Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I know that alot of people on this site are American but i need to rant about Britain! this happened to a mate not me, she got her car stolen from outside her house, it was found the next day a couple of streets away with a smashed window and had been hot wired! obviously she rung the police, they came and pretty much said they knew who had done it. Youngsters practising! So anyways they took her car away to be tested for finger prints and such, so shes thinking once they have finished they will return her car and she would be able to get it fixed! Well no! She rung them up and asked where it was,its in the pound, and she has to pay to get it out!!!
So basically she is having to pay for the privilege of having her car stolen! She is a single mother an needs her car for work but cant afford to pay to get her car! I just don't understand, its punishing the innocent in a way! No wonder i no longer live in England!
 
I'm sorry your friend has had such a difficult time, but with a broken window, I can see where the police might want to have the car in a place that would monitor it so that it would not get stolen again. Is there perhaps a supervisor where she could go to request that the fees be paid later if she is unable to afford them now? Are the fees reasonable?

How is the process done in Spain?
 
The way the police operate here is usually silly at best. I've never had a car stolen, but i've had to call them out over other things and they were almost useless. A victim of crime having to pay to get something back that was stolen is just one contradiction as to how the police operate that seriously needs to be looked at. Don't get me wrong, they do have some good points, but stupid situations like this happen to often to ignore. :angry:
 
WOW.. and I thought the police around here were bad.. THAT IS HORRIBLE!!! ok.. taking it to the pound where they have cameras.. good idea.. but.. there should be a section for that reason alone.. you know? The cop section, where the cars wont have a freeking charge on them..

that is just rediculous. AND I bet no one was arrested for it either.. so .. all for nothing.

I agree she should go after someone, get that fee dropped.. That is just rediculous.

I really do hope things work out for her!!!!!

And I agree with David.. Yes, always have their good points.. but THESE kinds of events can NOT go unnoticed.. something needs to be done..

well..they said they know who did it...so they might have some suspects in mind...thats complete unjustice if she has to pay for it....I really hope things work out to her benefit
 
For the record, it works like that here in the US, also. Years ago, somebody set fire to my car...the policeman that attended asked if they could impound the vehicle for their investigation (at least he asked, lol). He told me where it would be, and to give them at least a week...but added that I could come to collect any personal items in 2-3 days. Imagine my surprise when I arrived to sift through it, and was told that I would have to pay both the towing and storage fee before I could have access to the vehicle.
 
yeah it was a good idea to put it somewhere secure, but i disagree that she should pay to get it out. the price goes up and up the longer it is there. When she first asked the price was 200pound($400) and that was after a week, but like i said she is a single mum and doesnt have spare money lying around at the moment!
The kids that did it wont be punished for it. you see in England even if they catch people for a crime, they spend money taking them to court then letting them off because of some human rights shit! Especially if they are teenage chavs, they can do what they want when they want and get no punishment!
I have no idea how it would work in Spain, its kinda the opposite way across here in a sense. it would have took the police 2 days to show up and then they wouldve have prob just left the car where it was found, but they punish ppl abit different across here, they will hit you if they want or if you are cheeky to them and they like to fine you on the spot! Someone disrespected the police about 2 weeks ago, basically saying that they were sick of them and ended up with a 400euro fine!
