In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I was wondering if it was advisable or possible to use a bullfrog tadpole to scent the pinky mice i try to feed to my stubborn feeding hognose... Please any advice helps

I had some CBB (In an effort to keep things as clean as possible, most I see for sale are WC) bullfrog tadpoles frozen and would thaw a pinky out in a baggy with one for scenting. It worked just fine, but you go through a lot of tadpoles that way. Since then I've heard that you can actually grind up or blend the frozen tadpoles and just use a small piece a time. As unpleasant as it may be, it does sound more efficient if you can bring yourself to do it. Personally, I haven't had the need to try it since my problem feeder no longer needs scenting.

That said, there's plenty of other methods I'd try first. For the longest time, I had one who would only eat if he was placed in a deli cup with the pinky and left alone in a secluded corner. Some others prefer to strike from prey that's being moved around by tongs. Many of them are hungriest at a certain periods of day and won't respond at other times. I even had a local breeder tell me that he set a f/t pinky in to the gaping mouth of a finicky hatchling that was playing dead, apparently it worked for him. lol But whatever you go with, I think it's most important that you avoid stressing him out by giving him breaks in between and ensuring that his environment is as perfect as can be.

Best of luck to you~

My male hognose prefers to be put in a shoe box size tub with his mouse & have that covered with a towel before he will eat. Some snakes are quirky like that.
