-lifes will be caught. Then the issue with the dog is just heartbreaking. I am totally disgusted with some "people"! I am on the other Far end of Texas but if I see anything or hear anything suspicious I will let you guys know. I myself have been so paranoid about this I can't even let locals come over to pick out their purchases! Someone will talk and its just a matter of time. Hang in there TLC! You have the true Herper communtiy behind you!

P.S. I think Livestock theft is a 1st degree felony! These guys will be going away for a while!!!! Don't bend over to pick up the soap you IDIOTS!

So sad. . .

Anyone that knows Scott and Kima have to be really upset. Not that we wouldn't feel this way for anyone, but those two have to be the nicest people I've had the pleasure of knowing. Please, someone find these guys. We can invite them to some sort of party or something to show them how we feel. Killing a dog anywhere for any reason is enough to get me steaming.

Scott and Kima, let Tammie and I know if there's ANYTHING we can do.

well said

Well said, Don. Scott and I have become very close over the last few years, and this pains my heart. I've been on the phone and computer for the last 5 hours letting everyone know what has happened.

There is a small ray of light amidst this maelstrom of wickedness. Scott and I, as most of you know, are working on a few projects. Those projects are with me.

I couldnt agree with you more. I met Scott over the internet about 4 or 5 years ago. He sent me an adult pair of Nephrurus levis in exchange for a pair of Chondrodactylus. I had never met him in person but he trusted me enough to send me the Levis months before the Chondrodactylus were going to be available.

Those Chondrodactylus became the founders of his stock, and the Levis I got from him became the founders of the "striped" and "super striped" Levis that Tribal Reptile sells from time to time.

I finally got to meet Scott and Kima in person in Orlando in 1999. I have to say that they are the cream of the crop in quality and professionalism. I have no doubt that they will be back on track soon.

Thanks Nathan for all you are doing to help them.

There is hope I think

Seems to me that finding the culprits should be a little easier than usual because of what they took. It isn't like every pet store out there carries Chondrodactylus or Nephrurus. And the gecko collecting world is a lot smaller than your boa/python collector world. These geckos are likely to be spotted somewhere I think.

It's legal to kill someone,in Texas, if they're on your property, with intentions of stealing-- right?

So what if they DO steal, and you find them later?
same thing, right?

And I get sick when I think of one of my animals being stolen.
Let alone the dog.
That's why I got a little dog, instead of a big one.

He's alert and loud, but a coward. This way, he'll let me know if someone's breaking in, but he won't try some heroic, "save mommy and daddy" thing, like a big, strong, fearless dog will, putting himself at risk.

...I just need enough time to get the gun...

Poor guy. I've never done buisness with him, but I've heard good things.

Do the corrupt people ever get robbed?

posted to RPH newsgroup as well

I checked and didn't see anything there, so made a similar post about the break-in on the RPH Newsgroup. Will be keeping my eyes and ears open to catch the scatological specimens responsible. Guess the lesson we're all seeing is that while a dog is a fair-to-moderate level of security, nothing beats a hard-wired security system when you're keeping and breeding for a living. I don't know that this would have made a difference, but maybe the police could have been there to catch the perps in the act. Too bad nobody was home to blow them away once they were inside. (Yep, I'm a supporter of that Texas (and Oklahoma) law permitting such acts against criminals when they act against you.) Don't know about hanging them for killing a dog in Texas...figured that it would take a horse to make it a hanging offense... :D

Maybe catching these block-heads won't take as long now as it did those years ago with Bob Clark's albino ball project.

just awful

This is so disturbing, the fact that they killed his dog is what bothers me the most. Scott called last night and told me and I just kept thinking "it could happen to me", you see, Scott and I are neighbors. We live like 2 minutes away from each other. I had a really hard time sleeping last night. I feel so bad for Scott and Kima and their little boy.

These "people" killed a beautiful and sweet dog, what's to stop them from killing a person if their next victim happens to be home at the time they break in. This has to stop, and we have to pull together and catch these inhumane, evil criminals, before it happens again.

I am so very sorry to hear this news. Scott and Kima does not deserve this. No one does but man, Scott and Kima are two of the nicest people I have ever met. I pray to God these dirt bags are caught . Let us know if there is anything we can do to help.I am sorry about their dog but I Thank God they were not home....

Hey Girl!!!

Lynn, didn't know you were on here. Had to take a moment to say "howdy!" and to say that we'll hope to see you and Sprocket at a show up this way soon.

David

Howdy, maybe one us can get up there. What happened to Scott and Kima is the very reason we do not travel to much together. There is someone at this place 24/7 with more then a dog....Again... Scott and Kima , you are in my thoughts and prayers..

I remember...

Scott and Kima at the last OKC show we did over a year ago (didn't have much at all last year.) I also remember either you or Sprocket saying that the other was home watching things the last time we saw you.

If nothing else, perhaps we can find ourselves at a show down in your neck of the woods soon...if nothing else, seeing what's available. We're going to be looking for some future breeding stock before long anyway, so get ready.

There've been too many thefts in the past few years and it seems like things are getting worse instead of better. We have the big dog outside, little ones inside and a fair assortment of other deterents should anyone decide to come on in. We have to as our local police force doesn't want to come in to our home simply because of the animals we keep and/or have kept in the past...and none of them are venomous...go figure. ;) Guess that's just another reason folks in this hobby/biz have to work so hard at policing it themselves.

David

This is terrible to hear.
We were just talking with a group of people at the NM show this past weekend about what nice people Scott and Kima are. And we also received some beautiful geckos from them last week.
It is just sickening to hear about the dog.
We will all keep our ears/eyes open.

I dont know that this would help, but I was thinking.

I know the last burglary made cnn (Jeff Hustons) because of the reward money. Well Im thinking we should contact CNN, let them know about the newest situation, explain that this is happening alot, and ask if they would consider a follow up.

Allthough its unlikely, you never know. Maybe its a slow news day.

I've contacted US Customs, USF&W, and several airports. The government is now well aware of the burglary, and they are doing all that they can to help.

Thanks to all who have donated. It will really help Scott and Kima.

This needs to stop.

I have to agree with everyone on the fact that this couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

The most upsetting point is that they killed his dog. What will they do next?
Is murdering a person next on the agenda?
Something has to give. Many of us work very hard and invest our life's saving to run our business and some thug can come by one day kill your dog and make off with everything you have worked years to achieve.
Most of us don't even have insurance to help ease the lose.

With all of the break-ins lately its made us rethink our security.
We recently purchased another guard dog, installed an alarm system with a motion detector in each building, and a camera at each entrance. But is that enough.......

I hope they catch who ever did this horrible thing and I hope they get what they deserve.
Scott hang in there you have lots of support behind you even if it doesn't feel like right now.

Very upsetting indeed Nicole . As a person getting into the breeding end of our hobby it makes me very nervous . Some of us are indeed working very hard to get breeders together and start our bussinesses to sell healthy animals and do something we enjoy . And then creeps like these come along and ruine it for us .

I have taken the liberty of posting this on the NAROA group list on Yahoo and word has just hit Turtle Homes . Word is spreading like wildfire all over the US . I do not think this outrage will go on unpunished . All of us herpers need to stick together . This has still got me very digusted . Be on gaurd everyone .

wow another very similiar story

dont you guys think it would be better if donations went into a reward for capturing the thief. If the money went into a reward it would make alot more sense.People might start talking and soon enough you will be able to get your collection back.I mean this did just happen last night though am I right?.I dont know just seems like a better plan to me.Sorry for your lost.
