In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Break in at Texas Lizard Connection

That is a good idea but... I think they need money to rebuild too. I am sure that the money will go where it is needed most.

I am simply trying to help Scott and Kima out in any way possible. Raising funds for a reward is a good idea, but the small amount received from donations will help immediately. Do you think that their insurance will cover the $30K in geckos stolen? I think we all know the answer to that. I will not try to justify why I set up this fund for them. I am just doing what I think is best.

The authorities are doing their job, and the herp community is doing all they can because it is the right thing to do, with or without a reward.

factors to look at

Last year, our breeding pair of the rare , endangered Bolson's tortoise were stolen....we had raised the pair since 1967 when they were purchased from Gerry Tordt ,owner and operator of the El Paso Reptile Garden. I started investigating all possible entities and was eventually able to get these rare chelonians back....I looked at several factors....they are as follows: recent visits by individuals of late, who had knowledge of various obstacles--the dog, etc? Who knew the schedule which the majority of people have and/or practice...it was someone who has either been a visitor or a co-hort of a recent visitor and has knowledge of all of the listed factors...think about a mental list of visitors !! I sure hope the individuals get their animals back----if the perpetrators are caught (and they will be)---bring them here to the Mexican border--I have knowledge of some individuals in Cuidad Acuna who for a nominal fee will provide those bastards with a fun-filled night they will never forget..........if they live !!!! Buena suerte, E.Turner, on the Border.

what makes this a problem

is that the takers may have already sold the geckos before they even got them. Secondly, these are not the kind of geckos that can take knocking around. Their are requirements for their maintanance, and if the inventory is correct, thats alot of animals to take care of..........even for a thief.

the answer as I see it because I also deal in the high end of these kinds of geckos is to hope that someone receives a tip on a potential cash sale for Knobtails.

The gecko community is small, and the high end items are even smaller. The thiefs will only have 2 options open to them. 1 will be to unload them, or let them die. For sure they are not going to start a breeding colony of their own, nor do they have any desire to maintain them for any extended period of time. These are desperate people, who apparently knew what they were looking for, and were brazen enough in all probability to canvass their target very well.

Eventually, if their not heading toward Canada, or somehow being smuggled out of the USA, they may be maintained for 3 months and possibly unloaded privately in Daytona.

A nasty situation, and if nothing else, iam grateful that Scott and Kimi were not at home when these louses invaded their privacy. Its the worst kind of violation! Killing the dog was more symbolic then necessary, but it sends a strong message.

Jerry , Those are some good points. I do not think they will sell the breeders...But the babies are another question. I think it is someone they know (SAD SAD SAD) or someone was paid to do it...Either way is sure sucks. Yes it is bad enough to steal, but to KILL THE DOG.... SICK SICK SICK... I hope they rot in HELL..

like it was stated before

This had to be planned, did they leave any finger prints? I mean if these guys are idoits, they must of had to grab alot of things, and leave some trace behind. Either someone hired them to get there collection or someone did it themselves ( a serious breeder who wanted them) (I think) all they have to do is just add the group of animals into there existing colony and they disappear. Wait a year or two, get some extra babys, and advertise them as babys from there original stock. Like Earl said when you live by the border you get to meet some interesting people. Some of those people you will never ever mess with cause you know what they can do. Did the neighbors see anything? I know mine would, we all live in a tight knit little community here, words gets out quick, someone had to see something. Sorry to ask but how did they kill the dog? If it was shot, did anyone hear it? Some many questions. All I can honestly say, and know for a fact is... "What comes around goes around.." Take care, and keep us updated.

who needs to cross the border?

Raul and Ed,
Having lived and taught on/near the border for a couple of years, let's be honest about things. You don't even have to really approach those shady individuals on the Mexican side of the border. It can all be arranged on this side if a person has a handful of contacts. ;) Though I don't know which would be worse, Serving them up for vigilante style justice across the Rio Grande or just letting TX law enforcement get their hands on them since the family dog was killed to get a the geckos and eggs. Might be a toss up as to which would be worse.

Maybe if Scott/Kimi compared notes with Jeff on who their most recent visitors were before their respective robberies they might find a match. Seems worth looking at even if it is a long-shot.

Nathan,
i hope you dont mind me adding a link to your webpage concering the burglary on the main page of my website.. i figure the more who knows the more likely it will be to find them
keep us informed

I agree,

It does sound like a situation where the culprits knew exactly were everything was and what they were facing. As Mr. Tresser said, the high end gex community is indeed pretty small, and I could also see the gex showing up at a show for resale (a few here, a few there), or simply sent wholesale to a company who does lots of business off-the-record. I don't know Scott/Kimi, but I would be ready to do something RASH if someone had broken into my home for my collection, it's a horrible feeling just to read about it, and is something that good honest people should NEVER have to go through. -Eric Lago *MS Reptilian Hobbyists*

posting a link

Can anyone tell me how to post a link to the info regarding the robbery and anything else on my web page? It isn't a very popular page or anything, but if even a few people see it I'll feel better knowing I tried to help in some way. I am always driving friends and family nuts, making them visit it so a few people will at least read the info. I'm not web savy so email me the easiest way please. I have it hosted through register.com and I make changes through there (if that helps).

To Scott and Kim,
My thoughts are with you. I had the pleasure of being stationed in TX once and can only hope TX style justice prevails.
