I purchased a Super Pastel 66% Het Clown male from Bradford Cole last year to go with a Clown project that I was starting. First clutch of the year bred to a 100% Het Clown female I got 5 good eggs but no Clowns. Four of the 5 offspring had complete yellow Halos around the heads so I was still hopeful that my possible het might prove out. I had already bred him to a Spider and got 9 good eggs. One egg molded and of the eight remaining got 6 Bees. All pipped on their own but 2 never came out of the egg.
Of the four remaining live Bees the pattern on at least two seems to be very reduced and almost non existant at the back half of the snakes. The heads also have very little pattern. To those of you that have produced Bumblebee het Clowns is this a possible marker? or am I just being too optimistic? I think that I'm going to get one more clutch from a 100% female so still hoping to prove him out this season. Thanks for the opinions, Dale Porcher DVM

Bee Sibs that didn't make it

I incubate at 88 and they pipped right at day 59 and by day 61 all were out except these last two. They pipped but never made it out. Today they smelled so I pulled them out . Look similar to the living Bees. Not sure what went wrong?

Wow, I love the one in the top pic. Hard to say what went wrong with the other two. I had two babies that looked normal but didn't make it this year. I guess it happens sometimes...sad:(.

Pastel sibling

A few people have asked me what the head pattern looks like on the two Pastel siblings. Tried to take a decent head picture of the one that I thought looked promising as far as a poss het clown. Dang smart camera kept auto focusing me out of focus. Anyway here is a Pastel sibling to the Bees. Head pattern is what I was trying to focus on. Camera stinks!
