Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them.     Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

to the web masters or moderators, can u add more colors to the existing ones in the bump room for high lighting ads, there is not enough colors to play with if u have many ads, any help will be great from u guys, hope u can add alot of new colors soon,,, thanks mark:thumbsup:
 
I don't think it's that there aren't enough colors....it's just that most of the colors are ugly, so we don't use them, lol. If we're doing requests though - I'd like MY OWN color...one that nobody else can use. I'll pay extra. (It has to be a color I like, though :thumbsup: )
 
To more directly respond - and this is just speculation on my part - I'd guess that the options are presets in the vBulletin package...and that adding to them or changing them might require custom modifications (which would have to be redone every time an update is done).
 
I would need to see more opinions on this matter before I would even consider another custom program mod.

So people aren't using the highlight colors because they are "ugly"? :shrug01:
 
If it's a feasible option, I'd be willing to spend a few extra dollars to make my ad more unique with my own personal color choices (whether they're just for me, or just a better assortment).

Well, I was poking fun....but, the colors aren't great. The yellow and orange are fairly similar, but not as close as the pink and purple. A lot of people use the yellow and orange, making them undesirable to me because my ads just blend in with the others. The only one I ever use is the green...and I often check the classifieds before bumping to make sure there isn't a bunch of green on the page already.

How about something in moderator blue, lol? I'd even share it with the rest of the mod crew, :thumbsup:
(but I was serious about paying extra for my own color, if that were to be made a limited option.)
 
Hmmm - if it ends up being something you consider, what about adding a just a few extra choices according to membership level? Leave the standard colors for the contributing members (maybe even taking the green out, because it's a pretty good color, lol), and one or two special colors each for benefactor and endowment level members?
Probably getting into too much customization, there....I'm going back to feeding snakes.
 
Fortunately I have a background in programming, so I try not to pass on requests to my programmer that he will come back to me saying "Are you NUTS??"

Telling him that I wanted him to implement a scheme whereby each member could have a unique color scheme for their ads would likely be one of those sorts of instances, I'm sure....
 
Just a fyi, I am discussing this mod with my programmer right now. At first blush it might be more complicated (meaning expensive) to implement than I am willing to pay for.

So how many people would be interested in this if I tied an expanded color selection for highlights to the higher paid memberships? I need to know if this mod would be able to pay for itself.
 
I'm going to be re-uping my membership in the next few days, but I can't afford the higher membership, so I guess I'll get the standard color selections?
 
I'm not sure I would pay for a higher membership level based on a few extra color selections. If the number of bumps doesn't get someone to fork over more I doubt that color choices would do it. :shrug01:

Limiting the # of adds someone can post per day, based on level, might get a few people to go to a higher level. The increased color choice, per level, could be added at the same time to increase the benefits of a higher contributor level.

I agree! I'm voting YES.. but please if you change it move the green up a level or two!
 
I aiming for a sort of "color picker" selection where you can pick you own color. Perhaps even enter in the hex codes of the color you want to use. The problem is that a preview option may be more complicated than is warranted, so the drawback would be that if someone selected a color scheme that made their ad unreadable, they would waste a bump/highlight finding that out.

So I'm trying to see if this is worth implementing, and if so, exactly how much it is worth to implement. If it would cost me several hundred dollars in programming fees to implement, and it doesn't have any tangible financial return to me, then no, I can't see wasting my money.

I too would like to see other color options. I think it is a great idea to have paid members/levels have their own colors. Not that that alone would make someone pay more money for a new level, but it does give an extra perk.

I too only use green. I was in car sales, you always used green pen, green means go, good, yes buy it :D
 
I agree with the color changes with higher contributor status. I also don't think there is much incentive between the levels. I would suggest extra karma and a fauna bumper sticker :D
