    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I bought the wine cooler, have 11 inch heat tape and silicon. Do I need any type of computer fan? I know some people put water bottles on the bottom? How much heat tape should I use? Any help would be appreciated. Going to be building today.

Thanks!

Here is mine. No fan but it's big enough for lots of heat sink and keeps good temps. Heat tape all the way down the back and on the bottom works well.

Nima's is good. I would use a fan, though I have one without as well.
Little computer fan near the top pointing down to move that warm air all throughout.

Can't really use to much heat tape, if you have plenty in there it just won't take as long to get to temp.

Foil tape the sides of the heat tape into place get plug through the back hole, get your t-stat probe through the hole as well. Make sure you pull a little extra t-stat cord through the hole so you can place it anywhere and not run out of cord. Seal the hole. Silicone works. Regular old insulation works well to, just pack it in there.

Then hook up your fan, a few different ways to do this...I wouldn't be the one to ask. I know it's pretty simple though.

Plug it in, make sure it holds the temps you want and you should be all set. :)

I may add a fan, but I also breed GTPs. I'll need one that's water resistant. Any suggestions? Do you just let the fan run 24hrs a day?

Yes 24hrs a day. It's helps regulate and even out the temperature that your heat tape is putting off. They work great any computer fan will work.

I wouldn't bother with a fan in something that small unless you've got quite a difference in air temps from top to bottom.

As others have said, more heat tape means it takes less time to get to temp, and less effort to hold it there. Water bottles in the bottom aren't necessary, but the thermal mass does help hold steady temps after door openings, and will cover your butt for a while if your power goes off.
