Built a rack this weekend! With V70 tub dividers

Just finished this rack i made out of melamine holds 3 V70 Tubs. I also made dividers for the tubs made out of polypropylene plastic like sheets sealed with silicone calk "deviders not the best quality but they work."

Good looking rack. I do have one question though. How do you heat the front of the rack since it's designed to hold 2 snakes per bin?

I'd assume he has the heat tape running the length of the rack, from front to back on one side.

I actually rearranged the heat tape to heat it from the front looks allot cleaner ill throw some pics up of my progress still slowly working on it all i really have left is the melamine tape. The tanks are only divided so i can fit juveniles in cb-70 tubs so the tank will "grow" with the ball pythons, avoids building multiple tanks.

Thanks for the great idea with the dividers. I just did the same with one of my larger tubs using a piece of acrylic I had on hand. It worked great! Now instead of using smaller tubs for smaller my smaller snakes, I can use the all the same size tubs, just with dividers.

Yeah its awesome! Works really well glad you enjoyed! I used silicone calk to seal the dividers but i don't think it's going to last too long with the flexing of the plastic tubs is already causing the calk to detach from the plastic... The bottom doesn't seem to have the same problem so i will probably end up zip tying the tops of the dividers to make sure they stay in place.

im surprised... I would have thought silicone would have worked really well. I used hot glue and it is very strong, but if you flex the tub, it snaps away from the side. I have found it can be avoided just by making sure to hold it from the handle area. Its when you try to hold it by one side that it snaps.

one thing I have thought of that may work better, and would also make the divider removable and re-insertable, was to instead of attaching the divider directly to the sides, attach to small strips of plastic or wood to the sides to make a groove for the divider to slide into. Because they wont be attached in the middle, they shouldnt snap off when flexed, and it would allow you to easily remove the divider and use the full tub.

When i was searching for ideas for dividers i did stumble upon someone who used three wood melamine strips assembled in a "I" shape to divide his tubs in half. It seemed to work. Wish i could find the thread again to share with you. Those would be removable and fairly easy to mass produce if you have allot tubs and the right tools. This would work great for dividing the tubs in half and im sure 1/2 a V70 would be big enough for full grown male's.

I never thought of using hot glue, maybe i will use this to reinforce the sides instead of drilling more holes in my V70's wouldn't want to rune them and silicone calk is expensive!

If you can find sheets of PVC that would work much better than melamine due to the moisture.
