    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

retention certainly is a way. that is/was my point. you cant base all genetic outcomes on what is being bred at that time or what offspring "should" be

and exactly, although there is a "formula" for what percentages and outcomes should be, you truly never know.

again, an anery x snow, should give no normals, only snows and anery het albinos, and probably not what actually happened with this litter, just stating that it could happen, whether it be retention from another male, or some freak genetic happening or whatever.
im interested, however, to see the pics of the litter and the parents and what else he has to say
 
also, about you and your wife scenario, you comparing genes to race/localities.

meaning, it is possible (again, although very very slight, but possible) to breed an albino x albino and get no albinos. its been done. but i agree, for example in retics, breeding a sula x sula locale (race for a lack of better term) and getting selayer locale.

So is the mother het snow (like the text says) or anery het snow (like the OP says)? If she's het snow then normals and albinos are possible. Weird odds, but entirely possible.
 
Just as a "information" contribution, I had a similar anomaly with my Kenyan Sand clutch this year.

The Sire: Anery Paradox HET SNOW
The Dam: Albino HET ANERY

NET: 6 Anery, 4 Normal.

Weird? Yessssss?????????? I dunno. Just saying.

That male is not a snow. He might be a hypo anery though.

The other thing to consider here is that in an earlier post he states he had the female form 3-4 months before she dropped her babies. Since sand boas are s live bearing species their gestation time is MUCH longer than other snakes. Gestation times of 3-4 months are not unheard of but that is pretty short. Typically you are looking at around twice that length of time.

I would bet that the female was bred to something else before he got her and that is why the genetics don't work out on this one.

That being said, there is something going on with that male. He is not a snow, but he is not a regular looking anery either. It is possible, as I mentioned above, that he is a hypo anery. There has also been some debate as to whether there are two types of anery (A and B like in corn snakes). I'm not sure if this ever got worked out but there was some speculation about it and the male looks a lot like what people were claiming was "anery B."
