    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Can anyone tell me where I can get cypress mulch in bulk? I can only find the small T-rex brand or the other pet store brands.

Should be able to find it at your local Lowe's or Home Depot. Wal Mart around here carries it as well.
I think the bags are 3 cubic feet and usually run $2-3.

is the kind from home depot and lowes reptile safe? i wouldnt want to bring mites in on untreated cypress.

I've been using it for 15 years. You won't bring in mites with bedding. Mites don't live just anywhere in the absence of a host.

Well thank you. This helps alot. I was under the impression that the cypress from those places had to be treated in some mannor before it could be used for reptiles.

I won't say that it is impossible to bring in mites from a big bag of mulch......but, if you did, they wouldn't be snake mites.

That's true. While I've never noticed any bugs in cypress, many years ago I used some pine bark chips and found what I thought were probably wood lice in it, but I never actually identified them. They didn't bother the snake, but I still didn't like the critters in the cage.

You can always bake the mulch in the oven on a brownie pan or cookie sheet. I usually bake them on 200 degrees for 20 minutes and that will kill any critters in the mulch.

Thanks for all the info guys. I believe I read on hear somewhere that cyrpess mulch from local stores can be toxic? any truth to this?

Some of them sell blends - usually, the mix includes cedar, which is toxic.
As long as you are getting 100% cypress, you should be okay (I'd avoid any dyes and additives).

Thanks Ed. Thats what I was looking for. But, do you have to a vendors licsense since they are a wholesale dealer?
